Travellers describe The Dilworth Inn as a charming, historic stay on Gonzales' town square with clean, comfortable rooms, friendly staff, and a convenient on-site Italian restaurant, plus easy walkability to shops, museums, and other local dining.
Many guests highlight quiet rooms, high ceilings, and spacious layouts in this renovated older building. Common trade-offs include a not-always-staffed front desk with occasional check-in delays, some interior rooms lacking windows, and periodic maintenance or housekeeping hiccups. Overall, expect a characterful base with minimal frills.

Our room was next to the elevator, so that was a bit loud. The young lady at the front desk did an awesome job, checking us in and answering our questions. I appreciated the coffee bar in the hallway of the second floor as I like to drink coffee in the morning, but for some reason, the Keurig-style coffee maker would not turn on when I pressed the power button. I was grateful that we could leave our to-go dinner boxes in their refrigerator while we spend the morning and early afternoon antiquing and shopping in town.

Easy check-in. Restaurants, Museums, Parks and walks by Gonzales historic homes is so close and easy walk. Room access easy via elevator or easy walkable one flight of stairs. Rooms well spaced and quiet.

This hotel was very cute and the service was excellent. We were worried at first because the check in instructions mention they don’t have a 24/7 lobby and our flight wasn’t getting in until after midnight, but that didn’t end up being a problem at all. They own the Italian restaurant next door and I assume live onsite because they were super responsive and the service was quick and efficient. We loved being “downtown” because there are restaurants and shops on the same street as the hotel. Parking was free and easy to find right out front. The place was clean and we felt the rooms were a decent size and had a big bathroom. There were fridges in the rooms as well as a small kitchenette with free coffee, filtered water, silverware, etc. right outside the rooms. If we ever have to travel here again, this is definitely where we will stay!

We loved the secluded room. Very nice and clean. The staff was wonderful and very obliging. Will definitely consider staying here again. We don’t stay at hotels with continental breakfasts anymore. They have become very disappointing. The coffee machine is in the hallway and extra blankets and pillows available. Very nice.

Clean and comfortable room. I felt safe. Check in and out was easy. Friendly staff. I had supper at the Italian restaurant attached to the hotel. Best Italian food I’ve had in USA. Home cooked, with live. Fresh and tasty. Excellent service too. I’ll not hesitate to stay here again.

We loved the older feel to the building, but at the same time it was updated! Super quiet and relaxing. Very friendly staff! Loved that it was connected to the Italian Restaurant as well! The only con to the stay was that parking could get a bit difficult. Most of our stay we parked across the street in the parking lot nearby and had to walk across the street and traffic to get our things inside. At the end of our stay we were able to park right up front which made it so much easier! Overall definitely would recommend to friends and family!

The property is great. Awesome location right in the middle of town. The restaurant downstairs makes it very convenient to have dinner the first night you arrive.

Overall the property is nice, however there is never anyone at the front desk so you have to check in with one of the employees at the connecting restaurant. This isn’t a big deal for me but I did not like that the restroom, especially the shower, did not look like it had been cleaned.

I was very disappointed with my stay as there were many things wrong with it. The ice maker was broken but at least there was a fridge in the room. The room was dusty with huge dust bunnies on the fan. The unfortunate thing is they won't let you alter the AC lower than 72 so you had to use the fan as it was hot at night. So we woke up with really bad allergies. They removed the dead bolt from the door so someone with a key barged into a room prior to check out which was at 11am. This is extremely dangerous as anyone could come into your room. The door also jammed multiple times and was difficult to get into. The mattresses are also not the best quality so expect to wake up sore.

Honestly I would've gave it a perfect score if it wasn't for the low battery on the fire alarm. The beeping made it almost impossible to sleep. Other than that everything about the hotel is awesome!

I liked the fact that it was older but nice. It was also conveniently located for my stay. However, The Wireless network connectivity was terrible and unusable, the rooms AC unit was out so a Window unit had been installed. It wasn't quite by any means. Wasn't sure why there were two remotes for the TV and didn't like the factr there was no guide channel.

We love Dilworth. The only thing I’d say is, comparing staying at an interior room as opposed to the room overlooking downtown, pay for that one!

We arrived to the hotel at 2 a hour before check in. I tried to call first to see if it would be ok to come, no answer. I arrive at the hotel to the door you enter being locked, I call again no answer. Several times and again yet no answer. It’s 10 mins until 3 finally someone answers and she meets me at the door to open it and let me check in. We check in and the room was not at all as we expected! I only wanted a Queen but received two queens instead, and a room with no windows when I had booked showed a room indeed with windows. After the experience of trying to even get into the room and seeing what we got we decided to just leave and not even stay the night . I talked to the owner and the best who could tell me was “ I have a room for you with windows buts it cost more “. I refuse to feel like I’m trapped in a damn box and horrible service at that. There was no refund given, even when I mentioned the room was definitely not depicted as shown online . Hard pass, stay away!

Poor check in, I was arriving after 6pm so I contacted the inn was told to call the lady when I got there. Called her before I even stepped into the lobby. Waited no one showed up. Went next door to their Italian restaurant. Told somebody still waited. Had to go back again and she was behind the cashier's desk telling me she'd be there shortly and it was another 10 minutes. The connecting restaurant has access to the hotel for the restrooms on the first floor. There is no way for you to feel safe in this hotel because all the restaurant guests have access to this hotel. Our room the deadbolt wouldn't even work half of it was missing. Will never stay here again

This hotel was very cute and the service was excellent. We were worried at first because the check in instructions mention they don’t have a 24/7 lobby and our flight wasn’t getting in until after midnight, but that didn’t end up being a problem at all. There were fridges in the rooms as well as a small kitchenette with free coffee, filtered water, silverware, etc. right outside the rooms. If we ever have to travel here again, this is definitely where we will stay!

Glad we stayed here and would definitely stay again. Room was nice, quite and comfortable. Management allowed us to check-in about 2 hours early. Italian restaurant onsite was nice but did not feel like it was actually part of the hotel. It is much bigger than I expected. The picture of the three small round tables is not inside the restaurant but of a sitting area inside the hotel. The Italian restaurant is actually quite large. It could use some greenery and perhaps grape vines painted on the walls to enhance the atmosphere. The servers were excellent - very attentive. The music playing in the background over numerous speakers throughout the restaurant was excellent. The loudness of the music was perfect - better than any other restaurant I have ever been in. Easy to hear from anywhere but not too low or too loud. However, the food was lacking. Mine and my wife's meals tasted like they were straight out of a can or from TV dinners.

We had a family get together in Gonzales planned over St. Patrick's day weekend in order to have a celebration of life for my Mother who passed away late last year. St. Patrick's Day was her favorite holiday. It was a planned outdoor event on Saturday but due to some inclement weather, we asked the Hotel staff if we could use their party room to have our family get together until the weather cleared. The staff was more than accommodating and made sure we had everything we needed. We cannot than them enough for their help and understanding. The Hotel itself was fabulous. The rooms were gorgeous and everything was clean and organized. We cannot than the Dilworth staff enough for their support and understanding of our situation. They went out of their way to accommodate us and we will never forget their hospitality.

I took a quick trip to Gonzales to hike Palmetto State Park. I love the park and town. This hotel was in a great location in the center of town with so many shops and places to eat within walking distance. I will be back with friends!

The property is great. Awesome location right in the middle of town. The restaurant downstairs makes it very convenient to have dinner the first night you arrive.

Dining
The on-site Italian restaurant receives frequent praise for quality and convenience, with occasional dissenting views. There is no on-site breakfast, but multiple nearby cafes and restaurants are within a short walk.

Clean and comfortable. An option for breakfast would be nice but there’s plenty of other options for that.

This hotel used to be Bank and is in center of old town. The property dates from early 20th Century and is charming in that way but may not be for all tastes. The hotel has no reception or restaurant service but the owners are right next door in the adjoining Italian restaurant and are extremely nice and helpful. Breakfast may be had in cute Creperie half block away.

This hotel was a lovely and comfortable base for our Texas history adventures in Gonzales and surrounding areas, including a tour of Shiner brewery. The attached Italian restaurant is great, and there are other walkable places to eat and drink.

Quaint, cozy, comfortable and affordable with easy walking to great food and shops. Down to earth and friendly. The beds were comfortable, facility & rooms clean, nice little amenities, and a quiet area (it was while we were there, but do ask if there are any scheduled events taking place across the street at the town square just in case). Loved the ambiance!!
