The Plaza Hotel - Milwaukee | Book like an insider

What guests think

The Plaza Hotel - Milwaukee is a lovingly maintained 1920s property where many guests praise its art deco charm, consistently clean accommodations, welcoming staff, and a highly walkable location near the lakefront and downtown attractions.

The on-site Cafe at the Plaza earns strong reviews for breakfast and its courtyard, though lines can be long at peak times. There is no elevator, so all floors require stairs, while paid on-site parking is straightforward and convenient. Some guests noted hallway or restaurant noise, warm rooms from radiator heat, and compact bathrooms with limited counter space; overall, expect spacious, kitchen-equipped suites in a historic setting if you can manage the stairs.

The front desk staff were very helpful and friendly. Loved that there was inexpensive on-site parking. The room was pleasant and very quiet. Good location- our favorite restaurant was an easy 10 minute walk away. I had not stayed here in the past but would consider staying here again when I’m in Milwaukee.

The Plaza is a walk up hotel-no elevator, when we arrived, 6 of us for the weekend, the luggage cart was full! We had at least 3 of the young employees ask if they could help carry our things to our room, they were wonderful, very polite and friendly! We love the Plaza, it’s a beautiful old building with beautiful fixtures. One of the best parts is the full kitchen!

There was no elevator which is a shock this day & age. Also no one bothered to tell us we would have to carry luggage up the stairs. On departure we had to carry our bags through the full dining room. Bad set up. There was a pedestal sink in the bathroom so very little space for toiletries. The bed was very comfy. Nice little kitchenette.

Very clean, good room layout, sufficient amenities, friendly staff, super easy parking and check-in/out. Stayed here before and I’ll probably stay here every trip to MKE. It’s winter and the heat was CRANKED when we got there. I turned it down to the lowest setting before bed but the room stayed uncomfortably warm for the night. Plus the normal radiator clanks and whines 2ft from my head. Super minor but I’ll be sure to prepare next time.

Disappointed at the lack of value for the price. The check-in person was incredibly condescending and shouldn’t be working in customer service with such obvious disdain for other humans. The room smelled weird and there was a visible amount of someone else’s hair on the bathroom floor. Room decor is lovely considering it’s an old hotel, but the vintage building wasn’t worth the added cost, plus parking.

Really nice rooms and a unique stay. Can be a little noisy and I am pretty sure doesn’t actually have central air (just had a radiator and a fan in my room) but the windows could be opened so it was fine. A little noisy, but I think old buildings just have thin walls. Otherwise, it’s in a good part of town close to so many things and I would stay here again.

Really cool boutique hotel located in a quiet neighborhood , easy walk to Summerfest. Be prepared to take your luggage up the stairs - there's no elevator. The rooms are nice and clean, the kitchenette was a nice surprise but the bathrooms are tiny and ours had no counter, just a sink. Difficult to do hair and make up if going out. The staff was super friendly and helpful. The popular restuarant on siite was a bonus the next morning- very crowded on a Sunday mornng with a great unusual breakfast menu! Try the artichoke and spinach stuffed hashbrowns!!!

Well appointed suites. Everything in the room was new and clean. Wish I'd had a chance to eat breakfast on the property. It smelled so good in the morning. The only flaw really was the old wooden floors were a bit squeaky underfoot. The walls were a little thin also but the place was relatively quiet, so not a factor for me. I would stay here again for sure.

I asked when I came in on Sunday 19 if I needed to have an extended stay could I get it ? She said yes, we accommodate you seeing you have stayed all week plus give you an extended stay price. Thursday I asked for an extended stay as my husband was in the hospital having surgery. They said I am sorry we are booked solid. My heart sank. I am not from here and only knew how to get to the hospital from The Plaza. I called all the places in the area but all full. So I went to the hospital and they put me up on a folding bed. I was under the impression if you say we will accommodate that you would. Would never recommend your place..l

The Plaza is a delightful home away from home in Milwaukee. The front desk staff are outstanding, friendly, and helpful. Cait was so kind when we made our reservation and let her know I had mobility issues. She assured me she had assigned us to a quiet room on the first floor (they have no elevators), and it was perfect. The rooms are large and include a FULL kitchen, a dining table with two very comfortable chairs, lots of closet space and hangers, and a small but well equipped bathroom. Our room overlooked the outdoor dining space for the Cafe at the Plaza, so we usually kept our blinds closed until they closed at 2:00! We ate lunch there twice—very tasty and substantial portions. We used Uber to get around, preferring to leave our car in the hotel’s designated parking for the five days. The hotel is walking distance to many of the city’s attractions and convenient to bus lines. We couldn’t have been happier with our stay at the Plaza!
