There were ants when we got there and the started crawling in the bad with us in middle night. The people were really nice but this was awful.

This is a solid basic hotel. Ed at the desk (perhaps the owner) was friendly and kind. Initially there seemed to be no available rooms before the official check-in time, but he called my cell phone after we left when he found one. Checkout was also hassle free. A young man who looked like he might be Ed's son simply took our key and off we went. Wifi worked well. Plentiful free parking, and the location was convenient for San Jose sightseeing. The room had quirks one often finds in an inexpensive hotel. The bathroom light switch was in an unexpected spot--it was originally activated through a motion detector. The shower was hot with good water pressure. Despite the fact that the shower door seemed to be installed improperly, it did not leak water on the floor. There was a wine refrigerator that cooled my water bottle well, with the benefit that we could see stuff we left there. We were disappointed that housekeeping left more hair than usual in the shower and sink, but it seems that they were down to part-time housekeeping staff. The door was not well sealed, so my spouse used his towel to keep out the draft and noise. And the air conditioner seemed to turn off before the room reached the desired temperature. Normally I might give a hotel like this three stars, but Ed's kindness bumps my rating up to four. For a short stay, this hotel was just fine.

Ed could not have been nicer or more helpful. He checked us in/out and helped us when we needed it. The property is clean, safe and comfortable. They even have a garden in the parking lot of fruit trees and other plants and vegetables that added to the charm of the place. Location was also very convenient to the airport and good places to eat and drink. We particularly loved the cat cafe across the street 🤗.
