Bouchard Restaurant & Inn

What guests think

At Bouchard Restaurant & Inn, guests praise the walkable Newport location, welcoming staff, and tasty breakfast pastries delivered to rooms, while recurring comments note bar and street noise in some rooms, occasional slow Wi-Fi, and older-building quirks like stairs.

Many highlight the on-site restaurant for excellent dinners, with reservations recommended. Rooms are generally comfortable and some are spacious, though a few mention loud in-room AC or dated elements. Such a great place to stay! Last minute trip to Newport and we were lucky to get one of the last rooms. Very clean, very comfortable, very friendly staff! Wish we had known about the restaurant on site, absolutely cannot get in without a reservation and they sell out.

We stayed in the Eve Suite which had a separate bedroom and a kitchenette. It was perfect. Free parking is behind the bldg and reserved for Inn guests only. A delicious breakfast of warm, fresh pastry and yogurt parfait was delivered to our room each morning. The location is central to everything, very walkable. We walked to most all the activities that we had scheduled. I would absolutely return on another visit.

We met one staff member and she was extremely helpful. Our room was spacious and very clean, the bathroom although could do with some updating (but equally as clean). Only negative would be the access and very steep stairs (but appreciate that what comes with historic buildings).

It was an unexpected surprise that made our stay that much better, the suite was clean, delicious pastries were at our door each morning, accommodating food allergies. The location of the hotel is in walking distance to many shops and restaurants and provided off street parking. Can't wait to go back soon!! Give this 5 stars!!

After check in, we never saw a staff member again. The room was in worn condition, of of the window blinds was completely broken, the carpet was not clean, and the pillows were completely bizarre. On the positive side, the towels were changed daily but on one day, the cleaners didn't come until close to 4pm.

Our stay at the Bouchard in was comfortable, however, upon arrival there were a couple of things that affected our stay. We noticed stains on our pillow and the comforter, as well as a loose hair. Additionally, there were dead and live bugs in our room. We immediately requested to have our pillow and comforter cleaned, however, it was not done so even though we were promised it would be changed. Lastly, the AC unit in the room was extremely loud keeping us up at night. However, overall, the stay was comfortable and located in a great area.

Good location, friendly staff and plenty of charm. As it's an older property (which gives the authenticity, location and ambiance) it also means more difficult access with suitcases, bathrooms are a little smaller and A/C is internal.

Our stay was great! We were a little uneasy reading previous reviews about the pub next door, but our room directly overlooked the pub and we could barely hear anything - and that was over Labor Day Weekend. Noise machines and ear plugs were provided just in case, though! The room was neat and clean and the staff was friendly, accommodating one of our party members with gluten free pastries clearly labeled each morning. The pastries (both normal and GF) were delicious and piping hot every morning. I would recommend the Inn to anyone!

The only good part of our stay was the service. The Lilac room with two beds was clean, but unfortunately backs up to O’Brien’s Pub, which has a rowdy crowd until 1 a.m. While the downstairs restaurant, Audette, is a gem, the Bouchard Inn is in an unfortunate location. Besides the noise, wifi was weak and the AC was loud. If you don’t run the AC, the room is unbearably hot. Breakfast is pastry; would have liked fresh coffee. The room has a Keurig with limited choices.

A great little inn right in the middle of Newport. We were able to walk to everything we wanted to do (some walks were longer, but it's a walkable place so we enjoyed it). Rooms were nice and the small breakfast bag delivered to the room each morning was great. The only downside is that it's not the quietest place. We had the room closest to the street and bar next door and it was quite loud late into the evening. Other rooms further away may be better. They did provide ear plugs and a sound machine, which was nice, but even then it was noticeable (luckily we're heavy sleepers). Only other negative note was that the wifi was painfully slow. Luckily we weren't trying to work or anything, but we ended up just using our cell signal for data for most of the trip. Not sure if it was just a fluke or if it's always like that.

Our room in the main Inn (#3) was plenty big enough for our family of 4 with two teens. We stayed on a Thursday night and although O'Brien's right next door had loud live music playing and crowds until midnight , our AC unit helped mask the noise well enough. But I can see how this might not work for others, and a Friday or Saturday crowd might be worse in some ways. Overall, we enjoyed our 1-night visit. The location was perfect to access all downtown Newport offered on foot. Great to have parking on-site, as well. Would definitely stay again.

The inn was cute and cozy. The location was within walking distance to so many cute shops and restaurants. But what topped everything off for us was the wonderful service provided by Carmen. We arrived late so she stayed late to make sure we made it there okay. She was on the phone with us as we arrived to guide us to the parking area and help us get settled in, even though she could have just given us instructions via text or email. We appreciated that so much. We will definitely stay here again, when we visit the area again.
