The place itself is beautiful but unfortunately there was a wedding happening while we were there and it took up all the outdoor space so we were not able to enjoy it and had to pretty much stay in our room had nowhere to eat our dinner no table or chairs in our room.

Our room was fine. It had a great view. However there was no maid service. We had to hang our towels on the balcony to dry. There was a Kureg machine in the room BUT as a tea drinker the water had a coffee flavor to it. If there was someone at guest services you could get ice ( no Ice machine) but if there was no one there, you were out of luck. no vending machine for snacks no snacks available at all. Luckily there was a gas station down the road.

When I pulled in and tried to park it was full and too tight to turn around. Backing out of the parking are felt scary and dangerous. It here was loads of other parking, but there should be a sign saying No Exit. Friendly checkin though. And once in our room We have been quite comfortable. Pleasantly quiet!

It is a restored old inn and just lovely. Views are great. Our room was on third floor with no elevator but even though I use a cane, it was do-able. There is a very nice wraparound porch to sit on with wicker chairs.

It has a lovely large patio overlooking a pond or marsh but that's only useful if the weather is good! And there are no chaises or other comfortable seating places outside. Inside there is no common room/lounge for guests to sit. In some paces coffee is available or even wine/snacks. The office is in the only likely place that I could see. there must be another place to put that office.

The property was really dirty. The lady that gave me our keys early was very nice said they were cleaning our room and as long as we came back after 3 it would be ready. We stopped by early hoping to get the check in done as we wanted to go down to Salem and wasn't sure when we'd get back. The hair in the bathroom was disgusting. I get that they alway dogs...and some on the floor would not have bugged me...the bathroom was covered in hair. The sink was beyond over looking it being nasty. The cups they left for you to drink out of had hair in them. They had plastic that looked like it was put back on...otherwise there was no plastic or the plastic was open. We killed to pretty good sized spiders and 3 other bugs that we were not sure what they were. It looked like someone cut themselves and bleed on the floor and the cleaning staff over looked it when "cleaning". And last but not least they did have an ice bucket...with hair in it...but no ice machine. I would not recommend nor will I be back to this establishment.

The first room I was given had not been cleaned after the previous guest and the toilet had overflown. The second room that I was given had only a thin blanket and no sheet. The bathroom floor had many, many dead bugs. There were no drinking glasses provided.

Overall, we were very pleased with the Castle Manor Inn. We stayed in the main house on the second floor and had a lovely view. The staff were friendly and helpful. The room was a little dated but spacious, comfortable, and well-furnished. The bathroom was small, but everything worked well and it was clean. In general, the room seemed quite clean, although we found some trash under the bed from a previous guest. We didn't take advantage of the breakfast, but we appreciated the complimentary coffee. Loved sitting on the wraparound porch in the morning. We were very happy with our choice. For guests planning to spend time at Gloucester Harbor, it is worth mentioning that the direct route from the hotel to the harbor passes over a canal with a bridge that opens for passing boats. Three out of the four times we tried to cross the bridge, we got stuck for 10-20 minutes waiting for the boats to pass. Not a big deal, but it's not quite as convenient to get to the harbor as you might expect. Overall, though, we would be happy to stay at the Castle Manor Inn again and would recommend it to anyone.

We enjoyed our 2 night stay for the Bunker hill battle weekend. It was so close to Stage Fort and Stacy Blvd with gas station, store and restaurants right down the street. The room was decorated nicely and was clean. However - the bathroom - shower was a slooow drain which is gross. tiny rusty sink and nasty floor. needs new toilet. If you can get past that - go for it

The motel is clean and the beds are comfortable. The room could use a table or someplace for a lady to do hair/makeup. Shower has no shelf to put soap or toiletries. They do have shampoo/bodywash bolted to the wall, but I never use that stuff because of allergies. There isn't even a chair in the room and no rugs, so bring socks or slippers. The AC is extremely loud. Also, I paid for a room with balcony, but was in the lower level of the motel with a view of overgrown brush. The place was fine for one night, but rather expensive. I may try to stay in the Manor Inn itself someday, but the motel part is pretty questionable considering the price.

The room was perfect for what we needed, updated, and clean. Check in and out was easy. The only negative was that we were on the lower level and when the people upstairs were there it was very loud and noisy. Not sure if that was the nature of the room or just loud people.

The view on the sea was nothing as expected, we mostly see trees, a bit of water far away that look almost like a swamp and the train track. Disappointing. The terrace/balcony was not intimate at all. I did like what is more important in a hotel room: the beds were really confortable, the shower was great and the room was clean. I would have like a table and a chaur though.

Check in was easy, and friendly. The room was clean and looked like it went through some updating. The tv was small and the cable service was old school. It could definitely use some updating. It would be nice if the tiny refrigerator wasn’t on the floor. Our balcony had a nice view and the window air conditioning unit worked well.

I arrived shortly after the 3 PM check-in window. It took nearly 10 minutes to find a staff person so that I could check in. All of the check-in slips for that night sat out openly on a table at the entry. The slips prominently displayed guests’ names, phone numbers, and room numbers. This is a privacy / safety concern. It’s creepy to think anyone arriving before me could’ve grabbed a screenshot of the table and then had my contact information and room number. The room itself had mismatched bed linens on the two beds. The aesthetics of that wouldn’t really have been an issue, but the stains on the bedspreads were. It would’ve been nice to have a couple of chairs and possibly a small table in the room. (There was sufficient floor space for these items.) A couple hangers in the closet also would have been a plus. An iron and ironing board would have been nice too. The bathroom was clean, though it took a very, very long time to get hot water in the shower. My partner went to sit on a bench outside while I checked out. The boards were rotten and one gave out. He was fine, but it was a definite safety hazard, and just one example of how the property seems to be in need of maintenance and repairs.

When we arrived at the Inn (at 4 pm), there was nobody there and the door was locked (even though check-in was between 3:00-6:00). I called the number and left a message, but nobody called me back. My family ended up looking for another place to stay. When I called the following day, they were not apologetic and informed me that there had been a box with a key to the room to the right of the front door. That would have been useful to know when I arrived.

Upon arrival to the manor we were greeted by John, who had the best hospitality. We have met in a very long time, staying at a Inn. He has 5 star service with kindness! When I called regarding late check in, John stayed on the phone to offer great suggestions on scenic alternative routes to also avoid heavy traffic. When we arrived, John provided recommendations for nearby dining for dinner. The room was clean and suited our needs. Moreover, the dining staff at breakfast answered all our questions and provided excellent, attentive service.

Very nice overnight visit. The room was extremely clean and the king sized bed was very comfortable with gigantic pillows. Would definitely stay again. The price was very reasonable and the location was close to areas of dining and shopping. Beaches were nearby.veryclose able.

This is a beautiful old manor turned inn decades ago with two additional wings to house guests. The original manor has charm and an interesting history. We sat on the veranda for breakfast and looked over the marsh and river towards the harbor. The food was delish! The staff was delightful. We were able to walk into town and the main waterfront within about 10 minutes. The setting could not be more perfect for a quick visit to Gloucester. We will return.

Overall, we were very pleased with the Castle Manor Inn. We stayed in the main house on the second floor and had a lovely view. The staff were friendly and helpful. The room was a little dated but spacious, comfortable, and well-furnished. The bathroom was small, but everything worked well and it was clean. In general, the room seemed quite clean, although we found some trash under the bed from a previous guest. We didn't take advantage of the breakfast, but we appreciated the complimentary coffee. Loved sitting on the wraparound porch in the morning. We were very happy with our choice. For guests planning to spend time at Gloucester Harbor, it is worth mentioning that the direct route from the hotel to the harbor passes over a canal with a bridge that opens for passing boats. Three out of the four times we tried to cross the bridge, we got stuck for 10-20 minutes waiting for the boats to pass. Not a big deal, but it's not quite as convenient to get to the harbor as you might expect. Overall, though, we would be happy to stay at the Castle Manor Inn again and would recommend it to anyone.

I liked the beauty and style of the property. The gentlemen Jeff checking us in was very kind and helpful. However, there was a misunderstanding about the way breakfast is handled on the property. Myself and my boyfriend were told to come down the following morning for breakfast until 1100. We went down that morning and there wasn't much left but we madex at a plate. We weren't told that it was for a fee of $25 per person. We almost left and then was surprised with a $100 bill. Bad communication; next time I will confirm if it's a complimentary breakfast. Otherwise nice stay

Main building is pretty, staff is friendly and rooms clean. However most (if not all) rooms are motel rooms, and the $30 breakfast is not included. So basically you're staying in a motel with a very expensive breakfast facility nearby. As long as you know that ahead of time, you won't be disappointed.

What a perfect get away location. We were greeted by John and Chef Dave. The room was comfortable and the memory foam beds were awesome. Linens and towels were 1st class. Enjoyed mother's Day brunch, chef Dave is incredible will definitely be back

The website is very misleading.We booked a trip to Gloucester Massachusetts for our 20th wedding anniversary. This was a suggested place to stay. Only pictures shown is from the Castle Manor Inn. Not the wing extensions that we stayed in, that's not mentioned at all on the site. To charge $200 for a room that is probably only worth $80. Old outdated rooms, musty, very hard bed, took forever to get not so hot water. Then to mention about enjoying a "FREE" breakfast that wasn't free, but was charging $25 per plate. Very dissappointed with our stay and unfortunately will not be staying there again. And if I can get some kind of a refund on our room, unfortunately we will not go through Expedia again.

First morning, couldn’t figure out you had to run the shower 20 minutes to receive hot water. Third night the mirror on wall broke and fell down in the middle of the night. 2 times I called the main desk, I was hung up on.
