What guests think

Across recent reviews, Hampton Inn & Suites Selma-San Antonio-Randolph AFB Texas draws frequent praise for friendly staff, generally clean, comfortable rooms, and a better-than-typical free breakfast, while ongoing nearby road construction repeatedly complicates access to the property.

Guests also highlight convenient proximity to shops, restaurants, and Randolph AFB. Downsides noted by multiple reviewers include thin walls, mixed pillow or bed comfort, and occasional AC or plumbing problems, along with sporadic housekeeping or maintenance lapses and strong deodorizer or musty odors in some rooms. We enjoyed our stay - it was not perfect, hence not giving 5's, but really nice otherwise. Only the little things were lacking: no hand wipes in the gym, one treadmill not working, the other was a bit slanted (leaned to the side). Plus our tub was slow draining, but I'm sure the staff would have taken care of these things if they had known. Very friendly staff.

This is a wonderful Hampton Inn for your next stay in the San Antonio / New Braunfels area. The property appears to be recently updated. The rooms are clean and in great condition - bathroom fixtures are in great condition, shower head is new and works great, beds are comfortable and clean. Mini-frig, microwave, TV and air conditioning unit are all in top working condition. There were no holes, scrapes or stains on any of the walls or the carpet. Hallway carpet is clean and unstained. The lobby is very clean. Fitness room equipment is in great working condition. Pool is very clean and welcoming. Seating area has accommodations for laptop work and the 24-hr coffee is always hot. The breakfast is fabulous. A variety of eggs, breakfast meat and pastries. The self-serve waffle station has more options than I have ever seen in a hotel - lots of toppings and two types of batter (apple-cinnamon or vanilla). A good selection of cereals, breads, toppings, juices, etc. The attendant is always refreshing and cleaning. This is by far the best hotel breakfast I have experienced in a very long time outside of elite 5-star hotels with a staffed kitchen. The staff are friendly, helpful and attentive. They make your stay comfortable and trouble free. This will be on my short list of great places to stay in the San Antonio area.

Room temperature was warm. AC was not working properly. Mini fridge was really dirty inside. Bed had blood stain on it.Was changed to a different room, bed was also dirty. And mini fridge spoiled my frozen breast milk because it was nit cool. For breakfast, egg and sausages were were COLD. And internet was down. Unable to do any work as needed on my laptop. When everything was reported to front receptionist, they already had a list of “complaints” on a notebook they were writing down. Overall, the hotel smelled weird and was not in good condition. When I requested a refund, manager was not available. I also did see two other guests request and early check out. I will never come back here.

We paid $150 for a one night stay for mold growing on walls, run down conditions, terrible stench from sink in bathroom. We had to change rooms at midnight because we couldn't take it anymore. Service and breakfast was ok. Rating is exaggerated and far from what we have experienced.

My room was amazingly clean; particularly the bathroom! Amenities were well organized and tastefully displayed. Although a two night stay, I was surprised that room service was provided by changing the used towels/etc. in the bathroom. The floor that I was staying on was very quiet and added to the enjoyment of my trip. The front desk receptionist was very welcoming and provided answers to all my questions with a smile on her face. I only had one negative: the carpet deodorizer was too strong. Otherwise, great hotel!
