I booked this hotel because of the pool and because I needed a quiet place for my conference call in the morning at 8: 30. I was woken up at 7:00 with someone running a gasoline-powered leaf blower on the sidewalk in front of my door. At 8:30 my entire room was shaking because of the jackhammering removing the sidewalk around the pool area. Needless to say the pool was not operational and nobody told me. I complained to management and was told nobody could do anything to help me.

Although the property is older it was clean and comfortable. The pool was refreshing and stayed open till 10pm. The breakfast was also good. Although the air conditioner controls were above my head I was able to easily activate them by using a hanger to push a button. The staff was helpful and the property was quiet.

Staff was very nice and room was very clean. Pool area was nice with lighting and plenty of seating. Good place to relax. From the room you could hear some traffic, mostly louder cars/trucks. Our room phone kept ringing every few hours but no one was on the line. At 2am we finally took it off the hook so we could sleep. Breakfast was ok, but the Heavenly Donuts store around the corner offered lots of options and was a great way to start our day traveling on the road.

They are in the process of remodeling and the rooms were very clean and updated. I did not take advantage of the breakfast provided but there was one from 7-9am. I did, however, use the washer/dryer. Very convenient. I would stay here again.

No A/C in 100 degree weather. Everything was old and dingy. The bathroom was disgusting. Pool under construction and closed for the whole summer. Photos very misleading. We got a refund and left. Don't go here!

After a long day on the road, a hot shower and comfortable bed were top priorities and we got them. We were able to charge our EV and the donuts and coffee next door started our next day of driving off perfectly.

The property is convenient to the designated place we were visiting. The start of our visit was great with the guest services representative who was very friendly and helpful. I would give multiple 5 stars if it wasn't for our experience. The problem we had, was the swimming pool chairs were flimsy, or broken, sparse and had broken while just sitting in them. One caused injuries (cuts and bleeding) to my brother after breaking with no action other then just sitting in it. The staff member offered no help at that point and the morning representative only said he'll take care of us next time. People have sued for less. Due to family friendly restrictions, i wont show the pictures showing the injury, just the broken chair. I hope this leads to the owners making better choices in their purchases.

The bed was comfortable, breakfast was good, but no napkins. But i have an EV and they advertize having a charging station? They have a plug, with a 50 amp. + a 20 dollar surcharge, ridiculous! A/c unit in bedroom made lots of noise. Noisy area. Shower stall not clean, long briwn hair on walls.

My travel mate forgot her cooler and they held it for us to pick up on the return drive. That's exceptionally friendly customer service. However it otherwise left a lot to be desired; the pancake machine had to be started by another guest, and the room did not feel particularly clean. The AC is noisy and allows in outside noise.

The location is very busy with traffic and the noise permeates the room because a cheap, through-wall air conditioner is like an open door to the outside noise with no way to close it. Furthermore, our room was not well cleaned and had a buildup of dark dirt and filth on the bathroom floor, especially in the corners. I will not be returning to the Thunderbird Lodge as it was unpleasant at best.

Overall a nice place to stay. Not the newest but kept up well enough. One downside is a poor TV and even worse TV control. Remote must be pointed at a small sensor on a wire that was initial hidden behind the TV. Even when visible it did not always function. Literally had to get up and physically turn off the TV since the remote would not work. Also, no TV channel guide.

Broken aircon and located to the very corner of the room inside the closet, bathroom door was hard to close and noisy. The receptionist gave us the wrong directions where the restaurants. We went round and round the neighborhood. We asked compensation but not enough.

Tv didn’t work and front desk guy said to unplug all the wires and plug them back in lol (and it still didn’t work). Very little counter space in bathroom and only one towel hook that was located above the light switch so that your towel covered the light switch. Anytime you used the switch you’d accidentally knock the towel down on the floor. Minor annoyance but added to my overall feeling that the bathroom was just small and awkwardly laid out. Pancake machine was broken and breakfast was minimal compared to similar level hotels like La Quinta etc. I guess I was just confused why this place was rated so high. It was fine- clean enough- but that’s really it.

Customer service was great and breakfast was clean and easy. Rooms are very dated specifically the AC and carpets. Beds were uncomfortable and very hard. Gaps in door and frame and from the AC wall unit made it to be pretty noisy from passing vehicles. However, it is in a great area though and inexpensive.

Room was a clean. Centrally located with good food and coffee within walking distance. Check in was fast. Only complaint - bed was uncomfortable and we didnt sleep well. This is a retro motel, so review is subjective. For price etc, a good deal. Would stay again.

WAS IMPRESSED WITH HOW I RECEIVED A TEXT FROM HOTEL MANAGER ASKING HOW CAN THEY MAKE OUR STAY MORE COMFORTABLE. I WAS ABLE TO RESPOND ABOUT OUR SON WITH BROKEN LEGG NEEDING DOWNSTAIRS. THEY WERE SO FRIENDLY AND ACCOMMODATING.

I was booking my hotel for the night as we were driving… I made a mistake and selected the next day. Because I booked right at 6pm and hotel policy is no refunds and changes after 6pm charge you a full night again.. I was panicked and couldn’t get through to a live person at Expedia. I called the hotel while I chatted the virtual assistant… the gentleman at the hotel said no problem and gave me the phone number for Expedia… within just a few minutes everything was resolved with no additional cost.. now for the room, quite clean and comfortable. Literally right downtown and in walking distance to many places to eat! Will definitely stay here again

Was unable to stay for breakfast and had family emergency. had to check in only to sleep a few hours. Staff had to wake t up to let us in. understand it is his job but felt so appreciated for him during a stressful and sleep deprived momemt. Only stayed or 3 hour sleep. Beds comfortable.

To start, the gentleman at the front desk was incredibly friendly! He saw I had a bunch of kids (3 rowdy boys) and ensured I had a bottom floor room. A lifesaver after being in the car for over 10 hours because there was no way I was keeping them completely silent. He also ensured I had a parking spot near my room and gave me all the info I needed (pool hours, breakfast, etc.) The room wasnt huge but we just needed it for our pitstop for the night. It was super clean, the AC was already running (it was still 90 degrees outside at 10pm), and completely stocked with linens/towels/etc. the room smelt fresh. Which after staying at a motel 6 nearby on our drive down that smelt like marijuana and mildew, I was very pleased. The pool was a little run down but you can tell that the managers and staff are working hard to upkeep the motel. The pool was open until 10 and my kids really enjoyed getting to play after a long day. There’s an ice cream shop around the corner we were able to walk to, along with lots of other food options. There was a lot of foot traffic at night in the area, which made me a little uneasy but had no issues walking to get ice cream and back. The breakfast in the morning was great. We really enjoyed our short stay and definitely recommend!

When we walk outside homeless immediately showed up asking for $. I had to tell one guy Do you want me to get my gun? He did leave right after I said that. There was no ventilation in bathroom. The beds were super hard we did not sleep well at all. Will not be returning. Downtown Redding has a big problem.

The motel is being renovated throughout. Our section was fresh and clean. The air conditioner needed to be replaced and that would make it as good as any. One of the main drags was right behind us with plenty of shopping and night life. Only draw back was as in most cities now you feel a bit uneasy with the panhandlers.

The retro 1960’s motel is being completely upgraded with very clean, modern style. It is right in the middle of trendy section of Redding. Very walkable to restaurants, shops, events, and bike trails.

Air conditioner had no directional vent louvers. Blew cold directly on bed. Called front desk and was told all the rooms were like that. If that is the case they need to replace all the units. Breakfast was from 7:00 to 9:00 and went down at 7:30 and there was no coffee and the people who were there before us said there wasn’t any when they got there either. We left at 7:45 and that’s when someone came in to start brewing coffee. We left to find coffee and something to eat as the food selection was very limited. Location was nice as everything downtown was accessible by a short walk. Probably won’t stay there again.

We were on bottom level of the newly decorated section of the motel. I appreciated the cleanliness. But with no carpet it was extremely noisy from the people above us. We heard every step, movement of furniture, etc. also if you’re a lite sleeper there was street noise. Breakfast choices were minimal. I wouldn’t stay here again.

Got there at 1:30. Lobby closed at all times. No one would answer the buzzer. Finally found someone after 30 minutes. Noisy with sirens at night. Homeless sleeping under windows of rooms on sidewalk. Downtown area a little sketchy. Morning breakfast opened at 7:30am instead of 7am. Very limited breakfast. Pool dirty with limited chairs.

Clean, modern enough and very very walkable in the downtown area. Mattress was a bit soft and lumpy for my husband . Breakfast is bread, yogurt, hard boiled eggs, instant oatmeal and drinks .

This is an older motel but upgraded and very clean. We slept great even though it was 115 degree F weather. The manager was friendly and check in was easy. Our AC was on when we got to our room. The pool was a refreshing spot after a long drive. The free continental breakfast was better than Holiday Inn express! We would come back!
