Stay Express Inn Elko

What guests think

Across many reviews, Stay Express Inn Elko is praised for friendly, hands-on owners and very clean, recently updated rooms that feel quiet and comfortable, while the exterior looks older and overall amenities remain simple.

Guests highlight good value and a central, convenient location near restaurants and main roads. Breakfast is a simple continental setup in the lobby, sometimes limited in space and selection, with trays to take food back to the room. Common drawbacks include small parking, spotty Wi-Fi, a few uncomfortable mattresses or aggressive showerheads, and occasional housekeeping lapses. Overall, expect a clean, updated budget stay with warm service.

All in all good price/clean/honest staff..... 1. Stay Express does not accept pay from Expedia so you have to pay at the office(Expedia does not tell you this). 2. Parking has tiny parking spaces and there seems to not be enough parking for all the cars for this Inn. 3. Very clean, neat, recently updated, comfortable beds. 4. Not a lot of electrical plugs and no USB hook-ups. 5. No working ice machine.

Friendly staff, clean room, and comfortable bed. My room was cleaned every day. For the price, the hotel had exceeded my expectation. The only minus was that I was not able to connect to their internet. I didn’t ask for help because I had a great phone reception.

Great find. Reviews are good for this property as owners care and offer great service. Paul was very kind at check in. The room had a comfortable bed, good shower that drained, and I liked how the parking lot was well lit up at night. We will be back.

An old-fashioned drive-up motel, which I like for convenience. The interior had the best renovation I have seen at this price point. Very good for an overnight stop and for the price. Good internet and tv.

Stay was good but cleanliness was a little issue this time. The bed had food on it and bathroom was not clean. Little usually as this wasn’t my first time and I had high expectations. Always good to know that worker trucks stay and go early in the morning. I usually use them as my alarm.

The bed had been made but the bottom sheet was dirty. I went and got clean sheets from the check in guy. Next to the bed was an old water bottle, used straw and black crayon. The bathtub was dirty. Yuck, I'm not really sure how they have such high reviews.

This property is the best budget motel I've come across. The property is being upgraded by the owners and the rooms are extremely clean, with more than adequate towels, the sheets are new and clean, the pillows new. No pets or smoking is allowed on the property. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The parking area is being upgraded and there's a big city park very close by. There are more than adequate restaurant options including a Chinese restaurant right next door to the motel. There's an Albertson's supermarket nearby along with banking and other services. All in all, I'll stay here again if I'm passing through Elko and as I said, for under $100 you simply can't do any better than this property.

Service from the staff was great, but this property could reach that next level if some work was done to improve the parking lot and exterior. But the biggest thing is improving the rooms. The bathroom looked to be recently redone, however the carpet was old and stained. And the worst thing is that I pulled off the sheet and checked the mattress/box spring and it looked like a crime scene.

This is a basic motel, & for that category was pretty nice. They've obviously put a lot of work into renovations & mostly did a nice job. Some thoughtful touches like curved shower curtain rod to make it feel more spacious, attractive bathroom tile & fixtures. I don't understand why so many people commented on a comfy bed - maybe some have been replaced & not others, but mine was a standard old-style innerspring mattress with no comfy pillow top or anything. It wasn't horrible but also wasn't especially comfy. Missed the mark on some things - baseboard molding wasn't properly installed or painted, so looked dirty when I think it was just poor coverage. I will stay the person who checked me in was exceptionally nice & friendly. It was also very quiet despite being on the main street of town (we had an "inside" room with windows on the back side of the property). Overall I think it was a great value for the price.

We just needed a place to sleep for one night. The bed was comfy and check in easy even though we had a late arrival. The managers were friendly. Breakfast included juices, cereal/oatmeal, muffins, bread, apples, yogurt, string cheese, and a waffle maker for fresh waffles. Trays were available to take the food back to your room since there were no dining tables in the breakfast area. Our room was quiet for sleeping but could hear other guests in the morning. The only negative was the shower head in our room, 112 needs to be replaced.

I spent a good deal of time checking the reviews before deciding to stay here. Yes, the motel lacks a little curb appeal, but the updated room and the fantastic customer service more than made up for outside appearance of the building. Paul was so helpful. Main thing was to have a safe parking spot for my car since I was moving and had a lot of stuff in there. People that work at the mines stay here with all their equipment on their trucks. Nothing gets stolen! Staff is very friendly and knowledgeable. Small continental breakfast, very quiet and clean. We did have one bed that looks like the sheet was not changed but there was plenty of top blankets to cover it and still sleep. Bathroom sink also sometimes was not draining well. I think all pipes might be connected so if someone else was running water it would slow. Also water pressure from the shower is super strong which was amazing!! I will definitely stay here again if I’m the area.

Although breakfast is included with stay, there is no dining room at this place. The food is located at the check-in desk area, where you must place your breakfast on a tray and then walk it across a parking lot to your room. On top of this logistical inconvenience, a key staff member questions you on how much food is appropriate on your tray. Otherwise, the room is very clean and modern.
