Showboat Hotel Atlantic City - 4-Star Comfort

What guests think

Reviews of Showboat Atlantic City describe a family-focused hotel with an on-site water park and arcade, a prime boardwalk location, and generally friendly staff, but frequent complaints about cleanliness, aging facilities, and long elevator waits stand out.

Rooms range from spacious suites with ocean views to dated, noisy spaces with low, uncomfortable beds and unreliable Wi-Fi. There is no standard hotel pool (access is via the paid water park), on-site dining is limited or closes early, parking carries extra fees, and broken ice machines and other closures are common. Cleanliness and housekeeping are inconsistent, with multiple reports of stained carpets, odors, pests, and rooms not serviced; phones often go unanswered and check-in can be delayed. Expect an activity-heavy, family-oriented stay with trade-offs in polish and reliability.

I’m not at all giving this a bad review, it is a reliable hotel for the price point for sure. Some of the decor and some of the rooms are definitely dated and need some repair as you would somewhat expect. If you don’t realize this, a lot of hotels along the beaches definitely struggle with maintaining good quality Interiors. I will say that I was blown away with how big this specific room arrangement was. The room that we were in there was a big balcony a king size bed, a rather large bathroom with a Jacuzzi tub and a shower and a water closet, a desk area TV. It was a very big room with a chaise lounge in it. When you came out of that room, you were in a mini hallway and there was a powder room so there was two bathrooms and then in the main area, there was a massive living room area with a nice table off the side, and I’m also another little alcove off to the side and then a kitchen area, which was just fine. Through the passageway, of course was a secondary room with all the normal room things. So it was a good size room and would be excellent for a family. I decided to book it for a family member celebrating a birthday. So it was just the two of us, but it was nice to have our own space. The people there are really nice that work there. If you were looking for a casino, remember they do not have gaming tables. That being said they have an outstanding arcade and they have a go kart track and a bunch of other stuff. So it’s definitely a good economic price point.

I like this hotel for my kids due to the ammeneties such as the generous size of the arcade roller skating water park mini golf and water park. It’s adult friendly if you like to drink to stay calm . The hotel however is old especially the rooms. I also noticed the elevators by the arcade was out of service 3 of the 6 and at one time 4 out of the six. This caused long waiting times especially during “rush hour”

Hotel was older but was aware of that - was not aware every single ice machine was BROKEN! EVERY SINGLE ONE! Myself and 2 other people that met in the elevator looking for ice went to every floor...went to the front desk and agent told us she didn't know what she was supposed to do about it. We asked if they had a back of house ice machine and was told she didn't know and have a good night. Restaurant and bar both said no.

This "resort" is a rip off and the website is misleading. Upon entering you are slammed with extremely loud music. It is overwhelmingly unpleasant. This hotel has no normal pools. Instead you have to pay $69 per person to enter the overcrowded waterpark. One small pool and a lazy river stuffed full of rowdy people. There is no relaxing in the river or actually room to swim. If you are into getting splashed and pushed then this is for you. The few chairs/lounge chairs are taken by people's belongings. Do not go after 4pm when ticket prices drop and you are sardined against other people. The adult only area is small with few chairs and although quiet, was a place for drunk couples to mess around in the water. The outside "game area" is a joke. Dont fall for the webpage. The rooms are on the poor side. When i walked into mine the smell of marijuana was overpowering. I asked for air freshener 3xs but they never came over even tho the cleaners were in our hallway. The furniture is sad with extremely uncomfortable super hard thin mattresses. There was a tiny wicker bedside table between the beds which is so small it held a bottle of water and the yellowed 1990s hotel phone. The linens were poor quality and looked stained. The bathroom needed basic repairs. Toilet struggled to flush and moldy shower curtain. Not a single ice machine worked in the entire hotel. The burger place and the small cafe were really good. The smell of marijuana is everywhere be prepared.

When we first arrived there, there was eight elevators and only two were working and people are waiting up to 45 minutes to try to get an elevator up or down. Had to walked down from floor 18 to main lobby. Only two working ice machines in our tower. Restaurant We’re close they say they're doing renovation, but there wasn’t any renovation going on. There was escalator and they were not working either. Front desk directed to parking garage. Was not expecting to have to pay parking on daily basis. Since it’s no longer a casino is that why the charge for the parking. Rooms floors were dirty and no ice bucket in room had to ask for it. Overall was not worth the money or stay there.

This was the dirtiest hotel room that i have ever experienced. The hallway near the room smelled like wet carpet. The room had furniture that was broken, stained furniture, stained carpets and the bed sheets were so thin that you could seen the print of the mattress. They should never rent a room like that to anyone. The best part of the experience was that they gave me my refund without a problem, however they should have offered me something for my time waisted.

The reason for my stay was to attend a concert on the boardwalk. When I returned to my room took a shower got into bed when I noticed a cockroach crawling on the wall near the TV. I killed the roach with my sandal. Got back into bed, and the other double bed in my room was another roach crawling on the pillow / luckily I was able to videotape this videotape…. Pack my bags immediately went down to the front desk they offered no resolution other than they will reimburse me refund me. They were not able to give me any type of email confirmation regarding this refund. I was highly disappointed to find two roaches in my room second apart. This is terrible and poor conditions for a supposedly luxury hotel. I plan to follow up by emailing the management the information was provided by Miss Alba the desk clerk.

There were people yelling in the hallways all hours of the night and into the morning with absolutely no action taken by staff. When we got in the room the bed is not comfortable I’m not sure why they have this metal frame that lay low and creak everytime you get up . Then the fridge kept leaking water all over the floor we had to call room service and a manger twice never told us what was wrong . The shower would clogged up. Our tv bearly worked it kept stopping and buffering so we couldn’t watch tv , log into any of the apps so we didn’t have any television at all. The hallway had a rank smell to it i believe because of the carpet. We stayed in room 119.

We rented the Oceanview King w/Balcony. It was spacious with mini-fridge and microwave The Showboat has some great attractions for families with children (arcade, waterpark, raceway etc.). Lots of people with pets. The room showed wear (torn carpet, missing outside handle on sliding door, scratched floors, cobwebs in sliding door). But the views from the wrap around balcony were amazing. We didn't like the motion sensored air conditioning. No matter what temp you put it on, it cuts off during the night when you're not moving until it hits 73. We kept going from hot and sweating to cold.

The room was ok, little outdated. I was very upset about when we checked in about 9:30/ 10pm, there was no carts available for our luggage and belongings and I do not know why that was bc it was dead in there. Only 1 person at the front desk, also leaving was the same issue!! The room locked when leaving we had to make multiple trips back and fourth. The tub would also fill up to your ankles when the shower was on. There was also no hairdryer in the bathroom. Staff was extremely loud waking us up in the morning banging the doors open and closed, talking and laughing I opened the door to see what was going on. Very unprofessional

Inhad to ask to come clean the room. There s is no coffe maker in the room. I had to pay for a cup of hot water to make some tea. Overall this hotel should bot be in businesse and not as family friendly as they say. There is no free parking, its 25 dols pwr day. The valet is 36 plus tax and tips so we looking at 42 dols.

It was the worst experience I have ever had in an Atlantic City hotel. Check in is listed as 4 pm. I checked in at 4 (they took my money and the charge for the incidentals) but after doing the transactions, then they tell me my room wasn’t ready but would be less than 30 mins. An hour later I went back to the desk and they gave me a room. Went to the room and THE ROOM WAS NOT READY. Back down to the desk and they gave me a different room. We went to that room and by this time it was 530. The second room did not have any hand towels or washcloths. Housekeeping was seen on the floor so I went to ask for hand towels. I asked her and her answer was “NO”. I said excuse me, and she repeated herself. NO! No reasoning why just a plain NO. I should probably mention the whole hall way toward the cart was smelling like someone was smoking pot. I found the origination of the smell when I got to the housekeeping cart. I am so very disappointed with this stay. We have been there before and never had an issue. I will be thinking twice before booking there again

Not many food options inside the hotel. No slots which is a huge bummer. Arcade is alright. The skate rink and the go karts were cool. Mini golf was reasonably priced cash wise but over priced for the arcade card. It’s at the end of the strip so you have to walk to a casino to play slots or to shop and eat. Housekeeping needed reminders to clean but they did great when they came. Room was outdated, no microwave, carpet was really gross and a roach was found on the table. The Wi-Fi is terrible and didn’t reach our room. The elevators never seemed to run smoothly and there was always a massive line to get on them. It is kid friendly for amenities to an extent but they easily get bored of doing the same thing. The entrance to the beach was great though.

Hotel needs ALOT of updating. Tile work is dingy, carpets are tapped together and down. The overall scent was musty and thick. There were holes and cracks in the tile flooring, the wall to wall carpet was wrinkled and loose in the room, forget barefoot. Every door was old and heavy, creaky and slammed shut loudly. Constant extremely loud music 24/7 blasting throughout the main level, we couldnt even talk to eack other or staff without screaming. There was a homeless man sleeping in our hallway at midnight. The 25.00 breakfast buffett was old and tired, I have seen better continentals in a truckstop. Nothing other than fast food to eat on location. The tower elevators took forever and ever...And then forever some more. If the stairs were an option, we would have used them. Then indoor journey from the parking garages were not climate controlled, cleaned or monitored for safety. The ice machines were all broken in our area. Management changed and downgraded our reservations last minute and offered compensation..which we still havent been contacted about or recieved 4 days later.

After switching to another room, we requested room service after the first night, and the cleanliness was ok. We’re a family of 4 and the shampoo, conditioner and body wash wasn’t enough. We didn’t get refills. Also we were a bit shocked that the waterpark didn’t have towels unless we purchased it for $20. We’re aware that it was off season; however, the food in the hotel isn’t great, no restaurants for families that want more choices than fast food. Hoping the summer has better food, that’s what makes people want to come.
