High Peaks Resort

This property had a great location, great pools both indoor and outdoor. Easy to use lake front equipment like kayaks and paddle boards. Only complaint is that they don't have smart tvs. Seemed to be the only drawback. Everything else was well maintained and kept up so i was suprised that this was the case.

The pool was broken.

This place is terrific--friendly, accommodating staff, fantastic facilities (the pools, the kayaks and paddleboards on the lake). Great for a summer or winter getaway.

This is a great resort. The property is well maintained and clean. There are several pools to choose from. The only challenge was the kayaks were always gone when we tried to use them.

This is a full service hotel. Coffee and granola bars in the lobby in the morning, cookies and lemonade in the afternoon. A water fountain to fill your water bottles. Cozy seats everywhere for games and drinks. Towels at every pool (2 indoor, 2 outdoor). Kayaks, peddle boats, and paddle boards at the lake front are included. Excellent bathroom amenities with high flow showers. It is not cheap to stay there, but the facility leaves you satisfied that you received what you paid for.

Very friendly staff. Convenient location and accessible pools. Room was perfect and clean for what we needed. It seems that the lake house indoor pool and jacuzzi are in need of cosmetic treatment. Looks like time to paint or redo pool. Retile the jacuzzi. Overall i wood go there again.

If you consider prime location, large rooms with waterfront balconies, free parking, two outdoor pools with free chairs and umbrellas, free various waterfront activities and weekly morning pool and group programs, the price appears way more reasonable and acceptable

High peaks was great for our summer stay in lake placid. We were in the waterfront collection and the ease of lake and pool access from the room was amazing. The rooms were cozy and beds comfortable. I wish they had fixed the dock the other side of the lake to give more options to sit and view the lake. The included water activities was a real treat! I would love to see refillable water dispensers, they were nowhere to be found at the resort; in the summer especially, that would have been nice. Also, one night they should have a late opening at the bar at the lake house. They closed at 9pm, in the summer. I get not every night but make it into a special evening with late night bar and maybe some activity at the lake house for the guests. Also, they had a movie night but I think the movie was poorly chosen because it was rated R-comedy and there were so many kids staying there at the waterfront and watching the movies. It was just uncomfortable. Could have been a family friendly comedy/movie but they made a bad choice. Other than that, recommend the resort, cant beat the location.

The property is quite run down, needs painting, renovations and the washroom had mold on the celling, broken shower, pillows were terrible, pool area has no ambiance, pool is cold, no service at the beach or pool. overall hotel and service are not as expected compared to other local hotels we visited.

Property is in a great location, liked the water activity ammenities. Patio offers no privacy, opens onto the central activity at lake and pool areas so would not really call it a patio, rather a couple of chairs outside your door. The staff was friendly, did their job as expected. Really liked the option of the green program. Much appreciated. My only complaints would be that. There needs to be an elevator. I watched folks struggle carrying luggage, bags, and infants in car seats up the steps. Also, a microwave to heat up leftovers or coffee would be a convenient addition.

Was a little disappointed with the quality of the room , condition of room was ok , furnishings were a little outdated also the room smelled of slight damp air. Apon inspection of the bed it looked like the bedding was not changed due to soil marks on the sheet and pillows ; looked as the housekeeper just remade the bed following the last guests stay. Even though they promptly fix this issue I was left slightly disappointed. Customer service is very good ; despite the issues I’ve pointed out . The host on check in was very nice and informative, the housekeeper that was on duty came promptly to change my bedding . I would give service of stay 4.5 stars but unfortunately the hotel cleanliness and look a 2. I will relay my issues soon checkout and see if I am compensated in any way . For the price I would say you can find much nicer places , unless you’re looking for very nice service

My hubby and I spent a few days celebrating our 37th anniversary. Check in was early, front desk staff was excellent- friendly, helpful, & gave us a glass of champagne! Room was clean, ( & cleaned daily) spacious, nice amenities. Rural decor. Beautiful view of the lake. A bottle of champagne was delivered to our room in the afternoon, wonderful surprise and greatly appreciated. We swam in the outdoor heated pool which was a bit dirty but nice and warm. Breakfast at The Dancing Bears was delicious and service was fast, and friendly. No complaints!

This hotel is very shabby and is in need of a reno. The main hallway and floors are scuffed and there was alot of dirt and bits of garbage. The furniture is worn and far too soft. The room is ok if you can tolerate a slight mould smell. The windows have shutters that let in lots of light in the morning. This hotel was overpriced.

We found some boogers on the sink when we entered our room. The A/C is terrible and loud. It was located directly above the bed and blew on us constantly. We woke up with sore throats. Other than that it's a nice hotel.

Overall the room was very clean, it was a very comfortable experience

Our room was perfect: clean and quiet. But only one restaurant was open (Dancing Bear) and it was not really clean: table and chairs were sticky. No room service available during our stay. So we decided to go elsewhere for dinner. At least there were many other good restaurants nearby.

Room is definitely outdated. Definitely could use a deep clean.

Our room was not the one we booked, the water from shower would leak outside and the room had random pair of socks on the floor and food. It wasn’t as expected.

Overall we had a good stay. The front desk staff was great. Views were great as well. Only a couple minor issues. One being the particular room we were in was right next to a main entrance door so even at like 10:30pm we could hear the door slam. Other was I happened to look under the bed to look for one of my children’s toys and found an empty Gatorade bottle, a empty apple sauce pouch, and what looked like an old dried up jalapeño pepper. Everything else seemed clean but they should really check under the beds !

We stayed in the Waterfront rooms. Gorgeous views and great location, walking distance to everything. Waterfront rooms are a bit older. You can hear your "neighbors" and the room amenities aren\'t as nice as the main hotel.

Extremely welcoming at the front desk on check-in. Room was spacious, cozy and comfortable. We were however right next to the elevator and door to the parking garage so it was a bit noisy at times. Location of the hotel is good and parking is convenient, and free. We’ll certainly be returning.

The place is in need of renovations. The carpet is old. The wallpaper is peeling. The grout in the bathroom is cracked. The drain in the tub does not open enough to allow the water to drain fast enough. And the shower area is too small. However, the location is unbeatable and the view is magnificent. We also enjoyed the paddle boats and the deck chairs.

We stayed in High Peaks for two nights in a waterfront room (716). The location is absolutely breathtaking. The room itself was very spacious and comfortable, I gave it a 4 star for comfort as bed was a little hard for my liking but I know that is personal. The staff at the waterfront were helpful and friendly, the kayaks, paddle boards etc are free of charge and readily available. The hotel itself is in a great location in the town within walking distance of everything. I would highly recommend this hotel and would return without hesitation.

We booked our room thru expedia..we were looking for a place with all of the amenities that high peaks has to offer. Our only problem was, we were in the Waterfront collection and not in the actual building where all the Amenities are located. That was a bummer since we were looking forward to not leaving our building for anything.. About our room in the waterfront collection..it has an adjoining room with a locked door between yhem..the adjoining room was full of children that were loud from 530 a.m. to 11 a.m. and 4 p.m. til 9 p.m. .. So our get away looking for peace and quiet did not go as planned..also sliding glass doors made the room frigid .

The rooms have been remodeled since the last time we were there. Not crazy about the connecting doors, but everything else was great!

I loved our stay. The view was incredible! Staff was very friendly and attentive. The only constructive feedback I have is that the rooms could use updating. The walls are paper thin and we could hear children running around and dogs barking through the walls. And the shower leaks very badly onto the bathroom floor and presents a level of danger while using hair dryers etc.

Nice room sliding glass door didn't work right had t call maintenance twice. Veiw was beautiful

Everything about our stay at High Peaks was great! Service was friendly and helpful and the room was spacious and comfortable. I would definitely recommend staying here and hope to stay here again!

I loved the room decor and the view! Staff were very friendly and helpful. Location is great, and common areas are comfortable. I'll definitely stay here next time I come to Lake Placid!

We've stayed in Lake Placid more times than we can count, but it was out first time at High Peaks. We were greeted by the most friendly young man, Nick, at the front desk and he really was out favorite part of our quick 1 night stay. I explained that we'd never been there and that our trip was very spur of the moment, so I wasn't even sure if I'd picked the right room online. He quickly said, "Oh don't you worry.. I've got you covered!" He upgraded our room to match all of the things we wanted and then said," Wait for it... It even has a fireplace!" 😅 We loved this kid's energy so much! He then handed me a complimentary glass of prosecco (my favorite!) and sent us on our way. Thank you, Nick! 😁 The room was nice and spacious, but if there was anything they could improve on, I'd say it was the cleanliness of the bathroom. It was wasn't gross by any means, but the grout in the bathroom floor hasn't been cleaned in a good long while. Great water pressure in the shower, so that was really nice. The TV in the room was older so we weren't able to use the guide, and it wasn't a smart TV so there's no connecting to Netflix or anything like that. Nick was nice enough to send us another remote control, but we think it was a TV issue and not a remote issue. Overall, a nice experience and we'll probably stay here again 🙂

When I checked in was told all taken care of through Expedia (at a higher rate that would not be refunded). We received our room that was not what we paid extra for, but were tired after traveling so didn’t argue further since felt it would lay on deaf ears. Was disappointed since we were there to celebrate our anniversary which we had been mentioned but nothing was said or done. Tried to sit outside but was super noisy from what we figured out was a firefighter party. Upon checking out we were told we had a balance and had to pay, not their fault check-in staff told us wrong information. Bad impression left overall, Will not be back. Other than all the noise & rude staff our room was nicely decorated and clean.

Horrible check in. Ryan claimed my card was declined (he entered wrong exp date). He sent us to wrong parking lot/building. Had to unpack/repack my car to drive to another facility. Building is not ADA compliant with no elevator and was given a room up two flights of stairs which I am unable to climb. I called to complain and was given a different room, but it took 1/2 for someone to bring the key. Nice room but WILL NEVER STAY AGAIN!

I stayed there for 5 nights and my card key stopped working twice during my stay - both time due to wrong checkout dates. How difficult can it be for a front desk person to register a guest for the right duration? Also I asked if the breakfast was included and was told “no”. The morning I checked out I noticed there was a free continental breakfast at the lobby. The room was nice but employees were not professional.

staff is amazing

We had a bit of a rough stay here. We booked a premium room/suite that was near both the lake, and one of the outdoor pools. The state health department closed the pool due to unsafe conditions on the first day we were there. It did not reopen for the length of our stay. We politely mentioned we were disappointed when they text us asking how the stay was going. No apology was even offered. They just told us to use the other pool which was at another property, down the street and very crowded. We also had very noisy guests above us. Not the hotel‘s fault, except for the fact the old rooms mean you can hear a lot of noise. Lastly, the power went out. It was a planned outage due to construction, but nobody told us about it. The room got really hot. We also did not have Wi-Fi and we were unable to do any work in the room. When the power came back on, I let the desk know that we still did not have Wi-Fi. Again, no apologies. I would normally feel bad leaving such a negative review, but we gave this property multiple opportunities to address the issues, or even just show some compassion and apologize. It seems to me, it’s not very well run.

Loved everything about the place, but the friendliness of the staff was incredible.

Wonderful location with access to food and shopping.

The view was very nice, but we weren't allowed to use the paddleboats that were in the water. i was disappointed that the check in person was not very knowledegable about dogs allowed in attached restaurant. Also very disappointed that the Lake House did not have elevators and being on vacation and having to deal with so many steps, especially with a dog.

My daughter and I stayed here on a quick trip to hike in the ADKs. Because we were there off season the hotel was more affordable than usual. It’s a beautiful hotel with a lot to do (way more in the summer). It’s right in the heart of Placid and allows you easy access to all of the shops and restaurants.

Beautiful views, right in town. Everything is walkable and family friendly. Everyone had a great stay!

My favorite hotel in Lake Placid! Great location, easy parking and walkable. The lobby is lovely with a fireplace and sparkling wine! Rooms are comfortable and well maintained. Staff is courteous and available. They have many categories of rooms on Expedia and it's a little bit difficult to know exactly what type of room you will have (if that is important for you). Overall, I highly recommend this hotel and go back regularly.

Great location/nice rooms. Insufficient water heater capacity -No hot shower for 2 of 4 days stayed- lukewarm for about 30 seconds, then cold. Though food was very good, restaurant service was poor to fair- first nite's coffee arrived cold and tasted terrible (following a.m. was fine).Website does not adequately describe differences between "waterfront" and location of the other site properties - best to call for specific description of what each location does and does not provide as they are very different.

Went for a family vacation in May. Even though it wasn’t high season we were very happy with our stay in Lake Placid. Hotel staff was helpful, smiling and caring. Room got cleaned as we simply asked for new towels. We had really good hotel service. Great location. Everything was at a walking distance from the hotel. The Mirror lake so close to the hotel brought a really calm atmosphete. Free and easy access parking was also kids friendly. Room was fine and clean. Bad point is the AC was very loud and hot water wasn’t hot enough. Little balcony was nice with the lake and pool view. Terrasse and outside pool were closed at that time of the year. Inside pool was clean and perfect for kids. Nice snacks and beverages were displayed in the lobby in the afternoon. That was a nice attention as the champagne we were offered at the check in. Food service in the room was poor quality. Pizza was good but the kids menu was a very cheap mac n cheese (kraft dinner) for 14$. General experience was good.
