Rodeway Inn Lake Placid South

Filler valve on toilet was shot. Had to flush by filling the tank up with the ice bucket. Outside door would only latch sometimes. Door was left open by cleaners while we were out. Brought issues to the front desk and was told that we would get a discount by one worker and that a note would be left for a manager by another. Place was booked, so no other rooms were available. Needless to say, no concessions were made by management. Why would they? They made their money. Also, just stop saying you have a pool. Im willing to guess that there really arent plans to reopen it. Won't stay again.

Comfortable beds with soft sheets, slightly outdated but well-maintained. Spacious rooms and less than five minutes to Placid. When we were there, there was a sign on the pool saying it and the spa area were out of order until further notice.

Put into a room with a broken shower head. Despite expedia information -> Pool/hot tub out of service; no breakfast.

Shuttle access was excellent, and staff were very nice and helpful. I had a good sleep. The pool was very cloudy and the breakfast was overpackaged.

We have been coming here for many years each hockey season; the hotel definitely took a turn since our last visit. The pool and hot tub were closed, and breakfast no longer offered--no notification ahead of time. That should be considered false advertising as nothing on the site indicated this! I see now by seaeching reviews this has been going on for a few months with many complaints...why not let people know? These are some of the only reasons we stay here as the rooms are very dated and there are no other perks. Our room definitely needed some attention; mild/mildew spots on the ceiling and questionable stains on the bathroom floor. TV was on the desk (so could not use the desk as a...desk). One chair was so wobbly that we couldn't sit on it for fear of it breaking. No choice but to stay as it is a busy CAN/AM weekend and hotels are booked. Should have been a discount and/or notification of pool/hot tub closing and no breakfast (AT LEAST AT CHECK-IN!) People with children PLAN on these things--at least update the website or notify customers by email ahead of time. Unfortunate as we come to Lake Placid often and will definitely now avoid the Roadway in the future!

The last two times I’ve stayed here have been pretty disappointing. Both times the pool/hot tub was closed. Additionally I was charged twice for my stay last time and it took 6 weeks for them to refund me. There was no breakfast this past weekend as well (not sure if that’s a forever thing or not). The shower curtain was way too small for the shower. Water was splashed and the bathroom floor would basically flood every time you used the shower. This was unavoidable while showering. Our toilet also clogged multiple times. I’m not sure if it’s new ownership but this hotel unfortunately has taken a turn for the worse. It was also a descent place to stop after a long hike in the ADK but for the price you can find better.

no continental breakfast, pool was broken, coffee at desk was only powder cream, general repair of room satisfactory with heater that worked off and on.

It was convenient that the property is on the free bus shuttle line. The staff at the reception desk for very friendly and helpful with any questions. The one down side was that the indoor pool was closed down for repair.

There were three dead bugs in the bathroom on the floor. Another dead bug on the vent under the bathroom sink. Found another bug in the process of dying on one of the three pillows on the bed. And another trying to die on the floor inside the door where we had already walked. I thought they were roaches, but after looking online, they may have been water bugs, but I'm not positive of what they were. I just don't think I need bugs, dead or alive, in my room. It was late at night when we arrived, had booked online, and no other rooms available in the area, so didn't have much choice but to stay. I did not sleep well, to say the least. The following morning, getting ready to leave, and a bug comes out from under the edge of the bathroom sink and crawls across the counter. It was some type of centipede/water bug. I believe they had sprayed something, as some were dead and some in the process of dying. There were many people staying there, but I'm guessing it was because it was a last option. It did not look as nice in person as the picture they had online. Would not recommend as a place to stay. There was a huge gap around the door. Weather stripping would have been a great idea. Definitely not one of the better places to stay.

Solid budget option ultra convenient in Lake Placid. No frills and she’s showing some age on the exterior, but don’t let that scare you away. Perfectly clean and very comfortable rooms great for an overnight.

Property is not in great shape. Stains all over the carpets, felt like I couldn’t walk around without shoes on. Shower curtain was gross. It did the job though. Came to lake placid for hiking and really only needed a place to crash at night.

The price was affordable and I guess I now know why. Right away we were told the pool area was closed and then were given a key card for a room that wasn’t even cleaned yet! Maybe just a simple mistake but not a great start and leaves a bad taste in your mouth seeing someone else’s yucky, smelly room. In addition the main halls leading to our room had debris everywhere and remained that way through our 3 night stay. Once we got the new key card our new room did appear clean. Still, I was concerned about the hygienic practices as there was much evidence of not great cleaning. For instance, our slider door was pretty filthy and there was a candy wrapper and crumbs behind the side table. The sheets looked clean though and the bed was really comfortable. We weren’t there to hang out, just basically sleep after hiking and shower so it was fine. Just keep the place cleaner and there would be no issues. With that said, I would probably stay again for a quick hiking trip and it was a super convenient location, but not a place I would book if I planned on hanging out there.

One gets one pays for- I booked at last minute from my phone at a too good to be true rate. Check in slow, Common areas need a redo (Dirty , worn carpets and walls) . My riim had inoperative TV. Phone to call front dest didn't work. When I called from my cell get VM. Nice lady at front desk apolgized about TV-Phone "We're sorry..I can't help you, they are working on it) Motel Hell

It’s a warm place to stay, but the property has seen better days. There was mildew on the ceiling above the shower and an unidentifiable stain underneath the bathroom counter. The parking lot was not plowed while we were there, and was a sea of slush. I’ve stayed here because it’s inexpensive, but I think it’s time to spend just a little more.

Affordable place to crash in Lake Placid. If youre going there for the outdoors and just need a warm, dry place to sleep, this is a great option. Definitely dated, but clean and quiet and easy on the wallet.

The staff was very nice and the room was clean but in need of a renovation. The floor was lumpy. The bed had a spring going into my back. It is just old. I was also very disappointed that there was not breakfast as advertised. Breakfast was one of the reasons we booked this hotel.

The walls on the second floor are very thin and you can hear pretty much everything if the neighbor has the TV or or speak loudly. I stayed there two years ago on the main floor and haven't noticed that. The pool is nice to have. The morning breakfast is very basic (no fruits, no eggs or other kind of proteins). It's mostly coffee, orange juice, cereals, English muffin (no eggs - just the bread). Overall, the place is fine for a weekend.

Overall review, it’s 3 from 5. Place really need to renovated, very old in room. Even coffee machine like from 1990. Was not work , power button broken. Carpet, beds need to replace. Pool not worked Yeah, price is cheap but for twice Olympics Games town, this motel have to be in top .

I had doubts going in after reading the recent reviews, but I was pleasantly surprised. Friendly staff at check in, the room was spacious and clean, and the beds were confortable. For the price in the area, it was pretty good!

This hotel is less than 1.5 miles to Main St and the way is lit at night so you can easily walk if you want to, or take the free shuttle that stops right at the hotel every hour. Rodeway is much cheaper than anything else i found. Not so good: The rooms and hallways need renovation and repair. The lighting is dingy. The hallways smell. The faucets drip and the showerhead in my room sprays in many directions. No microwave in the room, you have to go to the front desk. The hotel gives you 2 soaps, a small shampoo bottle and a bag with coffee, powdered cream, and sugars. They don't have breakfast anymore and the pool and hot tub were closed for repairs. It was a basic, decent place to stay. I'd stay again.

No parking and no WiFi

Neither the front or back door locked. The room required 2 remotes to operate 1 tv and there were no directions for it (took us 30 mins to get the channels to come up on the TV). You initialled and paid for your stay before the rules were explained (you had to ask what you were initialing before any explanation was given. Room was VERY dated.

Have been staying here for years, but clearly things are slowly going downhill. I initially booked here strictly for the hot tub (which is usually amazing) and its proximity to town. Upon check in both pool and hot tub were closed due to the lack of a part they were waiting for. It remained closed for our stay. The room was ok, but heater-fan is noisy so not the best if you are a light sleeper. The room we were given had a TV with no working volume and outlets by bed did not work. We thought about moving to another hotel for our second night, but asked for a room change instead (which they did). The second room was better, working TV and bedside outlets, but same noisy fan. The coffee that was supposed to be available at reception in the morning never materialized and the in room coffee and machine dont work well together so the coffee was pretty terrible, also had to plug the coffee maker in the bathroom as there is no outlet where the Coffee maker was situated. On the plus side, beds were comfortable, but even for the low price, I regrettably will not likely return despite staying there on and off for over 20 years. There are simply too many better options in Lake Placid.

This property Rodeway Inn did not have a clean room for me (after sending me to a very dirty room with the door open). They just said we don’t have staff to clean their room. They did not offer me another one. I had to sleep in my car. Expedia also said they followed up but sorry the property won’t refund my fees because it was an unrefundable booking. So both the Rodeway Inn and Expedia have in effect cheated me. I hate to pursue other means to ensure they pay, but what a terrible property and staff. Don’t stay here. By the way, there were other people in the same situation. It may be a general scam that this Inn is operating where they are pocketing money but not providing the service paid for.

very nice workers,specially Angel. he was always around to make sure you were happy and your stay was to your satifaction!!! i really think and he deserves a BIG raise. because of him being so friendly(all employees),but specially him,I'll be back again with my family.

very poor check in s ervice. no pool as advertised . no breakfast as advertised . First room assigned had no heat. no ice readily available . Phone in room did not dial out. parking was amble as we were probably 1 of 4 guests there for the weekend . please stop promoting this (mo) hotel.

Came to check in and the very rude woman, if you can even call j r that, at the front desk told us we had no reservation and there was no room for us. Didn't even try to make things right basically just ignored us. After two hours miraculously some more competent employees found a room for us. Room was dirty and past due for some updating. Lock on the bathroom door didn't work, nice. I can look past the shoddy hotel room, I just want a room when I go someplace hours from home. No one wants to be told they don't have a room when they're miles from home with no where else to sleep...

As seen in the pictures the property itself is a little older. However, this hotel exceeded my expectations. It is very close to everything you may need in Lake Placid. The room was clean and taken care of before my arrival. Check in was easy and quick. The staff at this location is very friendly, welcoming, and there to help you. After an incident with Expedia, staff did everything in their power to try and resolve the issue for me. I cannot say enough nice things about the staff. I will definitely be staying here again when I visit Lake Placid in the next couple of months.

The staff at this hotel are the most incompetent individuals I have ever seen at a hotel/motel in my life. After waiting 15 minutes for the desk clerk to get off the phone I was given a room key to an occupied room. After returning to the front desk to correct the error, my second key was to a dirty and uncleaned room. While trying to get this issue corrected by the incompetent and unhelpful front desk staff a room attendant showed my partner and our young son to an available room. We waited awhile before actually receiving room keys. There were minimal acceptable levels of cleanliness throughout the room. After going to dinner we returned to our room to be interrupted by an individual and her young child outside our door around 7pm. She was foreign and could not communicate why she was trying to get into our room. Finally around 7:45pm another guest actually opened our door to be shocked that the room was occupied. I confirmed that he was given the same room number as us, an occupied room. He was shocked and confused while I was angry and disgusted. The different front desk clerk was as incompetent & unhelpful as the previous one. I also noticed that at least two other issues with guests given an occupied room occurred while my issue was going on. My partner refused to stay at this point due to serious concerns for herself and our child. I left and had to drive almost two hours home. I am in the process of a refund. No one should ever stay at this horrible hotel.

Reception service is terrible. Took us 25 minutes to just get our room key. On the plus side, we had a quite room and rested well.

Hotel looks like it was built for the 1980 Olympics and never renovated. It's too far outside of the town to walk to Lake Placid. Breakfast was very sparse, no eggs or meats, but they did have a cool pancake machine. Would have been OK if it was cheap, but at nearly $200 per night we were pretty disappointed. If you're on a budget, stay at a better hotel a few miles away in a neighboring town. You'll have to drive anyway.

Nice location outside of downtown but still close enough to walk

We didn't eat the breakfast, so can't comment on the food and don't have any complaints otherwise. The only reason we give the hotel a 4 star is because it's shows it's age and can use some updating. That said, the rates are reflective of the age as they're on the low end, but the room was clean and it's in a quiet area close to downtown Lake Placid.

We stayed here 3 nights for the 2024 eclipse, it was really affordable, and met my expectations for a motel. The room was outdated with peeling wallpaper in the bathroom, wobbly chairs, and an AC that needed a new filter (the indicator light was lit), but none of these were a huge deal since the room was clean and we were only in the motel to sleep / eat. The included breakfast options were sparse, but also not a big deal since we brought non perishables and there were a few microwaves available in public areas. I booked through Travelocity and it didn't say there was an in-room mini fridge, so I brought a portable one to keep drinks cold and was pleasantly surprised when I saw the in room unit. 🙃 There was plenty of parking and the lot was fairly decently plowed after the snowstorm that had hit a couple days prior. The walkway to the lobby for check-in was properly salted as well. The only issue I had was at check-in, when the desk clerk handed me the wrong invoice to verify my rates, but that was resolved and I was properly billed. The location was REALLY convenient, near the edge of Lake Placid. It was only a few mins drive into town for Starbucks / McDonald's / fuel; a 40 ish min drive to Lake Tupper (we went to The W!ld Center); and a few mins away from the Olympic Jumping Complex and Mt Van Hoevenburg. I would definitely consider staying here again for future Lake Placid visits!

Pool and spa was closed, reservation system was down, and clerk was on facetime all the time we checked in. Room was fine and worth the price we payed. Breakfast was very sad.

Need to be renovated. The breakfast was not a breakfast: old old mandarine, few english muffins, electrical problems so I had to move the toaster to plug it elsewhere. Lounge is in a poor basement. Room clean and functional but really need a big refresh.
