The "Family Suite" has no privacy. There is no door separating the 2 "rooms". The bathroom is so compact you have to stand between the toilet and tub to close the door. The elevator was not functional and had not been for days. We were not notified of this which created more of an issue as we were on the second floor and my husband is disabled. We purchased the insurance through Expedia, but learned Best Western would not honor it. They told us we could not get a refund or change rooms. We have stayed at Best Western locations many times before and had great experiences. This location did not meet that mark.

We were staying on the third floor in the middle of the building, and the balcony overlooked the inside pool. So we weren't able to sleep in peace until 11 p.m. The elevator got stuck twice on different floors (2 and 3), so when it finally opened, we got off and used the stairs the rest of the time. At that time (8:30 p.m.), we went to reception to report the problem, and a sign said we'd be back shortly.

Liked- on main road Didnt like- being put in a smoking room. After being moved into a chlorinated room. It was so chlorine strong! Hot tub is very dirty...shows dirt ring all the way around!

Check in was fast and efficient. Our credit card was not charged until we checked out and there was no added fees for security deposit. The only downside was we had a poolside balcony room that was very noisy from people using the pool area. If we would have known this we would have asked for a different room.

Best Western Lakewinds was recently updated and and the rooms are fabulous! We had one room but it felt like two with privacy doors and that was a nice surprise with two teenage boys! Nice lobby area to hang out in with friends. Conveniently located to downtown and right across from an amazing Mexican restaurant! Highly recommend this place.

The staff here is amazing! Super friendly and helpful. The room was small and the bathroom was tiny. However, it was good for me and my 8 yr old son. We swam, used the hot tub, and fitness area. Bring a little patience at breakfast, as they do run out of things, but are quick to replenish. Overall, it was a basic overnight stay, with phenomenal employees!

The property was clean and easily found. I was a bit disappointed to find that though it is named Best Western Lakeside, there was no lake. Lake Michigan is approximately 3 miles away. County fairgrounds is across the street and a massive RV park is behind the property making for an interesting location. However, room was clean and neat. The one drawback was our room was across from a laundry area and someone decided to try there shoes in the dryer at midnight directly across the hall from the doorway to our review. It woke everyone in our room up until the cycle was done. Free breakfast was okay but completely overrun and we had to wait 30 minutes just for a cup of coffee.

Staff was great. Hotel was clean. Bed and couch were surprisingly comfortable for a hotel. The only issue was being in a pool-side suite with a balcony and sliding glass door - the pool in indoor, which results in no outdoor facing windows due to the layout, and the room was incredibly humid, and anything made of cloth was damp - the carpet, our clothes, towels, etc.. After arriving home, all of our clothes in our suite cases smelled chlorine. I would stay here again, but never the poolside rooms - there needs to be a better seal between the pool area and the room.
