What guests think

At Argosy Casino & Hotel, travellers frequently highlight spacious, comfortable rooms and notably large showers, along with generally friendly staff, while also mentioning that the casino's smoking area can leave noticeable odors in common spaces and occasionally in non-smoking areas.

Cleanliness and upkeep are mixed, with recurring comments about dust, hair or mold, and a limited housekeeping service that often requires guests to request or pick up towels themselves. Dining is inconsistent: some restaurants and a cafe are appreciated, but hours can be limited, several venues have been closed or under renovation at times, and late-night or breakfast options are often scarce. Location is drivable to Kansas City attractions but not very central, and a resort fee is charged; some guests also report intermittent A/C or hot-water issues. Overall, expect comfortable rooms and showers, but plan for fewer amenities and variable services.

Toilet had urine on the outside of it. Vent had a years worth of dust. Chairs had stains cause they hadn't been wiped down. Lack of attention to detail. I choose this place for the gym and spa not the casino. Spa was closed and the place was dirty so I wouldn't book again or recommend.

Property failed to inform that no housekeeping services would be provided for duration of stay (3 days). Excuse is Covid but front desk acknowledged it’s actually due to staffing failures. Parking lot has sprinklers which use dirty hard water which leaves a sticky dirty film over cars and had to be washed daily or risk paint finish. Spa has been closed since Covid as well, and hotel has no pool. Overpriced for essentially a room and zero amenities and zero service. No response from email sent to management.

The ad said I go see casino hotel and spa information indicated a health club and a spa not just a workout room. I asked to see the spa before I checked in they go oh it’s closed and I go closed as in past the time or it’s not even open and they go no it hasn’t been open since Covid so I said well then I wanna cancel my reservation and they still want to charge me a night speed staff on the phone talk to the manager and said no they won’t refund you and I went back and said hey I wanna talk to the manager and she said as soon as your employee sent the email she would credit me well still don’t have a credit. I doubt your employee sent an email. I’m just angry.

At check in the staff were all very friendly and accommodating. However, we arrived to a room that had not been cleaned. Bed unmade, dirty towels everywhere etc. Went down to front desk and they moved us to a different room that had been cleaned but was still dirty. Wrote my initials in the dust. It looked as if an animal had previously stayed in the room as there was animal hair in the carpet. The room had a sour / musty odor. Lots of construction so you were not able to access the casino from the hotel without going outside. This hotel is very dated!

Our room had food left in the fridge from prior guests. The floor in the bathroom had dirt and a clump of black hair on the floor. Bedside table was sticky and I had to wipe it down. Surfaces on tables hadn’t been dusted. Bed was comfortable and made nice. 5th floor room had great fireworks views. First time staying there that our room wasn’t very clean. We enjoy staying at Argosy otherwise. 😊

Lobby and first floor hotel hallway were filthy, looked like they hadn’t been vacuumed in many days. Also, they don’t do any house cleaning of rooms if they are occupied. If you want the room cleaned before check out, you have to request it, same with fresh towels. Also, the room wasn’t cleaned well. Definitely won’t stay there again.

This hotel needs a deep clean. The carpet was dirty, there was blood on my comforter, a burger on the wall, dust on the nightstands and desk, and the tv and mirror were streaked when they wiped them. The halls had whatever was left or dropped until the next morning (food, trash, towels) when the cleaning people arrived. If you're getting a room comped, I guess it's okay, but I wouldn't pay to stay here ever again. And honestly, I'd have to be desperate to stay here on a comp.

The location was great for where I was wanting to go. My only negative is the shower - while the rain shower head was nice, the water pressure for the regular shower head was very low (especially when the rain shower head was turned off) and the water temp was not very warm. Otherwise, it was a very nice place to stay. I would definitely recommend to others and would stay here again myself.

Check-in was quick & smooth. Our room was not in the greatest condition. The hallway smelled of marijuana every time we left our room, the bathroom floor was sticky & there was a pile of dirty towels in the closet. The thermostat showed to be set at 65, however, it never got below 71. Hot, miserable sleep. The shower was extremely hot, there was no cold water whatsoever. No matter much adjusting we did, it only went feom hot to hotter. The front desk was made aware of the dirty towels on our way out to dinner but they were still there when we returned. The in room safe was also not accessible as it was locked before we arrived & nobody came to open it as requested. Needless to say, it was a one & done for us.

Upon returning at 9 p.m. we discovered there was no cold water for the shower as well, and sink had not been fixed either.

All in all, our experience was okay. You could hear what people were doing at pretty much all hours of the day and night. Also, some kid decided to run through the hall and knock very loudly on every door at 4am. Not the best. Obviously not the hotel’s fault, just not great. Probably the best part of the room was the shower. A , no notes there. It was also my first time experiencing a casino, but it was pretty on par with what I expected. Really enjoyed 99 Hops though. Food was alright, beers were great, staff was so awesome. The steakhouse left much to be desired. I wish they would’ve provided a lot more context of the food we got because what I was served is not what I was expecting. The front desk staff was so nice and accommodating though! For as high of reviews there are for this place, I was expecting a really outstanding experience. Kind of disappointing it didn’t match that.

Our room was on the first floor with the casino. The smoke was awful. Restaurants were nice but the pizza restaurant is in the casino and kids aren't allowed in (understandably) but seems like a bad idea to put it in the casino, the main restaurant that a kid would want to eat at. Housekeeping never came although we had the button checked for service. I called the desk for towels and that never came either. Had to go get them after 45 minutes. $12 a day for amenities and no room service. I picked this hotel because it wasn't far from where we had to travel daily. I'll deal with the longer drive next time.

Booked under hotels.com for my husband and children, like I have for years in many states and at many hotels. They arrived at 230 in the morning after driving for several hours. They were not allowed to check in because it was in my name and not his by 2 very rude women at the desk. I was on phone, but they refused to let him check in unless I was physically present. Because "we could be fighting and i could already be in the room and he could come in there and kill me". I would think they would no if i had already checked in, but I guess not. They said if hotels.com called them, that may work. I was able to get a representative on the phone but they would not answer. So after being exhausted and driving at night, they were turned away to find another hotel at 3 am. Hotels.com tried seveal times to contact them and they would not respond. I was still charged for the reservation we were not allowed to use. Numerous attempts to contact them have gone unanswered. Would never recommend staying here. Horrible customer service.

First, we started out our stay with a very rude receptionist, charging us three times for our room for one night. And then I went to management about it and they told me that it would come off in 2 to 3 weeks. Which is insane to me. Then we go to a restaurant and spend $150 for two people and the food instantly makes my husband sick. The casino was the only good part. I would not stay here, and I would not eat here.

Very interesting and historic property. The room was nice. Bathroom was very spacious. A couple of minor issues, though. The hot water tap of the bathroom sink had very low water pressure, and the faucet was leaking slightly. Also, the location of this property isn’t very convenient - it is not close to anything. But the price was very reasonable considering how clean, quiet, historic, and relatively upscale this hotel is. One of the most affordable options in Kansas City.

The hotel is not located close to anything. Far from everything. The lobby smells of smoke covered by a fragrance to make it less awful. But when you go up the elevators the smoke smell is strong. The third floor is the smoking floor, I was on the 9th floor and it smelt. The rooms are lovely but housekeeping could be more thorough. My shower had a hair ball from a prior guest- that was gross. And the tile floors were sticky in the entrance to our room. The shower floor felt slimy so that coupled with the hair ball definitely detracted from enjoying a large beautiful shower. Otherwise, the stay was fantastic

The only thing I would rate the hotel casino lower on, is that they have 6 restaurants in this location however, they aren't open every day, their hours and days of operation varied, like one steak house is only open on Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays..another place only open for breakfast on the weekends only...which was disappointing for us.

We dined at 4 restaurants while staying in the hotel. The only 2 restaurants I do not regret trying are Red Lotus and the Parisi Cafe'. Both have a limited menu but tasty options. The Journey was very over priced. The $80 Bone in Ribeye was dry for a medium rare and the barbecue ribs were not good at all. The only thing we enjoyed from Journey was the ceasar salad. We also went to 99 hops house. The hostess was rude and turning people away from to go orders and only wanting customers to dine in. Had a burger, made wrong and so dry it couldn't be finished. Cheese curds were nothing but breading and over cooked. The hotel itself is beautiful. The beds were comfortable and the room was quiet. It was however still dirty from the previous guests. There was still hair on the shower walls. And dust everywhere.
