What guests think

Across reviews, Wingate by Wyndham Gillette provides a convenient base near restaurants and the interstate, but recurring maintenance and amenity problems reduce consistency, leaving some guests frustrated by outages or equipment issues and others satisfied with a simple overnight stop.

Many guests highlight kind, accommodating staff, though recurring issues include slow or confusing check-ins, key cards failing, and occasional room assignment or overbooking mix-ups. Rooms are often comfortable but feel dated, with intermittent problems like TVs or Wi-Fi not working, HVAC noise or weak cooling, door locks, and frequent pool or hot tub outages or cold temperatures. Breakfast ranges from hot and varied to understocked or cold, with early cutoffs or slow restocking noted on some mornings. Expect a straightforward stopover with variable reliability; confirm amenities important to you.

Gave us a room with one bed for 3 people. Asked for a roll-a-way. Just said “I don’t think we have one” but never made an effort to actually look for one. We ended up having to go buy an air mattress. Everything we asked for was met with “I don’t think or I don’t know…”. The pool was freezing cold and the hot tub jets didn’t work. The bedding they gave us for the air mattress was stained. Very poor customer service.

The property was with out heat for a while and the ability to activate key cards were not working. They were very accommodating and still allowed us to check in, and heating was fixed by sundown. The rooms were clean. The smoke alarms went off and not sure they ever found the source. The pool was extremely cold and hot tub was not hot. The rooms/hallway smelled like smoke. All in all, it was fine and with extreme cold conditions outside I thought they were very helpful.

When we had checked in we were accidentally booked in a room that had already been occupied by another family, the property was very busy so this was understandable and addressed quickly and staff was very responsive. We were disappointed with the water pressure for it was too weak to supply the shower head. We were also disappointed to find the hot tub was not warm and pool was very cold.

The common areas were fine. The breakfast was meh…the staff was kind and helpful. However, the room reeked of mildew or mold or something funky. There were no other double queen rooms available as it was a busy weekend in town so we were stuck with it. By the end of the weekend we were all congested and feel like it was from whatever was growing somewhere in that room. Two big positives were that it was super quiet even though right next to the interstate and they offered a very late checkout which was nice for the event we were attending. Will stay somewhere else next time because of the smell issue though.

I was traveling with my 14-year old son, who does not want to sleep in a bed with his mom. Queen rooms sold out, so I booked this one. Description said it slept five with a pullout bed. The room has one king bed. The hotel’s solution was a rollaway bed with the thinnest mattress I have ever seen in my life that was not suitable for anyone over the age of 10 to sleep on. Maybe these rooms used to have pullout beds? Someone needs to change the description please.

Water stains on the ceiling, curtains didn’t close and ALL the lighting outside shined in all night- 2nd night I used the bedding to cover the window. You can hear a lot of interstate traffic going by.

I was able to gain entry to this room. Kinda got settled and tried to turn on the TV. Big ol nope. Called downstairs. Young man was up within minutes. He tried, I tried. No TV. He offered to move me again. I decided not to do that. I can only say that young man gave the best customer service I’ve had in a very long time! (Thursday, May 29th). Give that young man a raise!!

My room reservation was not on file when I arrived. The positive comment I can make was that the man at the front desk was kind and helped me get a room at his best deal. The first room I was given, the key did not work without going back to the front desk. When I opened the door, the fist thing I saw was that the bed had not been made. I didn't look further. I was assigned another room. The second day, when I came back to my room, the key did not work. When I went to the front desk, they still had the first room which I never occupied assigned to me. They had re-assigned the room that I was in to someone else, whe discovered the room was already occupied, so they cancelled my key until they figured out the room situation. When I went to take a shower, the bottle of hair conditioner which was mounted on the wall was empty.

We had a great stay at the Wyndham. The next morning I checked my credit card and was charged both by Expedia and by the hotel. It took me almost an hour the next morning to get that resolved. Otherwise, our stay was great. There's a few pieces of furniture that need to be updated at the hotel because they are showing obvious wear. Great job to Kael at the front desk this morning for helping me get the payment issue resolved.

I waited 30 minutes just for someone to come to the desk to check me in. They I was given the wrong room and when I went back I was told they didn’t have my room. I paid more for 2 beds and they gave me one bed. The desk lady said it was not her fault and I couldn’t talk to a manager until Monday. She said I was given the room due to only having 2 adults. I don’t want to sleep in the same bed as the other adult and again I had to pay more for 2 beds. I should have got the room I paid for. I’m very angry and was not once apologized to all she kept saying was it was not her fault and no one could help me until Monday.

Our bed was hard as a rock. Our room key wouldn’t unlock our door the entire stay. We went to the front desk 4 times about the key not working and each time we got told that it was probably dead batteries and they would get someone to change them, they still hadn’t changed them by the time we left. Went to the front desk for something different and there was no one to be found for about 15 minutes until another customer called the front desk from the lobby. Front desk clerk was on her personal cell the entire time talking to customers. The pool was ice cold and the hot tub was cold but not listed out of order. The room was dirty, mirror was broken in the bathroom, and the tub was gross. Breakfast food was cold. We will not stay here again…
