The free airport shuttle was very convenient but check in time was 3pm so we had to spend 4 hours in the lobby and bar waiting after our flight

service is terrible pool area been used as a storage bad experience bad choice for the money i spend

It took one hr for shuttle. No Wi-Fi all night in room. No pool no restaurant. The night manager Jack was very nice to us. There was not a sign that said Grand Royal. It says Holiday Inn. Don’t be fooled like we were. Very disappointed.

I tried to call hotel to get their airport shuttle five times. No one answered. Took a cab arrived at hotel the girl was talking nonstop on phone with a friend (on speaker phone). She didn’t even look at us and handed us key. Checked into room and one of the beds looked like there was a “frolic” and bathroom had not been cleaned. Got another room (girl just handed us key..,didn’t look at us again. Room was ok. Got up to go to advertised breakfast (a couple of quick stop danish….no coffee.). Went to checkout and guy just said throw key in basket. We proceeded to catch”airport shuttle”. Two families with about 8 bags were ahead of us. “Shuttle” showed up….it was a Toyota Sienna that after filling with bags could only take two passengers. We chose to take another $30 cab back to airport. Worst hotel experience ever!

Nice staff, but pool was under maintenance the whole time and closed. Also, the TVs were not working in the whole property.

The property was recently bought and has new management. Pool was empty and used as storage. Rooms are older and need updates. Location is off a highway and you will need transportation

Stay was not the best, first they claim the shuttle runs every hour which it doesn’t, we waited at the airport for 2 hours and it never came, it’s also hard to tell which shuttle is the right one as they have a tiny sign on the window that says holiday inn. Next the breakfast they say is a “continental breakfast” we went down at 7:30 all it was is a long table that has watered down coffee packaged cereals and muffins. We asked for towels twice and never received them. We had to keep going down to the desk and asking until they finally gave us some. We stayed Thursday to Monday and Saturday requested maid service to have our rooms cleaned up a bit, they didn’t come. Instead they came Monday the day we were supposed to check out banging on the door for maid service. Overall not the best place to stay.

This was a formerly Holiday Inn, but is now being operated under new management. The Holiday Inn sign and colors are still outside, as well as within the rooms, which is a bit misleading. The hotel is a bit rundown, with boxes/storage piled in the pool room, no AC in the lobby (but AC in rooms works) - it was 84° in the lobby. Toilet seats are old and look dirty. Pool was closed, don’t bring your children and expect to use it. The continental breakfast is free each morning, but don’t expect a hot meal - Hostess pastries are served along with fruit, yogurt, cold cereal. Shuttle to airport runs every hour and is convenient. Overall a good stay if you are just looking for a basic place to stay.

They didn't have a functioning pool, but was listed online as working. Also stated there was a continental breakfast, but it was a bunch of vending machine wrapped muffins and snacks. Decent place for the money, but some false advertising.

I suppose the facility was simply not up to my standards, as it was a budget airport hotel. The staff was helpful and courteous. And I will say the bed was comfortable and clean. But the rest was unpleasant. The hotel was recently purchased, from my understanding, so there was a lot that was closed. The restaurant area was closed, and was kept dark at night where you walk by, feeling ominous and derelict. The bathroom was not very clean, with walls needing repainting, doors showing water damage, and I found hair on what should have been clean towels. The provided cups that were sealed in plastic for cleanliness, all had holes in the plastic, negating the point of keeping them clean. The elevator button for floor 2 didn’t light up, the emergency call door looked like it was pried open with a crowbar, and the registration for the elevator was from 2023 (which may be within code, I don’t know. But two years seems a lot, I thought they were annual). Lastly, which is not the hotel’s fault, there is just not much in the vicinity. GPS said there was a restaurant next door that was open, but it looks to be related to the hotel, and was closed. When I asked for nearby restaurants, the only options were fast food, nowhere to sit down and be waited upon. The only place in walking distance was a gas station convenience store directly next door, but very limited on what to buy. I hope they are able to make it a more pleasant experience with a cleaner facility and more welcoming feeling.

The property was old and not maintained well. Ripped curtains in the room. Carpets were old and dirty with stains. Desk in the room was too filthy never cleaned its legs. Bathroom handle was broken. Bathroom has rust all over the bath tub. Health Hazard to live. They told us it’s going to be renovated soon.

This place is completely run down and very dirty. Closet doors were missing, the shower was filthy as were the walls in the bathroom. The staff at the front desk were very nice...that was about the only good thing.

It was clean

I wish I could upload photo’s. There was a stain, that looked like body fluids, on what appeared to be unchanged already slept on filthy sheets. The shampoo was already open and partially used. The driver was unable to open the door to the back of the shuttle were the luggage was located. The driver asked my husband to lift bags over the plastic cage.

Comforter dirty pillows are dirty too.

room was very clean and comfortable. all the staff were kind to me it's a little out dated and needs a little landscaping but the room was surprisingly modern and very nice and clean comfy bed!!

Not the worst. This is actually a Holiday Inn that is quite run down but has the basics. Room cleanliness was 6/10.

Room was not clean there was uriine around toilet and dark long hair in tub ( I’m a blonde). Shuttle was good. Whole place was very dated and needed help.

The Airport Shuttle was on time, which was amazing! It is about 15-20 minutes away. The hotel needs some TLC but is isn't falling apart. The carpet has stain everywhere, the bathroom needs remodeling but the bathroom and room was clean. The sheets were clean. The fan for the heater was making so much noise that I turned it off completely and it was already 70 in the room, so I wasn't going to freeze. The staff was very nice. This hotel was bought back as is but they are doing everything to keep it clean. The breakfast was poor, but it was so much better than nothing at all.....they had bananas, apples, commercial muffins and drip coffee. They have a shuttle every hour going to the airport and back. What matters to me is to sleep good, get cleaned up and I am happy. I had a black friday deal for $66, so I was fine.

Hot water wasn’t working for one night. Room was fine though there was a lingering smoke smell upon initial arrival. Otherwise you do get what you pay for.

It was great, check in was quick and easy, the elevator was a little intimidating so I defaulted to the stairs. I’ve stayed in this hotel twice now but it’s very comfortable just unrenovated so don’t expect it to be luxurious but the water stays hot, the room was clean enough, the bed was comfy, and the AC worked that’s all I need on a business trip where the only thing I’m doing in the room is primarily sleeping anyways.

Power was out and couldn’t check in. Fighting like hell to get my money back MONTHS later. Slept in my car and still have to pay. Worst service.

No hot water, and they gave me the wrong room key. No one answers the phone. They advertise a shuttle, but it only runs if you request it and even then, it never showed up. I saw two different couples give up and call an Uber after waiting. I asked for two towels, and they told me they could only give me one. Stay anywhere else. You get what you pay for. There is a nice dive in bar next to it.

I always try to find the positive in every experience, but unfortunately, my stay at this hotel was disappointing. To start with a positive the shuttle service, although just a van, was very clean and the drivers were kind and professional. However, the hotel is advertised as "Grand Royal," yet still displays signage and branding from Holiday Inn, which was confusing. The lobby initially appeared nice, but as we walked toward the rooms, the decor shifted dramatically to a dated 1970s look with yellow wallpaper and an overall tired atmosphere. The room itself was a decent size, but what truly impacted our stay was the lack of housekeeping. We stayed for four days, and despite requesting daily at the front desk for our room to be cleaned, trash removed, and fresh towels provided, nothing was ever done. Each time, staff assured us it was noted and would be taken care of—but it never was. Another frustrating issue was the difficulty reaching the front desk by phone. I called multiple times while trying to locate the shuttle at the airport and couldn't get anyone to answer. Overall, this stay was more stressful than restful. While I appreciate the small positives, I would not recommend this hotel based on my experience

Front desk never answered the phone for the airport shuttle. Ended up having to purchase an uber, an expense I was trying to avoid and literally the ONLY reason I booked this hotel. ALSO upon check in I was given a room that wasn’t made up, towels and trash everywhere, towels all over.

This property had a power outage during the time I wqs checking-in. They told me to write my phone number and name down so they could process a refund in the morning (mind tou this was around 1am). They have refused to issue me a refund citing I need to contact Expedia for the refund. I have contacted Expedia MULTIPLE times and they email me stating the Hotel does not answer their phone so Expedia cant confirm the hotel was without Power and I was turned away and not allowed to check-in for my stay. Expedia has failed to refund my over $100 bill for this hotel that I was turned away from at 1am due to the hotel having no power. Odd that when I call, the Hotel answers and tells me to call Expedia but they dont answer the phone when Expedia has me on hold attempting to confirm with the resort they refused to check me in for this stay!

On arrival the member of staff who would not get off her cell phone could not find my reservation. Then when she did, she tried to tell me i had a double room booked. I said no i have a king suite. After a few minutes she confirmed that. Gave me the room cards and i went to see the room. I looked in an it was a box room with a king bed inside. Nothing like i had paid for or reserved.i went back to reception where the girl continued to use her phone on a call and then she gave me another room. I went to see that, walked all the way up there and the keys wouldn't work. I walked all the way downstairs again, told this rude girl the keys were not working and she re did them.. Again, she still would not get off her cell. I went back to the room and i was appalled by the room. There were wires coming out from the AC unit. The room looked and smelled dirty, musty. I went into the bathroom and i was greeted by the ceiling peeling off with mold and what appered to be a flood causing it from the room above. The toilet was broken and more wires coming out from the wall. I went back downstairs and i told the girl i would not be staying in that. She told me we would get a refund for the booking. Good as this place is a zham, a pit of dirt. The so called pool area is closed for maintenance, looks like it has been for years. Broken windows, Amazon boxes everywhere and Christmas stuff being stored. How plp say this place is nice is beyond my comprehension.

The name of the hotel was Grand Royal Hotel O'Hare by Expedia but it was Holiday inn there and also in gps. So we were confused. Water was dripping in the bath and we couldn't stop it. It needs to be repaired. Bed was nice. If you need to be close to the airport, this hotel is great.

I couldn’t confirm my reservation with the hotel directly prior to checking in- it took several phone calls to Expedia to finalize my reservation and located the hotel address/ name on google map… felt uncertainty about what’s happening with the booking and reputation of this hotel! After arriving, I realized that the hotel is still undergoing renovations and name conversion from Holiday Inn to Grand Royal Hotel… this place provides basic, minimal services for a quick visit/ overnight stay- if you’re not picky and watch your budget… there’s nothing around the area for dinning or exploring within a few miles

It was pretty quiet and I felt safe every moment. Didn’t like an issue I had with my booking because the staff. But overall everything is good and they fixed the problem real quick.

This is an abandoned holiday inn and the signage is still up. They have a pool but it's empty. Not a house keeper/maid insight. No breakfast. Nothing around the hotel but a gas station. The only positive about this hotel is the water was hot for your shower. Complete false advertisement. You're better off at a motel 6.
