Marbrisa Carlsbad Resort

What guests think

At MarBrisa Carlsbad Resort, travelers highlight its family-friendly vibe with spacious condo-style rooms, attractive pools and grounds, and a convenient private walkway to LEGOLAND, making it a popular base for theme-park visits and relaxed resort time.

Many describe the property as clean, though several report lapses such as missed housekeeping, leftover trash, or cobwebs; housekeeping is not daily for shorter stays. Staff are often friendly and helpful, but recurring complaints cite slow or confusing check-in, inconsistent communication about the LEGOLAND pass, unhelpfulness with third-party bookings, and occasional billing or key issues. Facilities suit families, yet paid self-parking and limited on-site dining are common gripes, and the sprawling multi-building layout—with some stairs or elevator outages—can make access and luggage handling inconvenient. Best for families seeking a resort base for theme-park days.

The room was beautiful and clean. The resort is great for a long weekend or extended stay but, not for one or two nights. The lobby was very far from our room and there is no elevator to the third floor.

Liked everything, loved it for being a quiet place to stay. Resort level amenities, gorgeous pools and grounds. Location worked perfectly to explore attractions around. Still puzzled why there were no bathroom fans installed, maybe just the unit we stayed in, but other than that great stay.

Great for families visiting legoland cause there is a direct path allowing entrance from the back of legoland. I would only like daily housekeeping visits. I was told housekeeping only visits for people staying 5 nights or longer. Other than that, great.

Our stay didn't start off well when we found dirty towels and trash in the bedside table drawer and used tissues under the cushions in the sofa bed. Thexstaff took care of it but it made me question how clean the room really was. Also, we were woken up before 8:30 am on checkout day. Checkout time is 10 am so please let guests enjoy the full stay that they paid for.

This trip was a bit of a letdown. We have stayed at this property each year for the past four years. During our most recent trip on November 25, 2023. We were placed in Villa 80, away from the main hotel and pool community areas. We had to walk back-and-forth to the main lobby to handle check in and check out, and there were no restaurants or eating options on our side of the property. We are also placed by several families with very small children and newborn babies in the home. We called and stated to the staff that we were awoken on Saturday morning at 5 AM and also Sunday morning at 5 AM by children running around crying and the hotel didn’t do anything to assist us. We will look into other adult friendly options moving forward.

Wonderful stay. The 1 bedroom was bigger than I expected and I did appreciate having a full kitchen (as I was able to prepare a dinner for my family there). I followed advice on other's reviews in bringing an extra set of sheets for the pullout sofa bed. The area was very nice and quiet and the location is very convenient to Legoland. Although the rain storm did put a damper in our plans, the stay was amazing.

Got a handicap accessible room as we were told the resort was fully booked. We were also told by front desk staff that because our reservation was through expedia that there was nothing they could do for us. Smelly rug, smelly pillow, dim lighting in bathroom and kitchen. Wiped the kitchen floor and the towel was brown. Proximity to legoland was nice but staff did not tell us we would need to get a pass from resort to be allowed into legoland. Not only us but several families got in line for legoland that morning only to be turned back because we don't have the pass and forcing several families to go back to fromt desk to get the pass.

The reason for my review was this place calls itself a luxury where its not really luxury. Not because you have confusing to operate coffee maker, fridge & sink, you can call it luxury. According to this person Katie, the person who supposedly assisting us, which she didn’t, it said that to all rooms - luxury studio room. This Katie person didn’t even tell us the secret passage to Legoland, didn’t give us the armband to the Cove pool. She even put us to the farthest part of the property because she said we book our room to Expedia. I felt very insulted. She implied if I want a nicest part of the property I need it to book straight to their website or be part of credit card reward members BECAUSE their property is a TIMESHARE property. Also, one last thing, the queen size bed, not really queen size, I have queen size bed & that bed was small for queen size. And the decorations for a “luxury” is not really there, I stayed to luxury hotels & that place is not even close.

The check in process was truly crazy as it was around 200-230, ling check in line, room not ready and the visa machine was not working, do they wanted me to write out my visa number on a paper to be stored. Had to b FB one back and wait again in a long line (1/2) to pick up room keys. The room was like a new apartment, housekeeping left the towels in the middle of the floor in a plastic bag and did not even take the trash. They took the tip however. They texted st 630 am saying the internet was out, i asked them not to text at 630, they apologized as then then proceeded to text again. I cheCked out

The prooerty is nice, the main appeal is the pool area. It has a lot of seating and activitues. But it's not where you go if you' re looking for a view, or great service. There were bags of garbage sitting on the ground next to trash bins and it was still there when I left. No room service and food options force you to leave the property, or rely on DoorDash/Uber Eats. The Front Desk Staff was sloppy - they charged me the full cost of my suite, instead of just a $100 hold for incidentals, although I had prepaid the stay. They were supposed to email the folio (since I opted for express checkout), but never sent it. When I contacted them to address being overcharged for the room, the Front Desk Agent had an attitude, and then had the audacity to suggest that I call again the next day (over the holiday), to follow-up on their error!!!! No efdort to take ownership of the error, or offer real customer service, given how badly they messed up. Very disappointed overall. Spend your money somewhere that they respect their clientele.

The campus is nice enough but if you don\'t have a car you are literally stranded at the hotel. It is a huge facility divided up into clusters of buildings removed from each other. There is a very limited shuttle service (I had to wait 40 minutes for mine) and they only run from 9-12 and 4-9. You have very limited dining options and there is no room service. I asked at check in what my options were and he told me "You can try Door Dash but they will never find your room" The poolside menu is very limited and the heaters weren\'t working. The check in process took a long time since they have to explain all the procedures to you and you are given 3 maps, some sort of discount card to the only three places to eat on the site and wait for the shuttle to the room. It is overwhelming to the guest and all it really offers is close access to Lego Land which I had no interest in anyway. The service is good but no way would I stay there again.
