Barcelo Huatulco was great! Beautiful beach, sunny and hot every day. The staff were always friendly, smiling, and happy to help. Lots of great activities from the entertainment staff! Food was ok - lots of options at the buffets, some things were great and others bland (especially desserts). Appreciated the salad bar, fresh cut fruit, fresh omelettes, and guacamole every day. The Italian restaurant was great - fantastic live piano, great service, and good food. Gym, pickleball, and basketball courts were great. Things I would improve: reduce the heavy banging music at the pool area, add a no-music deeper pool (perhaps in the grass area near the children’s play centre?), reduce the amount of boat ride offers from the guys in the beach (maybe instead of soliciting they could have a sign with posted prices - sometimes we were asked over 5 times per day - always friendly, but still), add signs at the hot bars for what you can order there (in both Spanish & English), improve the flavours at the buffets (go for quality not quantity!). Overall we had a great time and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend it to others!

Property in general good, 2-3 different common restaurants, good beach, very good service, nice rooms with comfy beds, my only two concern were, drinks with very limited alcohol variety except if you pay more for premium options and second the swimming pools, they know that they had a problems because there are several people cleaning the pool all-day, but at the end all swimming clothes turned green/yellow. Finally good check in and checkout service, just be prepare to present ID for all family members include kids.

Very nice building and layout, excellent staff and service. Food was okay, not great. The pools looked great but the constant loud noise kept us away. Non-stop music and people yelling into microphones for activities that often had only 2 or 3 participants. We spent little time on our balcony in the evening as the loud thump, thump of electronic dance music coming from the pool area wasn't conducive to having a relaxing time.The beach was great and we spent most of our time there. Not many loungers and the shade covers were in pretty rough shape but at least it was away from the noise at the pools.

Great location right by Tangolunda Bay, on the beachfront. Lots to see and do, included water activities (non-motorized) Nice medium sized resort with great access for everyone. Lots of ramps or elevators to all levels. Premium rooms were amazing with great ocean and pool views. The pools are all in the same area next to each other. One is a family pool with a kids waterpark section and slides etc. The other is a large adults pool and has a swim-up bar area. All pools were a great temperature and sparkling clean at all times. We had no complaints at all and would absolutely return here again. The food in the buffets was great but sometimes a little on the cool side for me, but always tasty. I like my food really hot but I realize that it's difficult to keep buffet food hot - cruise ships can do it though, so it disappoints me when it is on the cooler side in a hotel. The breakfast staff could be a bit more efficient in their attention to waiting customers. They chatted to each other whilst serving each customer individually, instead of asking the next customers in line, and multitasking their orders on the very large hotplate, which could have easily coped with several orders at one time. The 3 star hotel we go to in Puerto Vallarta does a better job at breakfast. Thoroughly recommend this hotel over all.

No complaints except on the day we were leaving both elevators were down. Other than that, excellent service, very clean, staff were great and food was great as well as drinks. My 5-year old had a blast in the mini water park which has multiple slides and shallow pool. I would highly recommend.

Wonderful holiday! Room was clean, spacious and loved the balcony. We enjoyed both buffets and the service was fast and efficient . Would love to see an outside shower to rinse before entering pool or ocean. 🙏. The staff was very approachable and towels bountiful. Thank you we will be back.

Buffet Experience The on site grill staff primarily cater to Spanish speaking guests, so if you don’t speak any Spanish, have a translation app on hand. We noticed they often took orders from Spanish speakers first and you sometimes have to politely assert yourself to be served. Compared to other Barceló properties we’ve visited, this resort’s breakfast spread felt repetitive. Fresh fruit options were limited and the same each morning, and there were no freshly squeezed juices. They offer oat and almond milk, but no soy milk, which may disappoint if you’re plant milk dependent. Cuisine Variety If you love authentic Mexican fare—as we do—you’ll appreciate the menu. However, international or non Mexican options are few, and the selection doesn’t change much from day to day. Dining Experience (A la Carte Grill) The a la carte Mexican grill is fantastic—authentic flavor, generous portions, and beautifully presented. We noticed the Japanese a la carte offered little beyond a token selection—if you love Japanese cuisine, you might want to skip it. There was no shuttle from the airport to the resort, but were able to rangle up a taxi. Check in was a bit slow, but luckily accurate on the 2 rooms we booked. Rooms were clean, spacios and tidy. But doors are too thin and hallway noise was loud during the night. Staff were beautiful and helpful, especially breakfast buffet staff working so hard and always friendly. Andrea and Luis breakfast staff were above and beyond! Weren't thrilled with the food, but found good restaurants in town. Drinks were great, staff was lovely. Great place for swimming in the beautiful, clean, warm water. Sorry, we i wouldn't recommend the food , (other than breakfast) but otherwise a beautiful experience. Thank you!!

The staff was great. The property was good. The big negative for us was the fact that we couldn’t control the temperature of our room. The thermostat was controlled by the hotel and the temperature was set at 75 degrees which was warm. Had a difficult time sleeping the first night couple of nights due to the warm temperature. I called the help desk and was told that due to hotel being part of the green initiative they could not make room cooler. They sent someone to the room but all he did was made the fan rotate a little faster which didn’t help.

This is a lovely resort and a beautiful location. The premium level was definitely worth it. Enjoyed the little catamaran tour of the bay and fish spa. Would have liked better communication about what eating places were open and when because of low occupancy. Room was a bit cold and we could not override for less ac.

Main buffet is small and limited for how many guests were at the hotel. Received no upgrade or preferred services for VIP gold status. Lovely staff with great service. Overall wouldn’t rate a 5 star, outdated and limited luxuries put this more like a 4*

The Barceló Huatulco is the perfect sized resort. Not too big; not too small. But what makes the place stand out are the people. Everyone is friendly and thoughtful but then there are so many who go that extra mile and take your holiday to the next level. Alvaro at the pool bar is amazing, Karla at la tortega is always a sweetheart, Francisco was everywhere ready to help you, Carlos and Miguel always took great care of us at breakfast and lunch & Victor did the same at Don Rosa for dinner. Again, there are so many great people who work here. We’ve been here three years in a row and are already planning our next trip. Would highly recommend to anyone

Barcelo Huatulco is a lovely clean and friendly resort, with fantastic staff. Seems like us retirees need a bit more shade options though, without resorting to hanging out in the lobby area. The only negative is the lack of amenities on checkout day. Once your tag is cut off and you have 3 hours to wait for an airport transfer, it would be nice if they allowed you to get some lunch. After all, on day 1, we only got there after 7pm so it seems reasonable to let us have something to eat before leaving for the airport. Great all inclusive.

Estaban llenos en su capacidad y no previeron que necesitarían más personal, por lo que desde que llegamos fue un caos. Filas para dejar equipaje, filas para hacer check in, filas para alimentos, demora en entrega de habitación. Mala actitud por parte de los botonea debido al alto flujo de gente… mi amiga llevaba muletas y su atención en general dejó mucho que desear.

You all upgraded me to a partial ocean view and I couldn’t be more happier. Your premises are well maintained and beautiful, your staff were very welcomed, attentive and friendly. Barcelo Huatulco was great! Beautiful beach, sunny and hot every day. The staff were always friendly, smiling, and happy to help. Lots of great activities from the entertainment staff! Food was ok - lots of options at the buffets, some things were great and others bland (especially desserts). Appreciated the salad bar, fresh cut fruit, fresh omelettes, and guacamole every day. The Italian restaurant was great - fantastic live piano, great service, and good food. Gym, pickleball, and basketball courts were great. Things I would improve: reduce the heavy banging music at the pool area, add a no-music deeper pool (perhaps in the grass area near the children’s play centre?), reduce the amount of boat ride offers from the guys in the beach (maybe instead of soliciting they could have a sign with posted prices - sometimes we were asked over 5 times per day - always friendly, but still), add signs at the hot bars for what you can order there (in both Spanish & English), improve the flavours at the buffets (go for quality not quantity!). Overall we had a great time and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend it to others!

The Barcelo is a lovely property located on an excellent beach in one of the in one of the friendliest areas of Mexico we have been to. The vibe of the resort is relaxing with music and activities but not a constant party which is what we were looking for. The food is fine and we really liked the Italian restaurant. There are also some great little restaurants/bars across the street if you want a change of scenery for dinner. We would definitely go back to the Barcelo and Huatulco.

Beach is terrible for walking. Food was fairly good but not hot enough which is a concern. The hotel requires a larger main buffet seating area. Our room had a wonderful ocean view ( thank you Expedia ).

Great location right by Tangolunda Bay, on the beachfront. Lots to see and do, included water activities (non-motorized) Nice medium sized resort with great access for everyone. Lots of ramps or elevators to all levels. Premium rooms were amazing with great ocean and pool views. The pools are all in the same area next to each other. One is a family pool with a kids waterpark section and slides etc. The other is a large adults pool and has a swim-up bar area. All pools were a great temperature and sparkling clean at all times. We had no complaints at all and would absolutely return here again. The food in the buffets was great but sometimes a little on the cool side for me, but always tasty. I like my food really hot but I realize that it's difficult to keep buffet food hot - cruise ships can do it though, so it disappoints me when it is on the cooler side in a hotel. The breakfast staff could be a bit more efficient in their attention to waiting customers. They chatted to each other whilst serving each customer individually, instead of asking the next customers in line, and multitasking their orders on the very large hotplate, which could have easily coped with several orders at one time. The 3 star hotel we go to in Puerto Vallarta does a better job at breakfast. Thoroughly recommend this hotel over all.

Room was clean, location is incredible — right on beautiful Tangolunda Bay. Food wasn't exceptional, but can't complain for a resort. They have to cater to a diverse clientele and always made an effort at every meal to do something special. Mexican night was particularly notable. Nice to be able to have breakfast and lunch at La Tortuga, an open-air restaurant with views of the ocean and a consistently pleasant sea breeze.

I recommend more attention to the bathroom by the pool, the sushi dinner as one of our a la carte choice was bad, and the buffets could have more variety and more “elegant”. It was the same and very simple for 5 days/ 4 nights of our stay. But staff all 5 stars and everything else was nice and we had fun.

The food its very poor quality, this resort has to change the menu, the food its not cooked properly, the fish its impossible ( dorada), the main restaurant cannot accommodate people's, long line. Overall food quality the biggest problem. Never comeback!

The hotel is decent, not many options for food, and the staff were very strict, we couldn’t listen to music at the adult pool area, they were very annoying, walked around like strict security. Drinks are watered down, none of them had alcohol unless you took a shot and even then it was mild! Wouldn’t return.

Room, staff, pool, beach were all excellent. Al a Cart restaurants also excellent. Buffet just ok. Buffet area is small and lacking in choices, but having said that we never walked away hungry. Would come again!

Our second time there. The staff are terrific. The food was disappointing. The Italian restaurant was a very big let down compared to our previous visit and the buffet was also sub par. The options provided were very limited and not appealing at all.

Buffet Experience The on site grill staff primarily cater to Spanish speaking guests, so if you don’t speak any Spanish, have a translation app on hand. We noticed they often took orders from Spanish speakers first and you sometimes have to politely assert yourself to be served. Compared to other Barceló properties we’ve visited, this resort’s breakfast spread felt repetitive. Fresh fruit options were limited and the same each morning, and there were no freshly squeezed juices. They offer oat and almond milk, but no soy milk, which may disappoint if you’re plant milk dependent. Cuisine Variety If you love authentic Mexican fare—as we do—you’ll appreciate the menu. However, international or non Mexican options are few, and the selection doesn’t change much from day to day. It's a great location, and we had a nice room. Having only 3 restaurants to eat in for a week is difficult. The food in the Tortuga pool house for lunch was at best, ok. At times the hot food was not hot at all. I can't eat a lot of uncooked food when traveling.

The room was clean and has a beautiful ocean view. The staff was amazing and the food was really good with an extensive variety of dishes for all tastes, this is a family friendly property but has an adult pool. The beach is beautiful and clean, you can even see fish if you walk a little bit. Over all my husband and I really enjoyed our stay and would love to come back with the family.
