What guests think

Across recent reviews, Tru By Hilton Martinsburg earns strong praise for very clean, modern spaces and genuinely friendly staff, with travellers also appreciating convenient access to dining and I-81 plus a lively lobby with games.

Guestrooms offer comfortable beds, walk-in showers, and no-carpet floors; several mention compact layouts, thin walls or pet noise, and missing in-room microwaves or coffee makers. Breakfast feedback is mixed, ranging from solid options and a fun pancake machine to limited flavor, weak coffee, and slow restocking. Facilities highlighted include a 24-hour gym and on-site EV charging, with one report of charger quality concerns. The room was very clean and the staff was very friendly and helpful. I stayed here because it’s pet friendly and we don’t travel without him, plus it’s less than 10 minutes from my sons house.

Very clean hotel with great staff. The pet friendly policy was over the top. I have stayed at other pet friendly hotels and I like dogs but this place is ridiculous. There were 2 pitbulls in the lobby for about an hour licking the snacks on the bottom shelf. Then there was a little white dog sitting at one of the dining room tables on a pillow so he could reach the table. While trying to get our breakfast, we had to try to avoid stepping on the dog because the owner had it on a long leash while she got her own food. It seems that there are no rules for pet owners because this was all done in front of staff. I will never use Tru again.

Nice staff and new facility. Would give 4.5 stars if could. Didn't have pool but had washer/dryer. Floor in shower was slippery, even for my 27 yo niece. Good breakfast with scrambled eggs, sausage cereal, and even make-your-own pancakes. Good variety of food, not mentioned. Tables needed cleaning though. Got nice welcome bag but only after I asked where was the bottled water as leaving.

Changing rooms is a hassle and I would recommend that staff check that rooms are operating as expected before guests arrive. Also, the EV stations are poor quality and could be upgraded. We were happy with the staff and their willingness to assist us.

Stay itself was fine. You can tell its a new construction because the walls are so paper thin you can hear everything. Conversations on the floor below us as well as the tvs in the rooms on either said were easily heard and hard to ignore. No microwave or coffee in the room. Blankets were rough feeling. Also no drawers at all.

I stayed here for two days while in town for work. The room was clean but quite small and didn’t have a closet. There was also a strong smell when I arrived — maybe from a room freshener — which was a bit much. There were dogs barking in nearby rooms, and since I didn’t have a pet, it made resting difficult. Check-in was smooth and the staff seemed friendly. I’ve stayed at other Hilton locations and never had this issue, so it was a bit disappointing overall. I didn’t use the other amenities, so I can’t comment on those.

Tru was a low-frills stay, but perfect for work travel--amenities available overnight if you're coming in late, close proximity (same complex) to major shopping and restaurants, and a _very_ friendly, helpful, and accommodating staff. I arrived unexpectedly early, and they worked hard to get me installed in a room, even though they were under no obligation to do so. High recommend.

The staff was really friendly and the hotel and my room were clean. However, it was in a weird location, behind a Walmart. I looked out my window and saw trash bins, cardboard, and all of the nasty stuff that gets thrown out back at a Walmart. I was also surprised at how tiny the room and bathroom was. It kind of had a weird vibe because every other Guest I saw was, for lack of a better term, ghetto. Really loud and sloppy with kids screaming and running around. Again, it was clean and the staff could not have been better, but, it just didn’t seem like a relaxing atmosphere. I hate to say anything negative because the staff was so amazing. I went there because of their high rating, but, next time I’ll just stay at the Fairfield Marriott down the street.
