Flooring/Carpet was soft to the feet. The pillows wete wonderful - even extra pillows without asking. Fireplace worked great. Very hot water - which was very appreciated on a rainy day. These older motels on Munras are often a bit funky, but location is on a bus line if you don't want to hike back uphill from the beach area. You will hear the occasional sirens as the street is a fairly busy one. No elevator to second floor, but the room was a great place to relax and get a good night's sleep!

The room needed updating. The walls had paint missing in some areas. The staff were pleasant and helpful. Our room was upstairs and no lift! The price didn’t match the quality of the accommodation. We checked out after one night and found another hotel for the same price in Monterey.

Just perfect! We had a late check in but service was still marvelous and we felt very welcomed and was very well taken care of by super nice Andy! We got a great room with a working fireplace, big bathtub, comfy big bed and nice pillows! We brought our dog and it is definitely dog friendly (a small fee but it was worth every dollar) Easy to park and at no charge. Will definitely be back many more times! Thanks for a great stay!

rooms were okay, a little outdated. you got two small bottles of water and snacks which was cute. the a/c for some reason was located in the bathroom and didn’t really work. they had an old school fan in the room so that means they acknowledge that the ac doesn’t work well lol. parking is tight but otherwise ok.

This place is definitely family owned! I'm not sure if the older gentleman was the owner or manager but he had his granddaughter waiting for a video call from overseas ❤️ it was so sweet! They have doggie biscuits for your vacationing furry family members. There is also the sweetest cutest little dog there sometimes! The lobby smells lovely, like incense and roses. The room was on the smaller side but you absolutely cannot beat it for the price and the location. It has a nice little wall heater that kept us toasty and we had no issues with the TV reception or the WiFi.Very very clean with attentive housekeeping! It's right across the street from Del Monte Center, and DMC is basically THE mall for the Monterey Peninsula. Be prepared for a little noise, this is right next to the biggest shopping center in the area and it's an older property so the walls are thinner. But it's entirely worth it. We will definitely be staying here again!

Andy was very friendly at the front desk upon check in, check in was fast and easy. The room and bathroom was very clean and well maintained. This hotel is taken care of a lot more than some of the others around the hotels. I will definitely be looking forward to staying here again!

Did not stay. Left after checking in. Room was filthy and smelly. Pet hair and stains on bedding. Black dirty walls. Smelled like pet feces and urine. Do not go here. Looks NOTHING like their photos!!!

Friendly Staff, Very Clean inside and out and Great Location. Only disappointments were the firm mattress, cheap shower head and the door not having a deadbolt. We were not comfortable leaving valuables in the room while we were gone. Once inside, the door did have a security latch.

Check was very easy, and the clerk was friendly and helpful. We got in our room and was very surprised how clean it was and everything that was available, like bottled water and tea, coffee. We were there for one night and was close to the places that we wanted to go to. Great price! I would stay there again.

That's a good place for a value with convenient location, clean rooms and all needed basic amenities. Friendly stuff and pretty quiet outside. The only thing to keep in mind is that place is relatively old and has a poor noise isolation. You're going to hear almost everything what is going on in your neighbor rooms like TV, loud conversations and how people move in their rooms. Just be ready for that.

This is my second stay at Monterey Pines. I rebooked at Monterey Pines because my first experience was great. My second experience was good. Very clean room. I felt safe there and I stayed for three nights. The only drawback was the room next to mine had an endless stream of people coming in and out, laughing,partying, and extremely loud for the late time of night. This was on my second night of stay.

It was a very neat and quiet hotel, stayed there for 2 nights with my significant other. No complaints, very clean and spacious. The only thing I'd like to point out is that we went during the week of Thanksgiving, and the nights were cold. The heater was working but it was rather weak - had to keep on the whole night to stay warm. Other than that, a very comfortable stay. Close to Monterey downtown and Carmel, which is very convenient. And it's right next to a shopping center!

This is the cutest older motel around. I called and told them we would be in late, so they arranged for our key to be in a lockbox. The room is cute, I love love love the fireplace, it is gas, so no smoke smell. It is very quiet and the staff was super friendly. We will definitely stay here again.

Check was very easy, and the clerk was friendly and helpful. We got in our room and was very surprised how clean it was and everything that was available, like bottled water and tea, coffee. I think everything was excellent except the a/c and heater need to be updated. Some remodeling of the room with new carpet or flooring would be nice also. The room and bathroom was very clean and the bed was very comfortable. The man working there, Andy, was very friendly and accommodating.

We loved the Monterey Pines Inn. The location is great, as it's close and convenient both to tourist sites and the highway. Our room was clean, comfortable, and the fireplace was great! Property is about 10 minutes away from the wharf and museum, pretty easy drive. Check-in was quick. Rooms are a little older, but very clean and well taken care of. I plan to stay again next time we’re in town.
