Hotel has a very handy location. Grounds are beautiful. Pool was being renovated. Room was nice but all service was terrible. After two days we asked for clean linens but none arrived . We had to ask again and the front desk guy finally brought them in at night. After three days, we asked for our room to be cleaned but nothing happened. It felt like once you checked in, you were on your own.

WiFi and cell reception were extremely spotty. Had a hard time connecting to WiFi and would get booted off continually. Beds were pretty hard and not very comfortable. Location was good and ease of check in was good. Parking was easy.

My husband and I recently stayed at Mariposa Inn & Suites along with our family. We all reserved separate rooms over three months ago. We reserved the Standard Room, 1 King Bed, ACCESSIBLE, Fireplace. When we arrived two weeks ago, they only could offer us an Executive Suite, 1 King Bed, Fireplace. Due to health issues, I require grab bars near the toilet and shower. When we checked in, we were given our room keys and sent on our way only to discover in the room that it was not ADA compliant. We called the front desk and requested to be moved but the staff person told us they did not have any ADA rooms available and upgraded us to the Executive Suite to compensate for our inconvenience. This is a classic “bait & switch” tactic by the front desk staff. Of course, we didn’t want to leave the property because our family was staying here, so I opted to suffer it out and face the struggle. I just want to know what’s the point of reservations if we’re not going to receive what we reserved? Mariposa Inn & Suites staff did not honor our Accessible King room reservation, which was very disappointing and created a hardship for me. Frankly, they had three months to work it out! Aside from our main complaint, if you are looking forward to a breakfast that consists mainly of carbohydrates (i.e. toast, oatmeal, cereal packs, bagels, muffins) then you’ll be good to go. However, for those who are dairy free and/or gluten free, this breakfast will disappoint.

Our experience at Mariposa Inn and Suites was extremely disappointing. We chose the hotel among the many options in Monterey because of its pool, hot tub, and advertised continental breakfast. Unfortunately it was these very aspects that made us strongly regret choosing it. The continental breakfast is a “light breakfast” which includes instant oatmeal and cereal packs, muffins, bagels, toast, coffee, tea, juice, milk and sometimes bananas, less than what is advertised. For anyone looking for solid protein, sugar free, dairy free, or gluten free options, look elsewhere. Secondly, the pool…this was our biggest disappointment. We enjoyed the pool one afternoon, until our daughter started complaining of itchy skin on her chest. We all were affected, and when my husband shown his phone flashlight on our skin, we were covered in fiberglass. The pool we discovered was made of fiberglass and it was shedding into the water! The staff and manager did not believe us until my husband got the manager at the pool and showed evidence. They offered us a refund for one night but did not close the pool. They said they would, but they did not. My husband spent probably three hours trying to get them to believe us before they validated what was visible on our swimsuits and skin. He was able to talk to the pool maintenance man before we left, who validated that it was a known problem already. We left convinced that the manager has been aware and instead turns a blind eye to save a dime.
