What guests think

At Houston Marriott South at Hobby Airport, travelers highlight clean, comfortable rooms, friendly staff, and a convenient airport location with shuttle service, while noting an attractive lobby and useful amenities like a gym, indoor pool, and on‑site restaurant.

However, recurring complaints center on HVAC not cooling or heating properly and noise from the open atrium or nearby freeway affecting some rooms. Cleanliness is usually praised, but several reviews report stained linens, lingering smoke or odors, and occasional pests. Facilities are useful yet inconsistent—the indoor pool is often cold or closed, some elevators or ice machines fail, parking strains during events—and on‑site dining is good but usually not included and can feel pricey with limited late‑night options. Overall, expect a convenient, amenity‑rich airport stay with occasional noise and upkeep variability.

Thermostat didn’t work in room, all the ice machines were down. Microwave was outside of room down the hall which was a inconvenience. The pool was dirty and full of bugs. Elevator broke while under operation. Thanks to the guy at front desk for replacing thermostat while off the clock.

The lobby was nice. The bartender was absolutely amazing!! The pool area was clean, could've been slightly warmer but that did not take much away from the experience. My only complaint was the furniture in the room. My coffee table was scratched to the point that it should've been replaced and we could have gone without it and not noticed. One parking lot was closed which annoying. Other than that it was a great stay. Beds were comfy and rooms were clean.

Beautiful, grand and inviting interior. The room was comfortable, spacious and modern. The bed was comfortable. You could hear the neighbor's TV through the connecting doors, but they did not stay up late. Although, room was booked for three, we needed to ask for a third glass, towel and bedding, but they quickly brought what we needed. The indoor pool is not heated, so was cold when we visited. Weight room looked nice. Overall a great pick for our family.

I recently stayed here and unfortunately had a disappointing experience. The room was dusty, the sheets had stains, and the bathroom was not properly cleaned. There was also a strong and unpleasant odor throughout the hotel. The noise from other guests and the street kept me awake all night. The neighborhood did not feel safe, and I noticed a lack of adequate security measures. I believe the hotel could significantly improve guest satisfaction by investing in a thorough deep cleaning, improving soundproofing, and enhancing security measures.

I live in Nort Houston and had a flight out of Hobby early and thought it would be good staying close to airport. After i checken end around 11:30 pm, there was so much noise with people at thete common area well after what a hotel like yours should allow. I and i bet i was mot the only guest that could not fall asleep. I finally called the front desk at 2:30 am to get the noise recognized by front desk. They took care of it but it should of not come to this. Last time i would stay here.

One of the best hotels I’ve ever stayed at, it’s just the room I had was extremely hot and I told the receptionist and she sent the maintenance man to my room very quick, he said he fixed it but it was even hotter. The next day I told her again and she changed my room. Overall it was very neat, very quiet, very classy and very understanding.

Super friendly and accommodating staff. Concerned about my satisfaction and my check in experience. Although the area around the hotel has industrial aspects and is dark, the security guard that met me at the front entrance was kind, polite, and he made me feel welcome and safe. The parking area is fenced which also provided a sense of security. Rooms are clean and modern. Would definitely stay here again!

When I first got to the Hotel, the first front staff, who was not helpful could not find my confirmation or Expedia Reservation in their system. I was told to call Expedia, but could not get a live help. This was frustrating. 45 minutes later, a second staff was still not able to find my reservation, however she was helpful and got a manager to assist me. The whole ordeal took over 1 hr to check in.

I was coming in from out of town. Arrived for late check in. Receptionist was very rude. Said I was lucky to get a room. It was a prepaid room! Security then when on to tell me that I parked wrong way on the hotel porch. Security scolded me for that and told me to move my vehicle and have it face the other way! There was absolutely no cars at 2am!. Very rude service.

We ask 3 times when we all checked in about the shuttle told them that we had nine people going to the airport at 5 AM. They insist we would definitely be taking care of that. We could return our rental vehicles that they had two vans operating 24 seven. when the time came at 5 AM, the shuttle driver told us it was not enough room for all nine of us. They had to take the pilot and the air crew first before anyone else could get in the van Didn’t matter if we were waiting there first We went back in and asked about the other van. They told us the other driver was not there. He was late. He came in as we were standing there, and then they told us the van was broken down. As it was sitting outside this was crazy customer service and then they charged us for parking we didn’t even have the vehicle

We ordered room service and it took two hours to get it. The reason we were told is that they had no one to bring it up. I paid over $300 for 1 night. I reserved a club room thinking it would be a better room. There was a comic event there making the entire experience not great. Short staff. Restaurant was misleading. Said it was an American cuisine steakhouse. Our food options were frito pie, burger, pretzels. In the morning we got down stairs for shuttle at 8:25 couldn’t speak to staff for shuttle service till 8:30 . At that point we were advised we just missed service that they shuttle every 30 minutes. As I see the shuttle drive off. They should have advised all this at check in. This was not worth what we spent. Also I pre checked in via Marriott site. Check in is supposed to be at 3. Why did I get a notification after 8pm notifiing me that my room was ready.
