What guests think

At Hilton University of Houston, travelers praise the on-campus convenience for UH events, generally friendly service, and clean, comfortable rooms, while noting drawbacks like confusing access during campus construction, paid parking, and limited or unavailable pool facilities.

Reviews often commend the breakfast and overall dining convenience, but several report inconsistent food quality and slow or subpar service at Eric’s. A minority mention maintenance and comfort issues such as intermittent hot water, weak or fluctuating shower pressure, elevator downtime, or rooms running warm. Best suited for visitors with business at UH who value convenience over full resort amenities.

I had business on campus, and the Hilton was a nice choice. One feature of the hotel was the gym. It was very nice and view new. The downside was the food options. The hotel restaurant was OK, and that was the only place close.

We luckily booked our trip the week that the campus was on spring break, so our stay was so quiet and comfortable. The area was easy to navigate and beautiful. Our room was clean as well as the hotel. The pool and the gym are in the student center so they were closed to us. Wasn’t really an issue due to the colder weather but something to consider is traveling with children. There was only 2 downfalls. 1) The shower wasn’t designed well so it poured onto the floor unless the shower head was mostly pointed at the wall. First time I showered I didn’t notice until I stepped out into a giant puddle. 2) The only working ice machine was on the 7th floor but had very noticeable mold on it.

The whole staff is amazing and very accommodating! The hotel lobby is spectacular and welcoming! The rooms were immaculate and the beds were so comfortable. The gym is open 24 hrs. and it’s perfect for a workout any time. The restaurant onsite is an excellent place to grab a quick bite or enjoy a meal with friends and family. The restaurant also has a bar. It’s a family friendly and business friendly hotel! Will continue staying here to visit my daughter at UH.

This hotel will be rated even higher once UH completes this massive construction project (in 2027) - the front entrance is completely blocked, and it’s confusing to know where to be dropped off due to detours and one-way streets. However, once you enter the hotel, it’s quite nice here, and the front desk staff is excellent.

We LOVE this Hilton. But in our bathroom, one of the amenities boxes (that was supposed to have q-tips, etc. in it) was just an empty box and the mothwash was already opened. The seal was broken. Made us nervous to use it and it just looked full so it was put right back on the sink. Also, elevators were super slow when we got there, and then eventually were out of service the whole time we were there. Only the far one past the help desk was working. Bartender was great as always and front staff is always really nice.

Check in was great the gentleman was very helpful and friendly, the 2 young ladies in the evening were rude and very unprofessional. When questions were asked they seemed so bothered and responded with attitude. We had an issue with inserting parking ticket on machine had to get another ticket, when I went to service desk my husband was treated by attitude and as soon as he walked away the unnecessary comments under their breathe happened. My daughter had an event at school that lasted longer than expected and we asked for courtesy late check out but immediately was told NO and hotel had plenry of empty rooms we checked online, I’m sad to think my daughter is going to school at UofH and I would have to be welcomed by that kind of behavior and service all the time.

Hotel service was great. Cleaned rooms daily which is rare nowadays. Bathroom location little weird, opens straight toward foot of bed. Hotel is ON the University of Houston campus that uses some students for different areas of work, teaching hands-on learning which is cool for them. If u have business on campus, perfect spot. Area around the campus, pretty sketchy and not advised to walk around there at night.

This is a lively hotel. Being in the University of Houston Campus, it feels very secure and safe. The property is extremely clean and all of the staff are too notch in the service they provide. I had a wonderfully peaceful time during my stay. I could not connect my laptop to the TV in the room, however the TV comes with services like Netflix and YouTube and others a customer may connect to. So I was satisfied with funding entertainment any time I was in the room.

We've stayed here a number of times and have always been happy; this time was not the same. We tried to check in at 4:30 and were told the room wasn't ready even though it was past check-in time. We ended up having to wait in the car until 5. They offered to waive parking, but then when we go the receipt, we found they had waived it and then re-added it. We had dinner at the restaurant, and it wasn't very good at all. My rare steak came out well done, and food quality wasn't anywhere near what it was in the past. Then the fire alarm went off and we had to evacuate while fire department investigated. Finally, water pressure in the shower was awful, it would get very strong, then very weak and alternate ever 3-5 seconds the entire time, like the pump couldn't keep up. The shower didn't drain well either, so you were standing in an inch or more of water waiting for the pressure to come back enough to wash your hair. I think we'll likely look for something else next time.

The fact that I can stay at my alma mater and see a basketball game between Oak State and UH. I was disappointed with the morning manager and his poor attitude and unresponsiveness to my needs as a full paying customer. I never had a desk manager question my need for a cup of coffee at 5:30 am in the morning. I simply asked the question wondering why there was no place to get a cup of coffee anywhere. I was left standing there like something was wrong with me and why was I awake. Oh well, the hotel was nice but I would have had better service at a low end hotel somewhere else. I was only asking for a cup of coffee.
