MainStay Suites Fargo - I-94 Medical Center

If I spend $150 a night to stay at a property,, I expect at least a basic breakfast..bagels, toast, cold cereal. That is what I’d get at a $60 a night place. Run down..not quite “pay by the hour”place..but very close. Positives: clean room with a full fridge and sink. Somewhat quiet…although the walls are pretty thin and it’s easy to hear other peoples “stuff”.

It was eh. Could smell weed in hallway. I thought hotel was smoke free. You can tell from years of poor cleaning it’s really taking its toll on rooms.

Overall experience was satisfactory but solely based on front desk understanding and accommodations. We arrived shortly after check-in time to quickly put our things in the room and leave for a NDSU Bison game. We didnt take time to look around but had we, we probably wouldn't have returned. We got back late and decided to take a look around, the place wasn't overly clean but didn't look bad enough to be totally disgusted, until exploring further. The hot tub in the pool room was drained with no signage indicating a nonworking hot tub, which is one thing we were looking forward to. We then just wanted to go to our room to get ready for bed. Unfolding the blankets, there were multiple hairs, dirty sheets and smears all over the headboard. I went to sit on the couch, at the same time my husband went to shower. We both hollered out to eachother with gross findings. I moved the ottoman at the couch and there was a dirty pair of men's underwear under it; my husband found a tub coated with dust, hair and fuzz, and not just a little. It was A LOT! He went to wash it out and it was like the drain was clogged. Needless to say, after taking photos we went down to talk with the front desk. They were very pleasant and understood our concerns. Without hesitation we were offered a refund. The unfortunate thing was now finding other accommodations at around 11 o'clock at night. Due to the cleanliness of the facility, I would not recommend this to anyone.

We did check in about 2:30 but was told room was available. There was food in fridge and there were spills. They removed the food when asked.Found sock and hair clip under bed. Used Q-tip under heater. Did not look like floor was vacuumed. Toilet very low to ground and toilet paper in awkward position that you would need to be rubber man to reach.Very disappointing. On plus side bed was very comfortable.

Bad smells in the elevator, hallway and suite. Many stains in the hallway carpet. Bad lighting in the suite bathroom. Empty Kleenex box on first arrival. Shampoo shower cradle busted. All appliances had many dents on the front panels. The fridge did work but the fridge’s refrigeration system made knocking noises throughout the night. There wasn’t a complete set of utensils in the kitchen drawer. There were no cups, plastic or otherwise available in the suite. Insufficient shower head pressure. The beds were ok but squeaky worn. Although, and despite all this, there were sufficient towels, the sheets and pillow cases smelled cleaned. Lol There are better hotels in the Fargo area to “stay” at and at/around the same price.
