What guests think

Budget Host Inn Iron Mountain is an older, no-frills motel offering low rates, consistently praised for friendly, accommodating owners and a convenient location for short stopovers near town, especially for travelers passing through the area.

Cleanliness feedback is mostly positive, though some guests reported stained bathrooms or carpets, mildew or musty smells, and, in a few cases, pests. Room comfort and upkeep are variable, with firm mattresses common, thin walls or late-night noise at times, and occasional problems with heating, air-conditioning, or shower controls. Amenities are basic; some rooms include a microwave and fridge, parking is ample but winter plowing was criticized, and on-site options are minimal, with morning coffee available. Overall, expect a simple budget stop best for a night or two.

The parking areas were not plowed. You couldn't tell where the sidewalk started and the parking lot ended very unsafe.

I stayed here twice within the past month: once with my son, and a few weeks later with my family. Nice clean place; great staff; excellent if you're on a budget and need a place to sleep. More than enough parking, and it's in a well lit area. Considering the prices of neighboring hotels and motels in the area, I'd recommend it. We'll likely come back next time we're in the area.

Great price. Microwave and fridge. Motel is worn and tired but clean. Bed was average. Thin walls - could hear neighbor's conversations and tv. Good value for the low price.

Nice lady for check-in and out. Room comfortable with basic necessities provided. TV was great! Great hot water supply! Bed firm and comfortable. In need of some updating and maintenance, but price was reasonable and the room was clean, as were the lobby, entrance, and parking lot.

This is an older hotel. Price very good. It could use some renovation but everything worked. Ac was cold. No bad smells in my room. The staff was very polite and accommodating. Medium sized fridge/freezer . Microwave. I dont think there was breakfast. Stayed nextdoor at the bigger hotel and payed triple the price with a company discount, with an ac that didnt work. This is a good place to rest. Its not fancy. The price is fair. People are nice. I wont stay anywhere else in iron mountain

This is a basic older motel near downtown Iron Mountain. We just needed a place to sleep for the night and wanted to be able to walk to some local establishments. The rooms are basic, but clean and the rate was the most reasonable in town.

This trip was a 180 degree turn around from last. Carpets were stained. Towels stained, a/c loud, smelled bad, mattress rock hard, refrigerator not plugged in on arrival so it was warm. The only redeeming factor is that no one was staying there so it was relatively quiet. Checked out a day early.

There was a ring of black mold around the top of the bathroom walls, likely due to being used as extended-stay lodging. The motel is old and in great need of renovation.

The shelves in bathtub/shower we’re not clean looked like they had mold or mildew or something green or black in the cracks… The towels were sort of thin and skimpy. I have used two of them to dry off. Of course we realize this is an extreme budget motel so going by that it was acceptable for us. We stay in a lot of motels as I work on the road.

No heat - walked into a 65 degree room, with outside temperatures forecast to fall into the 40's during the night. We couldn't get the heat to turn on and had to get the manager. He pushed many buttons, lectured us, and bled water from the radiator system - telling us it would be warm in 15 minutes. After 30 minutes, no change. We contacted the manager again and he then confessed that the heating system was not turned on because it was summer (Sept. 7). By then it was late and we slept in a very cool room.

The property owner was very friendly and even loaned me a USB charger because I forgot mine. A lot of motels have USB chargers built into the lamps or wall outlets, but this motel is very basic. It met my needs and was clean and comfortable. They also have coffee in the office in the morning. Some of the dinning options in the area are only open 4-5 days a week, so limited dinning within walking distance is a small problem. I'd stay again!

Exactly what I was looking for! The price was right, and the accommodations were more than I was expecting! I will stay here again if I have an early morning airline flight, as it is better than driving from home in the dark for 2 hours and chancing a flat tire and missing my flight! The owner was very friendly and I felt safe as a single traveler staying there.
