What guests think

Across recent reviews, Holiday Inn Express Flint-Campus Area by IHG earns frequent praise for clean, comfortable rooms, a satisfying hot breakfast, and friendly staff, though some guests encountered maintenance hiccups and service frustrations during busy check-in periods.

Housekeeping and maintenance can be inconsistent, with reports of nonworking HVAC or showers and occasional cleanliness lapses such as hair, dirty fixtures, or bugs. The location is convenient to downtown, the university, and highways, but several guests found the surrounding area poorly lit, with limited nearby dining and a generally unsafe feel. Amazing staff, Leanne went above and beyond with the shuttle service to the machine shop. The hotel was clean. The room had everything you need. Coffee maker , bar fridge and toiletries. The bed was comfortable. The blankets and pillows plush and clean. The variety for breakfast was amazing, the staff in the kitchen was very helpfull and attentive. Great package to buy tickets to machine shop and get a great rate at the hotel. restaurants right around the corner. Found the Soggy Bottom restaurant with fantastic meal options. Great package, travelling from Canada I will definitely be back.

The staff was friendly but not overly expedient. The facility was not well lit and the signs weren’t in clear view Main issue is property is advertised as having an EV charger but none could be found and staff was not aware of any charging stations close by.

The staff was absolutely awesome. Great with my younger child. The continental breakfast was best I've had anywhere else. Only negative I can come up with are that the door in the room I had was ridiculously hard to open. But all in all I would definitely recommend this place. It's clean, again the staff, the food and even the parking lot is kept up. If only it has a pool...

Room was cleaned and comfy. Elevator made a weird noise when we used it. Please get that checked. Also the elevator was dirty, which made us scared of how the room would look. But we were pleasantly surprised. There are really no views in the rooms. Parking was a little scarce

Staff were very nice overall. Average in terms of hotels. Can tell it was an older hotel that they tried to renovate to look more current. Very strong smells of air freshener in the room and hallways. Room itself was not as clean as it could have been. Dirty hand marks on the shower walls, indicating that they did not really wipe everything down like you would expect, especially in the bathroom! It was ok for the fast visit we made while driving through late, but would not choose to return in the future.

This was your average hotel. Nothing really special. The night we checked in, the guy at the counter was rude and basically said the $100 hold fee was if my kids destroyed the room (they are 13 & 9 and were literally standing being quiet as this was happening). The actual room was clean but we could hear an entire conversation word for word from our neighbor at midnight. In the morning, breakfast was ok but the lady doing breakfast was super nice and even helped my little one get to the table. The lady at checkout was also very kind. Probably won’t stay here again though.

My stay was Great. The staff was amazing, very welcoming and engaging. Room was extremely clean as well as the property. My only issue was my heat did not work! There was no wall unit to control the temperature. There was a digital PTAC system, but even set to High fan and 85 degrees, it continued to blow out cold air. It snowed that night and temperatures dropped below 20 degrees. My husband and I were exhausted and went straight to bed after arriving around 10pm, we assumed it would take time to warm up. After waking up around 1am to an extremely cold room we just turned the unit off. These things happen!

When we arrived at night, our shower was not working properly. We decided to wait to mention it to the front desk because of the time. The maintenance technician was able to fix our shower within the time it took for use to eat breakfast. Just had to wait an hour for caulk to set. I was very happy with the effectiveness of them to fix the issue. Other than that: Room was great. Breakfast was good. Location was very close to downtown.

Friendly helpful front desk staff. She helped us find a great place to eat. Only problem was there were 17 people trying to check in but the manager came out and not only didn’t help, she made one of the girls leave the front desk to “talk about the work schedule” So she left 1 girl in charge of all 17 guests.

I was surprised to see the reception gave me a room given to someone else. When the key didn't work, they remade the key for the same room. Until I opened and went into the room to find someone is in the room. Things to get worse, I was told that the receptionist is doing a long shift, and it was the reason for the confusion. Not even a proper apology for me. I am assuming there is no apology to the person in the room I opened. Never had this experience in my 40 years of traveling. Very disappointed.

We stayed here for two nights and cost roughly $300. The moldy smell when we checked in was off putting but we figured it was cleaning chemicals or something. We had spiders, beetles and other bugs that we found in our room. The toilet seat wasn’t attached properly, breakfast was unpleasant that we still had to go out each morning. When we checked in the woman was complaining about working on her day off when she finally greeted us as we stood at the counter for a solid 20 seconds with no an acknowledgment. There really isn’t anything for food around and being in downtown flint, the buildings surrounding this property were covered in spray paint and condemned.

The property itself met our needs. The rooms were a bit small but the place was relatively clean, breakfast was oi and staff were very friendly and accommodating. The cons were that Flint itself wasn't the best place to visit! Apparently some not safe areas and we did find that we had a very difficult time finding any place to eat including fast food! Absolutely nothing in the vicinity of the hotel and unfortunately nothing in the hotel itself except for breakfast! Would have been nice if they had a small restaurant with a bar perhaps that we could have had a bite to eat. Not sure if I'd come to Flint again but if I did, might look for another location unless its all like this!

Breakfast was amazing! I've been to other hotels and have never seen several options, as well as consistently resupplying food when it ran out, compared to this Holiday Inn. I had breakfast several times at this hotel this past week, and was always satisfied. In fact, that was one of the deciding factors of choosing this Holiday Inn over other local hotels. The only complaint I really have was not having a Do Not Disturb sign ready in the rooms I've stayed in; I booked this hotel twice in a week, and both times, no Do Not Disturb signs were visible within the room. I usually had to go to the front desk to get a sign.
