Great classic enchanting inn. Staff was great. The Inn could definitely use some updates and TLC.

I had high expectations for staying here and was excited that I was able to book a master suite. We found the hotel very tired and the rooms beyond tired. When you turned the bathroom sink on, it just started leaking, or you plugged something into the wall outlet the cord fell out because the outlet won't hold it. Paint was chipped everywhere from furniture scrapes or where they removed, probably a hair dryer from the wall, but didn't even paint over where they removed it. We were there for a reunion and it made sense to stay at the same location. The bar did not help our first impression. One bartender who was friendly, but no place to sit without moving the used wine glasses, plates, etc. so you could sit down on stained the patio furniture. After one drink we left and went across the street to Shaw's Steakhouse where we had a few hours of elegance.

The room was a bit stark. It looked and felt old. There was a fridge and microwave in the room as well as a coffee maker. I use a breathing machine when sleeping and had to move furniture to find an open receptacle. When I took a shower, the show head "hummed" due to vibration. I had to adjust the water stream to less than ideal area to stop it. There is a pedalstal sink. There was no room for my shaving kit.

When I stayed here, the pool was closed off. The staff, while I was checking in (2 women), was bickering about some guy coworker they have and a client who apparently checked in and complained about the room. Keep in mind, they were doing this while I was checking in. The place, from the lobby and all the way to the hallways leading to the room, were dirty and old. The pathway on the way to the "Century Room" was dusty--like they go out of their way to make sure to make it dusty to add to an aura that you are in a century old hotel. The lobby--if you take a look at the seats--dusty and old and requires upholstering if they want to keep the furniture...like the sweat and the stink of customers of years past have stuck to the linens. I like the size of the room--I booked the two queens--amazing size. However, the room that I was in, the window net was cracked open so a customer had stayed there and smoke before. The pillows and the sheets were clean, but my nose can still pick up smoke hidden by heavy chemical use to remove the scent. I need internet as I trade--and the internet was good. I think that's the only "good" part I liked. I also was booked at the 5th or 6th floor--so sliding the cigarette stained and smelly curtain was annoying but the view was nice. The only friendly person in the staff was the maid cleaning the room, and we made sure we tipped her well... So in conclusion, it failed my "will you stay here again" test as there are plenty of options near by.
