Beautiful lobby but had a bar that you could never get a drink at. Also we had a room at the end of the hall which was an unbelievably long walk. One elevator in the whole place!

The hotel & marina was nice. The room was comfortable. The view of the seals & pacific ocean was beautiful. But, you have to pay for everything, such as parking, either valet or by the day, its $40. No free breakfast, though it opened early for the guests, you still needed to pay. About $15 pp (No alcohol). Also, the hotel automatically charges for the lifestyle amenities, such as bikes, paddleboards, etc, even if you dont use them. This is why the overall score was 4 stars & not 5. Nice location, comfy rooms & service was excellent! Just be prepared to pay!

We stayed here for Beachlife Festival and while it was more pricey than other hotels, we wouldn't have done it any other way. It's a short walk to the festival which makes it's very convenient to come and go as you please and go back to the hotel to refresh (or nap...) It was nice to sit by the pool and jump in the hot tub too. There are many restaurants on the boardwalk and the hotel food was pretty good too.

The hotel is close to the ocean. We got to observe marine animals up close. Rooms are not huge but cozy. Fitness center is small. But we got one hour bike riding for free while enjoying beach scenes. Nothing beats that.

The lobby was simply perfect! We spent an evening just relaxing and warm fire place ambiance. The "Tappy"hour was a very nice addition to being able to have a cold beer after the bartender went home. We very much enjoyed the 3 night stay! Be back again!

Very friendly staff, excellent service and easy access to beach, restaurants and shops. The property is older but very well-maintained. Lots of outdoor activities including paddle boats, kayaking, biking, and swimming. The bar and lounge was friendly and luxurious. The restaurant was light and airy with great food, great service, and beautiful views of the marina. The only minor issue we had was that the glass balcony to our room was a bit marred by birds and was not properly cleaned. Highly recommend this property to anyone wanting to be spoiled for a few days!

We arrived very late - room smelt funny. Maybe the carpets need cleaning. Was a musty old smell. Beds were small. Lobby area was nice to hang out in and the restaurant overlooking the marina was fun to spot seals and sting rays.

The hotel is old and not well maintained. The tv stand in our room had a damaged door and rust. The bathroom did appear very clean. There were streak marks on the tiles and walls which were clearly from moisture running down the walls during use which are not routinely cleaned. If it was a less expensive place, I would give it a 3 but for as much as I paid for a deluxe king ocean view room, I expected a lot better.

The hotel is nice and you can rent bikes to ride in Hermosa Beach. But we had ants in our bathroom and room. They were nice and offered to change rooms but there were ants there too. We did get $100 credit to use at the restaurant. Nice people but probably older hotel on the water.

This is my third or fourth time staying at the Portifino Hotel. Prior stays were wonderful causing me to return. I especially enjoyed the quiet and cleanliness of both the rooms and surroundings..This stay however was different. We stayed in beautiful suite with an amazing view of the ocean and enjoyed the calls of Sealions. We were disappointed by the suites insect problems. Ants, silverfish, and roaches permanent residents. We told the front desk and was given a $100 discount for having been bitten all night long. Laughable considering that doesn't even cover my parking cosys.

Great Location. FABULOUSLY friendly staff...actually unusually friendly...made the stay really nice. Room and bed good CRITICISMS: 1. Bathroom Lighting Horrible...could not see well to shave. 2. No Grab bar in tub- dangerous for anybody 3. Need more hooks and shelving in bathroom - really nowhere for 2 guests to spread out toiletries.

Not what we expected for the cost. We asked for an ocean view - we got a view of the inlet because we were put on the 1st floor. The bed was comfy as were the pillows. Not a lot of amenities and not much space in the bathroom to set stuff. There wasn’t even a full-length mirror. Only 2 bath size towels. But, it was fun to listen to the sea lions or seals out on their perch. Well, that is until they were still at it at 10:00 p.m. and kept it up quite a bit of the night! LOL. There is a little patio where we could sit and watch the boats go by. Again, Hotels.com stated there were laundry facilities — there are NOT. It is within walking distance of Redondo Pier with dining options and a little shopping. All in all, not bad - but certainly not up to expectations. The lobby and grounds are very nice! The room just left a little to be desired for the cost.

Portofino could use some serious updates to property, especially with the rates they charge. I had a wonderful stay about 5 years ago but things have since become very outdated and in need of some TLC. Staff was great and accommodating. Bed was comfortable.

No microwave. The suite isn't really a suite...that used to mean living and sleeping areas separated by a wall and door...not so. Small room. Unsecured internet. Seals barked all night. Very expensive room service. Not a family vacation property.

When I booked I thought the Hotel would be nicer from the pictures. The room was small bathroom lighting is horrrible bathroom smelled like old. The mini fridge is so outdated and they control the AC I don't like that.

Hotel is wonderfully situated right on the outside of the harbour, so my room had an amazing sea view and also prime viewing for a local sea lion colony. A little noisy for light sleepers but I enjoyed their banter. Room was large, Aircon good and the bed was comfortable. Staff were polite and helpful and the restaurant attached to the hotel overlooking the marina was excellent. Only slight niggle was a longer walk to my room because of renovations taking place. I’ll definitely stay again next time I’m in the area 👍👏👏👏

Very poor service from start to end: valet wreaked of weed, was not at all helpful in assisting us with luggage, only 1 receptionist scrambling to attend to 2 groups of airline attendants plus normal customers, texted request to find ice machine twice with no response until 3 hours post departure, the Balline restaurant was awesome but the service was near nonexistent, seriously!

Craig, along with the entire staff at Porto, were excellent! They were friendly, kind and went out of their way to ensure we were happy with our stay. This is a great location if you're looking for a quieter spot. Easily can walk to restaurants, shopping, and most importantly, the beach.

It took over an hour to check in. We got to the hotel at 8pm and were told our room was not ready. We were traveling with a 2 year old and completely exhausted. They finally found a room for us but tried to charge us in full for the room. I showed them my receipt from hotels.com and they confirmed the room was prepaid for, but they said they had to charge me for the full price of the room to check in. They assured me I would be refunded the double charge within a week. It is now 2 weeks later and I still have not been refunded the double charge. I have called the hotel 3 times and no one has been able to help me. I am now disputing the double charge through my credit card company. This has been such a hassle and waste of time for me. There was also a leak in our room leaving our carpet wet in one corner. Finally we paid $35 to have our car parked in valet, but it was very obvious someone went through my car. They left the lights on inside the car, all of the seats were moved all the way forward, and everything was moved around.

The location of this hotel is perfect. Located on the shore of the Pacific, I could’ve stayed sitting on my balcony for days (and did for 3 days). Karl Olden, the Director of Rooms, helped make an exceptional trip truly a one of kind stay. The hotel has all you need - pool and hot tub, nice workout room that included a couple Peloton bikes, fruit-infused water, a great bar area for relaxing (aptly called the living room), and even a terrific restaurant. We’ll definitely stay again whenever we’re in the South Bay. We had a fully accessible room that made it a perfect stay for my husband, who is in a wheelchair.

Very saddened by the poor treatment while staying at this property. Really felt like we were treated differently because we were black. We were only embraced by one staff member Craig at the front desk. Upon returning to the property one afternoon with our permit in the window we were asked if we were lost or were we expected at an event when we told the attendant we were staying at the property and our permit was in the window he stated "Oh." We went to the restaurant onsite BaLeen where we were made to wait while others were immediately seated. The staffs engagement with other guest was very friendly while with us it was dry. Live music was playing at the restaurant when we inquired about sitting in the area we were told it was a waitlist and the area was virtually empty. I would never stay at this property again. We felt extremely uncomfortable with the stares and glares. Extremely expensive not worth it.

The hotel is in a great location, lots of complimentary amenities…Even though my stay was only for one night, I arrived a bit early around 2pm. Upon checking in, I was told my room wouldn’t be ready until closer to 3:30pm (check-in is 4pm). I just wanted to be able to use the pool while I waited for my room to be ready, but the man who checked me in seemed a bit put off since I didn’t have a key card yet and he would have to let me in. So instead, he told me I could go use the complimentary bikes and take a ride down to the pier or have a drink from their self pour area. Some of the options didn’t work, so I ended up just having sparkling wine. Around 4pm, I still didn’t receive a text/call and was told by another front desk employee that room will be ready soon. So I went to do a quick bike ride down the pier. Came back around 4:35pm, and waited in line to check in finally. Still never got a call/text. I wasn’t able to get into my room until around 5pm! At that point, I just wanted to shower and enjoy the sunset. No point in using the pool as the sun went down at 6:15pm.…granted it was a busy Saturday and I was only able to stay one night, I still feel very disappointed in the whole checking in process.

The Portofino Hotel & Marina is highly recommendable to friends who are not on a budget. The staff are warm and courteous; check in was fast and easy, the room was clean/well kept, and the restaurant offers excellent food! The location was superb... so close to everything: shopping, beach activities, and restaurants. One great staycation experience for our family! Oh! And there's a "free" performance that you could watch (music you could listen to) at the lounge after a busy day doing other things.

Great Views of the western sunset on the ocean. It's a little pricey, but worth it if you want a comfortable bed, a sunset view, and listen to the seals in the harbor. The nearby Baleen restaurant is excellent for breakfast or dinner. For me, it is a Southern California treat and well worth the price.

Great hotel. Oceanfront room was amazing. Listening to the sealions from our bed and watching the sunset. Good breakfast options. Bar in Balleen was too cold to enjoy. Shame the bar in the main hotel was not open when we were there. Staff friendly and helpful. Would love to stay again. Recommend bikes and kayaks. Bike path all along the beach and kayak out to the sealions on the barge.
