The pictures on the website looked amazing and then when we got there, it just looked so old and rundown and it smelled like cigarettes. It smelled horrible and we were mostly intrigued by the back patio with the pool area was closed for renovation.

My dad and i stayed for a family funeral for 3 nights. We were told on the first night it would be a one time amenity fee, and on the last night they told us it was per night. which was not communicated. Hot tub was NOT hot. it was the same temp as the pool, until we were on hold with the front desk for 20 minutes so I could tell them that the hot tub was not hot. they finally came out and raised the temp but it never got to "hot tub" temps. it was like a warm bath. unacceptable. The outer deck of the hotel was disgusting. it was FULL of spider webs. no calm place to sit. The bottom hallways were hot and muggy, the room AC had problems, it was on and off every 2 minutes and never got down to the temp I had set it. although that was not my biggest problem. The bathroom sink granite was broken down the middle. waiting to fall. (i used to install granite) its a matter of time that wood underneath gets wet, fails and falls on someones foot. They only had one toilet paper roll in our bathroom, we asked for more and it never came, i had to go to front desk a day after i requested it to get one. Also our rooms sheets and towels were never changed. I wont be staying here again.

This property is good but I always have nit-picky issues here. This time it was: TV had to be fixed by mtce twice, WiFi is flaky, the parking lot was being re-paved which was inconvenient. Also, there’s a new, daily $15 parking fee. There’s nowhere else to park so customers are forced to pay it. I don’t know if this is an Orange County or State of CA mandate. I’m going to check other hotels in the area. The Staff goes out of their way to accommodate, so plus points for their efforts. I’m pretty demanding and I know it.

We told the front desk that we do not need custodial service. Two hours later, and I placed a "do not disturb" sign on our door, the custodial staff just walked right in on us. I met with the custodial supervisor "Sergio" and told him what happened and he said: describe them to me, what did they look like, what was their name, we don't do that, it is not our fault that the front desk did not tell us if the room was still occupied,etc. he argued with me and I was trying to help him. Then, I file a complaint to the front desk (meanwhile my girlfriend is traumatized and sitting in the shower crying) and the front desk tells me "oh it was a simple mistake" I said "no, this is not a mistake this is a case of non-compliance with her staff and that they do not comply with basic rules and that they need to be re-trained" Everything about this incident was bad. They did not offer me a free night stay or anything. Meanwhile our day was ruined and we had a wedding to attend that day. The jacuzzi was scolding hot. I have photos of the burns. Why is the jacuzzi over 105 degrees? Totally unsafe for all who come near the jacuzzi. This location is straight out "RUDE!" Probably will never go there ever again!

The hotel is attractive, clean, nice pool but too cold this time of year to try it out. The bar was pleasant. We chose the hotel because it was convenient to a family gathering. It’s not a destination. Good for business in the area.

The hotel is RUN DOWN! It needs a much needed TLC and remodel. The carpet in the walkways are wrinkled and torn. You can hardly roll your luggage on them. The room is a good size but it needs to be maintained. There is visible wear and tare all pf the place. The items that have been attempted to get fixed, looks terrible! I wouldnt stay here again. Its shocking that this hotel is owned by a bigger corporation that owns 6,000 hotels yet it looks like its bet let go completely. The potential is there but the hotel reminds me of a motel!

This was not a leisure trip for me, it was business related. So I was hoping to at least get some decent rest and shut eye, since it was Tuesday/Wednesday. But… Let’s start out with the extra fee they charge for an early check-in. I had absolutely no choice but to drop my stuff off before heading into my meetings. I get that it’s the policy, but I’ve never been charged to enter a room early if it was already ready for me. The definition of that is grifting. I have been to many cities, and Vegas hotels many times, but have never ONCE been charged to enter a room early. The rooms are run down, pigs with lipstick on them. The sheets were dirty - blood on the fitted sheet? Disgusting. Ripped that off immediately and just laid on the regular sheet. The AC was SO loud, I could barely hear my thoughts form. I had to keep it on all night since I was in an adjoined room set up - the neighbors thought it was TIME TO PARTAYYYY and laugh and scream all night. So the AC it was to drown their noisiness down. Who pregames in Laguna Hills hotels? Lol.. They give you tap water in a glass bottle, call it eco friendly. The coffee maker didn’t work. The bathroom had flickering lights, I suppose Halloween is around the corner, so it’s ambiance. The bathroom fan did not work. Water pressure and heat in the shower was decent though. THE wifi… Every 5 minutes it would cut out and freeze. This was the worst! Their WiFi is awful, better bring a hotspot or a laptop/tablet if you want to survive.

Wouldn’t stay here again for multiple reasons, take your pick of them: 1. SECURITY CONCERNS - key stopped working after two days, went to the front desk to get it fixed. I was asked for my room number and was given a key card without any verification of my name or ID. So anyone with a key card from the hotel can get into any room by simply asking. 2. Leaking shower - half door in shower does not prevent water from leaking into the bathroom and hallway. Bathroom door had extensive water damage from this. 3. Thin walls - you can hear everything in neighboring rooms, including the tv at 3 am. 4. Cleaning rag from housekeeping was left in the room.

This hotel was the cheapest place to stay in the area as all of Orange County is pretty expensive. It was conveniently located right off the 5 freeway and there were also many restaurants and bars within walking distance. We also were given a voucher for a free drink at the hotel’s restaurant. I did notice that the carpets needed to be replaced because they did look old and dirty. Our room wasn’t the cleanliest either as we did see some handprints on one of the walls and on the headboard of the bed. There was also a spot of blood on the outer part of the sink in the bathroom- that was a turn off. I was hoping to soak in the tub after a long day, but they only had a shower. The water pressure was good and their Woodbury brand of soap and cleansers were nice as they smelled like brown sugar and fig. The service overall was friendly and accommodating. It was a ‘meh whatever’ place to stay for the night. Probably wouldn’t return though.

When checking in they gave me a card that did not work to get into my room. Had to walk back down to get a new one. Went into the room after getting the right key card and everything looked pretty good until we hit the bed. Bed sheet was dirty and had white stains on them. Had to take off the first layer from the bed because of the stains there were. Some stains appeared to be white, blood drops, and dirty smudges. When we hit the second layer they were ok but that’s where the white stain was at. At this point we didn’t want to think about anything else because we were so tired that we stayed there. Also drawers wouldn’t close and would open after closing it. Checkout is at 11am and at 9am cleaning services tried to come inside our room! I put the do not disturb sign out on the door knob and still decided it was ok to open the door? Not ok! Didn’t even knock or anything just decided it was ok to come in. Overall experience sucked. I won’t be staying here no more!

The remodel is beautiful, especially in the lobby and check in guest areas. However, since we went to rest for a few days and take a break, it was very inconvenient to find out that during the remodel the one thing they did not replace or update, was the air conditioners? They are so loud, I’ve really never experienced anything like it. Thumbs down.

My 4 day stay was especially problematic. I have a list of issues that I can’t fit in this comment box. WiFi was flakey, cable TV needed the mtce guy to fix twice, hotel room card keys had to be replaced twice. I felt like I was being punked. No outlets for iPad, iPhone and iWatch. The list goes on and on. I’m doubt I’ll be back.

This was the worst stay ever! The Air conditioner unit was extremely loud and I could not sleep all night. I got up and went to the front desk, I spoke with the person about the situation and he just said, I am sorry sir, I made a note of it! I told him that it was unacceptable, and he just apologized again. I went back to my room, called the person at the front desk, place the telephone up, so he can hear the noise and he responded Wow, it is very loud! You can try to turn off the AC to see if that works! I turn off the AC and I could not sleep since it was getting warm in the room. I went out side sat by the couch in the lobby for an hour to try to relax! I am so tired today as a result, I feel robbed! It is completely understandable and I am so disappointed! I should not be charged for this bad experience.

Jose at the front desk was very rude and hung up in my face when I called the front desk . I called and asked for towels and he said they were very busy and then he just hung up in my face. Also one of the housekeeping people came in my room while I was in there. They didn’t knock at all. Then they was no room service . The place sucks and I would not recommend. I had to stay there for 3 nights because my son had a basketball tournament. But I will never return.

Waited a solid 30 minutes to get a “complimentary drink”, TV did not work which is the main reason people stay at hotels is to watch TV (called for service and took hrs for NOONE to show up), and it was just not the best experience.

Stayed here for a business trip to the area. The hotel has some age on it, but it is well-maintained and clean, which is all I ask. The hotel staff was very friendly. The wifi is free and fast and lots of free parking is available. The are a few shopping and restaurant options within a short driving distance. I would stay here again if in the area.

The property’s location is great and close to many restaurants and the freeway. I thought its interior needed some upgrades that’s all. The staff is all helpful and friendly. It’s good value and a 5 minutes drive to the place we needed to be this weekend so that’s a huge plus!

Very nice hotel, rooms big and very clean. I was in a room facing freeway and it was so loud I thought a window was open. Hotel should do more to soundproof those rooms. Nice bar for drinks, staff very friendly.

Nice room and hotel. Very uncomfortable bed. Bedding nice but the bed was so hard it was painful. The restaurants were not delicious! The coffee was Folgers and the nachos were blah. It was nice that they did service our room during our tow night stay.

I thoroughly enjoyed my stay; however, this site advertises live music, and I was there the 03/14 - 03/15 weekend, and live music was non-existent. That really disappointed me! VERY DECEPTIVE!!!

This hotel was in a safe area. Staff were friendly and helpful. They serve a good breakfast. The walls were pretty thin as I could hear lots of noise. There were a shortage of outlets near the desk and bed. The one outlet by the sink did not work.

Breakfast was really sub standard, eggs overcooked potatoes undercooked. I've had better breakfast at Dennys. I tried to tell the lady at the desk that the light in our "lighted mirror' was broken. She didn't know what I was talking about. They should be familiar with the rooms, more training needed.

We had a wedding to go to so they let us check in early and waived the early check in fee. This hotel is a great combo of nice and a hint of luxury but without a huge price tag. Facilities were clean. Dining options were good but a little overpriced. Right on the interstate makes coming and going easy and it’s in a nice area in north laguna woods!

I thought it was nice that they give you a free cocktail for every night that you stay and there’s usually some live entertainment going on in the lounge when you go to get that cocktail. For me, this was all about convenience as my daughter lives only a few miles away. Morning to go coffee wasn’t easy to get down in the dining room. Room is clean. They were gracious to change my room when I wasn’t thrilled to be the closest to the freeway. I didn’t feel safe at this location which is always important when you’re traveling alone.

Tried The Hills after my other usual stay place was booked up. The area looked nice - secluded at the base of a residential area, quiet even though close to the freeway. However, closer inspection gave it a meh rating. The rooms are nice, as clean as they can be, but there's a dorm-like feeling about them. Minimalistic decorations, carpeting is suspiciously stained. Bathroom door (pocket door) seemed warp and wouldn't stay closed. We tried out the bar the first night for our complimentary drink (nice!), but they were out of mixers for the custom drinks so settled for different drinks. BTW, for whomever needs to hear this, white zin is NOT rose. When I checked out, I stopped by the lobby for a cup of coffee for the road. It was after seven, but the breakfast area was deserted with no food out. Maybe it was meant to be dine-in, but all I can say is this is the first place I've ever been that charges a $20 amenity fee and then $3 for coffee. As I told them, ridiculous.

The hotel was beautiful and my room was very clean, nicely-furnished and extremely comfortable. The staff was pleasant and helpful. The only minor criticism I have to make is that the towels in my room were a bit rough. Everything else was great.
