Our trip to Irvine/Sonesta Simply Suites started well as I booked through hotel.com so everything was paid upfront but quickly declined! Upon checking in we were informed that there would be no maid service as they only clean 1x per week. We were assured that someone would be at the desk 24 hours in case anything was needed. The room was very hot and stuffy upon arrival so we turned on the wall unit for cool air and it had been monkey rigged somehow with an addition that was laid on top of the original cooler and placed into the adjoining bedroom through a hole in the wall that was never sealed! The unit rattled constantly all night so we got very little sleep. The fold out couch bed was basically springs with a mattress cover and sheet over it so my grandsons slept on the floor and in a recliner. We tried to get blankets but no one was down at the desk as promised! Our room was right above where the next door Hospital ambulances parked so every time they would get a call it woke us up and then when they returned they would stand down there and talk forever! When we went to make breakfast the next morning there were only 2 utensils for the 4 of us. When we needed a towel or anything else we had to track down a maid who was cleaning other rooms all 4 days/nights that we stayed there! The day after returning home there was an additional $56 charge to my bank so I called Sonesta to find out what it was for and they said they charge to park in their parking lot! Never again!!!

I had to pay $7 to park on public parking. The elevator was down for who knows how long but was not working when I stayed there. I had to carry luggage up the stairs. The keys are a joke! I don’t know how many times I had to try the darn key to get in, then it finally takes it. I saw my neighbor having the same issue and they went to complain. The hallways are stuffy and smelly.

The stay went well. However what made me unhappy was the undisclosed parking fee. While I was asked if I had a car, and given a pass to put in it to avoid a tow, the daily fee was not mentioned. I’m do see where the fee is mentioned on Sonesta’s web site. However when I book with hotels. Com, I expect this sort of fee to be disclosed. I loathe unexpected charges and will try my best not to stay again at this property.

People at reception friendly, but room was dirty - floors were terrible, sticky and smudgy. Room had construction grade blower on and blowing for some reason into one corner of the room when I entered the room first night. I was not feeling good at all and wanted to go to bed and so I did not complain nor asked for exchange. Maybe, it would be handled well as the staff seemed quite friendly, but I did not try.

When we got to our room it was dirty. We noticed outback Steakhouse food bags in the kitchen, pimple patches in the restroom, urine on and under the toilet seat and the shower curtain was taped up with silver tape. So we knew the room wasnt cleaned properly before pur arrival. The entire 7 days we stayed we heard nothing but loud foot steps above our room day amd night. It sounded like dogs or multiple people running around. The staff was helpful when we needed towels.

It's a very worn facility. The interiors need a major update. Its real benefit is that it's adjacent to Hoag hospital Irvine, but my room was awful. The kitchen and table surfaces were sticky from a nasty cleaning solution they use, but worse...The room smelled of cooking grease when you walked in. The lounge chair had duct tape on the arms and light fixtures in the bathroom were rusting. The halls were worn and everything was beige. It looks like the property has never been update since it was opened. Honestly it wasn't that much less expensive than other nearby hotels in Lake Forest but it was less than half of the hotels in the Spectrum area. All it needs is to be renovated...but I wont stay there again given the condition of my room and the fixtures.

The property is old and needs upgrades. The refrigerator ran constantly and was extremely noisy. The bathroom did not have anyplace to put your things. The carpet smelled. The dishes were dirty.

The overall area where the property is nice and quiet. The room was nice and had a nice little kitchenette. The issue that my partner and I had was the we found a condom wrapper behind the reclining chair. I'm sure that it was missed by the cleaning staff, but that caught us off guard for sure. If you get a room the is clean, then you will be content with your stay.

Location is clean and quiet. Room was small, layout is cramped. Small bed. They said it was a queen, it wasn’t. And that’s the only bed size they offer in all there rooms. The AC was very loud and inefficient. Couldn’t get the room to a comfortable stable temperature, and the AC would blast very loudly on and off. So loud that you couldn’t listen to the TV. Also, TV - Hotel only provide non-subscription viewing. No HBO, etc…. I won’t stay there again.

Overall this property is about average, not great not bad. A few things to note though, In the hallways the air felt kind of thick like there wasn’t a ton of circulation happening. The door to my room would stick, I’d have to put my weight into it to get it to open. The TV always defaulted to a different input than what the cable box was on. There’s not much sound dampening between the floors, I heard the person in the room above me pacing for hours. If you just need a place to sleep, it’s fine overall.

It was a decent place. A little run down and older in the rooms. They are suites that people live in so the chair was peeling and the side table was rusty and beat up. In general it was fine for the night but I'm sure there was better options.

We spent 2 nights while my wife underwent medical treatment. This is not a fancy hotel, but an economy hotel that is a great value, especially in an expensive area like Irvine. The.facility.is modern, clean, and serviceable but basic. The room was large, clean and comfortable. I found the bed to be comfortable and slept well. The.kithen is well outfitted and has a full sized fridge. The staff was.friendly and responsive. Everything worked and.looked as advertised. If.you are on a budget, this is an excellent choice.

I have stayed here plenty of times and customer service is great. I was a little upset this past visit though, since I had to pay $40 additional dollar's for a room an already prepaid for. I booked two different rsvp and the person that checked us in said there would be no issue with us staying the same room. I would just need to check out in the morning and check back in which will be completely fine. Well of course when I went to the front desk the next morning there was an issue with us staying in our same room. The front desk person said since it’s a handicap room we would need to pay the differenced because our rsvp wasn’t specifically for a handicap room. Also if someone who had a disability booked that room we would need to move. I said I am a person with a disability who needs an accommodation since their elevator was in fact broken during our stay. I explained to the front desk person we were told we could stay in our same room without an issue from the person who checked us in the night prior. I had a meeting via zoom that afternoon so there was no way I was going to have time to move all of my items out to change rooms. She was only able to keep us in the same room only if I paid the additional $40 extra. I felt there was no consideration (as we were told there would be no issue) or accommodation as I explained I am a person with a disability. I just ended up paying the extra fee because I had no choice, my meeting was with a very important client.

We picked this location because of price and closeness to relatives we were visiting. Very happy with our stay. The only negative was when we got there, the staff said we had to pay $15 extra if we wanted to check in at 3:00. Even though she said our room was ready. We opted to come back later.

This Sonesta Simply Suites simply sucks. There's no other way to put it. I can't comment on the room or the property itself, as the hotel cancelled our paid reservation and sold the room out from under us without contact or any notice, leaving us to find another hotel at 10pm in the evening. Front desk staff and manager were entirely unapologetic and had no explanation for what occurred, even after being contacted by Expedia directly. Just thoughtless and terrible customer service. It's hard to concisely explain how furious I am with this whole experience. Don't ever book this place, there are a ton of other actually reputable options in the area. These people are terrible. You've been warned. You're welcome.

The staff was hardly at the front desk, room was not cleaned, we had to ask for fresh new towels & they asked us to return the old dirty ones first prior to us getting new towels. The room air temp is a wall unit, not central air conditioning.

The staff at the reception was unfriendly throughout our stay. The halls were dirty, unvacuumed. No cleaning service for the rooms. Took out my own trash. There was a $7 parking fee / night( surprise!) which was not mentioned in expedia. The reason for the parking fee was that security from HOAG was surveying the parking lot. Did not see any security going around in the area during my stay. Bathrooms were old. Need upgrade. I dont think I will be staying in this property next time I visit that area!

I arrived at the hotel at 2:15 and was told I would have to pay $15 for early check in or wait 45 minutes to check in with no additional charge. I've never heard of such a thing. If you have a room available, why can't I check in without paying extra. That's not good customer service.

Location good but we wish they have some kind of room service for cleaning maybe no cleaning if is not necessary but at lease pass to the room to ask if need for towels or trash bags, we needed to ask for them in the reception so was not very convenient for a long stay

Joanna and Esther at the front desk were very gracious and helped make our stay with two cats very pleasant. It was a tough time for us because we were near one of the LA fires, so we took off as a precaution, and the hospitality here was great! Joanna was incredibly welcoming and informative. If there was a Joanna at every front desk, every place would have five stars!

Came here for a soccer tournament at OC Great Park. Nice one bedroom suite. Dated AC unit and don't expect amenities. This place is strictly for sleeping and occasional gym use. Close (1.5 miles) to Sand Canyon plaza where they have many good food options and even a brewery. 3 miles from OC Great Park.

Overall it's a decent place to stay for a couple of nights. However, there were many amenities missing. For example, there was no tea, only coffee in the room. They only had green tea to pick up from front office. But she told me they have never carried black tea, for unknown reason. I have health issues with coffee and had to drive out to get black tea. This is a basic amenity that every hotel has except this one. Secondly, there is no salt/pepper in the room. All of these things had to be picked up from front office. For other hotels with kitchens, these were always available in the room. I just had to make multiple phonecalls and trips to the office to get these (no one delivered to my room either). The bed was comfortable but the service was very lacking.

On the whole a good property to stay if you don’t need a swanky, expensive hotel. With decent enough parking. People working there are nice and very helpful. The rooms are okay but could do with some upgrades and few things were not serviced well, like picture frame with no pictures in, ha! The bed making services work on a 7 day rota, so my stay fell outside their usual cycle sadly, but was able make do with help and also get additional things. Generally the room was clean, but can see places in corners of room where things were missed. The breakfast area is basic, partnered next to the gym. In my option they could have a smaller gym and focus on making a breakfast area/ service for people to get more business. At the moment you’re better off finding something local to eat at. Plenty of places near by for that, but when you need to get started early for work, it would be nice to have it available at hotel.

Shower was nice. Coffee was awful. Appliances were old and rusty. Did not get any clean towels. I had to stay additional night due to family in hospital and they kept raising my room charge . Some staff were rude.

Property was great to include a kitchenette. I was able to cook my own breakfast in the morning. In the gym area you could still get the basics of a breakfast with cereals and or coffee. Restaurants and grocery shopping were about a mile from the hotel is need be to get something for the kitchenette. Staff was extremely nice and helpful. Bed was very comfortable, large fridge in room was great as well. For a 2 star hotel, accommodations were great!
