The staff was trying their best but the hotel was being renovated and that did not lead to a smooth experience. The elevator was not in operation and I had to haul my luggage up 3 floors. The shower did not work the first night. Seems like the construction workers had master keys for all rooms as they entered my room twice when I was present. I don’t know about rest of my stay

The only good thing about this hotel is that it is within walking distance to the beach and main 101 strip. Other than that, the pool is green and closed, rooms are dirty and outdated and it feels very unsafe for solo travelers.

If all you need is a Clean, basic place to sleep. Good choice. Limited amenities. Lobby doesn't open until 7 a.m. for coffee and paltry snacks.The pool has never been open in the many times I have been here. I have stayed here at least 3 times over the years and the has NEVER been open.

if it wasnt for bad luck, they wouldnt have any luck at all. 1st day -- water to the property got shut off for like 12 hours instead of 2 hours... Also, somehow their internet provider was down for 4 days !?!? in 2024 in the US, stuff like this shouldnt happen... It happenned here.

The hotel was paving the totality of the parking area. The noise from the machines, the smell of tar, and having to park away from your room made the stay there regrettable. Plus, there was no way to access the office or room except to walk through the recent paving. My shoes were ruined from the tar sticking to the soles. Neither Hotels.com or the hotel informed me about the paving when making the reservation. The fair thing would be at least some consideration for the trouble and cost.

Carpet was very dirty my kids feet were black from walking on it the room smelt very bad and saw a cockroach in the bathroom was very disappointed in this room and breakfast was misleading as I booked this hotel based off the pictures had a nice breakfast all was provided was granola bars and coffee very misleading

Our stay was so bad we left early and demanded refund! There were cockroaches in the room crawling on us while we slept and in the bathroom , the bathroom was horrible the shower curtain was dirty , holes in the wall cheaply repaired cocking all over the place looked filthy! The beds were hard and uncomfortable! The air conditioner did not work and we didn’t sleep for two nights because we were dripping in sweat? Had to have window open which I didn’t feel safe! I couldn’t get out of that hotel fast enough!

Filthy dirty carpeting in room 140. Fifteen minutes after walking around, my white socks were black! Phone didn’t seem to work as no one answered as we called to check out. Walked down and a sign indicated they were at another property. Bathroom faucet stripped, spinning as you turned on. Air conditioner turned on and off all night long - no sleep. Shower floor gross. Stayed one of two nights as no choice. Left next morning. I would’ve demanded a full refund but no one was there when we went to check out. Expedia should be embarrassed to have this hotel offered.

This days inn in Encinitas is the worst hotel of my life. The blankets from the bed were dirty and the bathroom had mold and carpets were dirty and it’s smelled like wet carpet. This room was to unsafe heath wise to stay. My daughter suffers from asthma and allergies so there’s room was not a fit for us on top of that when you walk in those walkways be careful those walkways are or how low it seems that the wood underneath needs to be replaced so I wouldn’t doubt one day you’ll be a major accident. I am a safety Director, and I know what OSHA standards requires structures and buildings to be protected to their guest and to any people that course it’s the public

This place was rundown and dirty. In our room, there were floor boards with staples sticking out. there was a wet stain on the carpet by the refrigerator. And my family and I ended up with bites all over our body.

Upon entering the room I noticed how gross the carpet was. I found a cockroach in the bed and in the bathroom. The bathroom had holes in the walls and ceilings with mildew and mold. The parking lot by the room was closed as they ripped up the parking lot and repaved it. It woke me up and was very loud and disturbing. This was the dirtiest most unhealthy room I have ever stayed in. I believe this hotel should be investigated for health violations. I'd like a full refund.

The rooms have multiple repairs needed, especially in the bathroom. There was mold on the shower putty/grout in a few places and horrible ceiling patch jobs beginning to get dark brown. It is unhealthy and they need professional assistance. Secondly, the walls need insulation. It was a very noisy w patience and I heard the upstairs people all night as if bouncing and pounding on the floor. Third, there is almost no air flow unless an ancient old window a/c is on, which is loud. Fourth, people party near their cars outside and it is noisy. Staff were not helpful and often did not pick up my calls. I paid over $750 for 4 days and it was awful. I do not plan on taking Expedia nor Wyndham Days Inn again.

Pool closed, had I known I would NOT have reserved the hotel, that was the one thing we wanted. Beds are HARD and uncomfortable! Total appearance of the property was DIRTY! Breakfast…what a JOKE! Tub needed a wrench to turn off the water, toilet would run until you giggled the handle. Floor in room was wet next to bed! Spanish only maid not able to inform of need for towels, or leaks!

The staff was great, but the property was trash. When I walked into my room a stale odor hit me right in the face. I decided to turn on the ac and open a window to let it air out. The carpet was dirty I didn't even take my shoes off. Checked the bed took all of the bedding off and there was a nice gaping hole in the bottom of the mattress. Moved on to the bathroom and I had to re wipe everything because it just looked dirty from the floor to the ceiling. Got in the shower I thought I was going to fall down on the floor below me because the tub has a big crack in it. And instead of replacing it they did poor patch work. To make things a little more unsafe for me I went to lock my door with the latch lock but it was broken. It was too late to book a different hotel. I roughed it out for 15 1/2 hours. Good thing about this hotel its only 4 blocks from the beach.

Smallest room I’ve ever stayed in, but ok. Quiet (above office). I found the blackout drapes after my review on check-in. Carpet worn a bit, and the bed was extremely firm but better than worn out. Slept well until 7:30am when a semi-truck with trailer backed around the building with its alarm blasting. Very nice staff.

Poor staff experience after not honoring the booking. Had stayed 5 times before. Arrived at the motel and told I was unable to check in due to internet problems. Told I'd receive a call when I could check in, which I never receieved. They never honored the booking. No room, no call, no explanation, no good. Tried calling them to ask why. Was told they didn't see what the problem was given the fact I wasn't charged. The problem was it messed up my weekend away. Super unhelpful front desk manager.

The woman who checked me in was rude and condescending. I later found out she was rude and yelled at other guests earlier and was actually a newly hired manager. At midnight I had someone try to get in the room because apparently the system reflected a vacant room and a cancellation on my reservation which prompted another knock at the door by staff 15 minutes later. After 20 minutes sorting it out at the front desk I was checked in again but charged again. I had to get a refund from Expedia the next day. Honestly, this nightmare stay should have resulted in no charge. I will never frequent this hotel ever again.

Terribly dirty room - carpet was filthy and sticky to walk on. Tub in the bathroom was also stained and dirty. One of the beds in the room was wobbly and had a sagging mattress. We did not get any housekeeping during the entire stay. We were short on towels in the room, and asked the front desk for extra towels, which were never delivered. The second day, after asking again, the person behind the desk gave me a couple. Coffee maker supplies in the room were never refreshed, beds were never made and trash was never cleared for the entire duration of the stay. Complimentary breakfast was super basic - a to-go bag of frozen breakfast sandwich, a granola bar and a 2oz juice box. There were no options for vegetarians, apart from a bowl of apples. Location was convenient, right next to I-5, but the room we got faced the freeway, and so we got a lot of road noise at night. Room key cards didn't work reliably - we had to get them reset/changed twice during our 3 day stay.

I don't agree with the change of policy for the property. It's extremely unreasonable for the times that we're in and I hope the owners of the property realize that. Other then that,the staff at the front desk are very friendly,and patient as well. I can't say enough good things about Chantel andJuan. They really go above and beyond for the guest there and they should be acknowledged for their customer service.

Disappointed in comfort for bed ,mattress was too hard. And the on the go breakfast consisted of a granola bar, with a very small carton sized juice. They did have tea and coffee as well. Muffins or cereal would have been nice. When we got to our room the tub had a drip that was constantly running and we told desk about it when we got there and they said they would send maintenance and never did. We were at hotel from Sunday until Thursday and not once did they stock tp or towels we had to go to office to request it. We had two small garbage cans in our room and they were full so we emptied them. If we are staying overnight in a room and paying for it, it would be nice to be comfortable .

Overall, what made my experience here a delight, was the service at the front desk. I forgot their names, which is a shame, but if you see a beautiful woman with jet black hair and bangs, you’re already taken care of and you can now relax. As well as, the tall young gentleman with glasses, he has exceptional customer service. I have stayed in many nice hotels and what I remember most is how I was treated at each one. I’ll be staying here again.

First I want to start with the positive, which is the staff. They were very friendly and informative. They made the stay worth it. For the bad… first night we found a cockroach in the bathroom, thankfully only found one our whole stay. The “breakfast included” is literally a breakfast sandwich, oatmeal or granola bars. When I see breakfast included it tells me that we can actually eat a decent breakfast. Not the case here. I wiped down the table in the room and it was black! The shower leaked and the shower head had hard soap scum all around it, like it’s never ever wiped down. The toilet you have to flush twice before you can get it to flush. There were interesting people that are either staying in the place or just coming for the free granola bars and coffee. To me and my kids they seemed creepy. I can honestly say I would never ever stay or recommend this place to anyone. The amenities say renovated but these are far from that. The beds are like rocks. The pillows are just as hard. A lot of work needs to go into this place.

The grab & go breakfast was an apple & an oj. Yes there was coffee but I don't drink coffee. But that was the lamest breakfast or lack thereof I have ever seen! The room definitely needs a lot of help. The headboards are worn, the shower...I can't even explain it! The bottom was painted & there was a rubber strip & it was a mess. For $100 I expected a lot more! Should be a $40 motel. The screen was pretty much ripped off & there was a large tear in it.

This property is very old. It was close to the freeway so that made it convenient. The advertised “breakfast“ was a bag with an apple and some granola bars. Maybe there was more but it was disappointing, probably a two star overall.
