What guests think

At El Camino Inn, reviews describe a very basic, budget stay in an older motel with significant wear and maintenance issues, while some guests still found clean rooms, decent comfort, and value for the price.

Cleanliness feedback is mixed: multiple reports cite dirty or smelly carpets, strong deodorizers, and occasional bug sightings, though others said their rooms were clean. Rooms are dated and sparsely equipped, with recurring problems such as malfunctioning TVs or lamps, few outlets, weak or inconsistent hot water, noisy AC or fridges, and thin walls that carry noise. Staff are frequently described as friendly and accommodating, but a few guests noted unhelpful responses, and opinions on the location range from convenient to BART and Cow Palace to limited eateries nearby and occasional safety concerns. Expect a no-frills, low-cost stopover with trade-offs in condition and consistency.

Shopping and food within walking distance. The room itself had seen some prior damage, but the damage had been addressed to various levels of repair. But the room itself was clean and you can tell that they do care about providing a quality stay.

The smell!!!!!!!!!! The room smelled of strong disinfectant and bathroom air freshener. I had to go to a friend's house, take all my things with me, so that I could leave the windows open during the day. It made no difference to the smell in the room! The odor followed me everywhere I went! I don't understand why anyone would think it was acceptable to have their guests subjected to this chemical assault. I could barely sleep. I wish a brought gas mask with me. Otherwise... everything else was to be expected in a motel stay.

The location was convenient. Donut shop across the street was nice. The room was basic but serviceable. The rooms were a bit outdated, toilet seat was loose and slipping off to the side. One of the lamps didn't work, no blowdryer, no iron. Ultimately, I would probably not stay there again.

The place could use a cleaner furniture, the tv stand, cabinets, chairs need improvement. It looks old and outdated. The little refrigerator was noisy, one of the lamps was missing a bulb. The bed or mattresses were noisy.

I liked that it was close to my son, whom I was visiting. It is very old and in need of updating. Very few plugs, motel had piggyback several things onto one surge protector. Lamp next to bed did not work in room. TV did not work, had only 3 stations that worked, had to unplug cable everytime you changed stations, so you would get sound. Manager was nice.
