Pike's Waterfront Lodge

Clean, attractive, close to airport, and nice staff. I loved the view of the Chena River, outdoor fireplaces, and aurora viewing room, though we didn't see the aurora due to clouds. Those were nice features and there were many others as well. I would recommend it and would also stay there again.

This property is nice, but needs updating. The carpet in the hallway is worn. I certainly would not call the front desk staff and ice cream staff friendliest in the world as they advertise. The sauna was being renovated. Aromatherapy was not available. This should be noted on the website.

Complimentary breakfast awesome. Staff very friendly and go out of their way to be helpful and accommodating. Airport shuttle is on demand not on a schedule. So there is no need to make reservations.

The team went above and beyond to make my stay comfortable. I felt very welcomed here. We stayed here one night prior to our Princess Cruisetour and wished we could have stayed here rather than the Princess Lodge. The amenities were amazing. Loved the reindeer. This place had a fitness room that actually worked and was open during our stay. The hot breakfast in the morning was so nice. I didn't feel like I was being charged for every extra from Pike's. Being able to play a game of pool as well was an unexpected bonus.

Parking was terrible and there seemed to be no order in the lot mostly due to the fact that there was no painted lines to give the parking structure/order.

Old Lodge with nice amenities. Didn’t have the shuttle running into town which was our only glitch. Nice setting on the river with fire pits. Really enjoyed our stay.

This was a great hotel. Rooms were clean and beds were comfy. They have dinning and an ice cream social. There was a great library room. A movie room with a movie about the northern lights. A room with a pool table and even a glass viewing room if the northern lights are visible to see. Id highly recommend this hotel, you cant go wrong.

The room was outdated and dirty the curtain in both the bathroom and room were covered in dust. They are expanding on the property which is good but they should really put money back into current rooms to be updated.

Very beautiful near a river. Best experience walking around and enjoying the long bright days. Best breakfasts. Best decoration. The price was reasonable. The only weakness is the cleanness which unfortunately did not match up to the beautiful hotel. There was visible dust behind the bathroom door and the sink clogged during our stay. We informed the front desk staff in the morning, but nothing was done when we were back in the evening. Overall I still like it and highly recommend it

Last year was our first visit to Fairbanks and Pikes Waterfront Lodge, and we loved it so much that we decided to make it an annual tradition. Upon arrival, we were greeted by the same friendly staff we remembered from our previous visit. However, this time, we noticed several areas that could use improvement. Upon entering the cabin, I immediately noticed that the bathroom cleanliness was lacking. There was hair on the floor and in the bathtub, and the mounted hairdryer was greasy to the touch, with hair and dust accumulated on the holder. Additionally, the logs behind the bedhead were splitting, leaving a large gap through which I could see a considerable amount of dust inside. The cabin also lacked comfortable seating. There was only a single cushioned chair, so one of us had to sit on the bed while the other could enjoy the window view. The two kitchen table chairs were positioned at the desk, and the lone chair in the corner of the cabin was also uncomfortable. It would have been much more pleasant if the cabin included two single armchairs or a small sofa for more seating options. I also noticed a draft coming from the window and glass door, which made the cabin uncomfortably cold, especially with the below-zero temperatures outside. This suggests that the insulation may need to be reassessed. While the complimentary breakfast was a nice perk, the lack of variety after three consecutive days made it feel repetitive.

We stayed in one of the older buildings because we had a dog with us. I gave the property a 3 on cleanliness because that building and our room both smelled. I think someone had smoked in the room a few guests before us. The main buildings is nice with no smell. If we had stayed in a room I would have rated the property higher. The property is dog-friendly but they have specific first-level rooms in the older buildings reserved for guests with dogs. There is a very small dog park and nice pathways to walk your dog around.

Quiet , clean and comfortable

The room had a weird smell as soon as we walked in and it just didn’t feel fresh or clean. We ended up using our own perfume to try and make it a bit more bearable. What really bothered us, though, was that even though checkout wasn’t until 11:00 AM, we started getting knocks on the door around 8:00 AM from cleaning staff. It happened about four times, which made it hard to relax. The shuttle service was good.

Everything was as expected. The room is clean and the staff friendly and professional.

Wifi is very spotty

I stayed in the new section of Pikes, the rooms have either a balcony or a deck that runs the length of the building and overlooking the Chena River.

Nice Stay. Pros is that good staff and clean. Cons. Property is a bit cheaply made so was loud in that you could hear all your neighbors.

Overall, this is a great property to stay. The staff is friendly and professional. My only complaint was that controlling the room temperature was almost impossible. The a/c unit is too small for the space and we like a cool room summer or winter...

Building and rooms are showing their age

We stayed in a cabin and the location was quiet and private. Wifi was not too reliable, and amenities were good too. Some things could’ve been cleaner but we liked the convenience of breakfast airport transfers included

Everything was very outdated

Perfect for family but if on business and need acces to internet in the additional building good luck, was not able to stay connected to check email and when connected it was slow.

The property was great from a vacation experience point of view. Gave a real feel for the Alaska "lodge" perspective. Breakfast was great. Cabin was nice. Fire pits were a nice touch. My only complaint is, as a business traveler, I needed quality, consistent internet connection in my room. In my cabin it was almost non-existent. When I asked about a room with better service I was told that they all tended to have the same problem with spotty service. It was suggested that I try the business center, but that really wasn\'t the answer I needed for the business I had to do. I ended up using my phone as a wifi hotspot to get the job done. Overall I really liked this location and will plan to stay there again the next time I am in Fairbanks. I will just be aware of the internet issue and plan my work accordingly.

Booked thru expedia and chose prepaid option several weeks in advance. Showed up at hotel and they had no record of a reservation so they had no management on site and made we wait a long time until someone finally showed up to fix the mistake. They did not apologize and the manager would not even come out from the back to explain why this happened. I have stayed at Pikes several times and have told many other business associates about them but will not stay here again after this happened.

When the shuttle driver saw that my son had a CPAP, he called ahead to the front desk to have distilled water for us when we arrived. The staff was just as attentive in all aspects of our stay.

Staff went above and beyond to assist us with printing vital documents in a pinch. The shuttle service and driver were accommodating and gracious. The little things done at this hotel to make my visit go smoothly were much appreciated.

Brief stay while awaiting pick up to next destination (3pm) they simply would not budge on anything other than an 11am checkout which left us 4 hours of wandering around. Plenty to do here, but a little flexibility would have been nice

It was conveniently located by the fairbanks airport and a free hotel shuttle was available. There was plentifuly parking out front as well. The decor is warm & rustic. The rooms spacious and clean. The staff was incredibly friendly. The included breakfast every morning was a wonderful way to get the day started of correctly. The first night we were there, aurora activity was forecasted and the front desk was kind enough to give us a wake up call and we were able to see the aurora just outside the hotel. Given that fairbanks is not that sprawling, driving to the various sightseeing locations from this hotel was easy as well.

The hotel was average. One rude staff member ruined their rating. The website says that they offer free shuttles, but that wasn\'t the case. We were denied a shuttle despite being told the evening before that it would be avaliable, and told to "just get an Uber". Once we arrived at our tour start destination via Uber, a Pikes shuttle pulled in a few minutes later with people from our hotel. I don\'t appreciate the wasted money they caused.

Unfortunately what could have been a nice stay missed the mark. I booked this one night stay because they had a sauna steam room and also because they mentioned a special northern lights wake up call in which they will let you know if the aurora is out. However, the sauna/steam room was closed during our visit. While I understand things like that happen, failing to mention it on the website or when we called to book that day feels like poor communication at best and it would have been nice to have known that before booking (we booked same day so it wasn’t unknown at the time of booking). As for the northern lights wake up call, we never got one. A guest in line at breakfast informed me about her experience watching them after her wake up call so maybe they just forgot me? To top it all off, while I appreciate the fact that they can accommodate dogs, our room was right next to a laundry room and we heard a lot of noise, doors slamming all night which kept waking said dogs and us up. The washer or dryer running would literally shake the wall and headboard intermittently throughout the night. Overall, this location and property had a lot of potential but missed the mark.

We had a great time in Alaska Feb 2025. Pike’s was convenient to the airport and all of our excursions picked up from Pike’s. The hotel was clean and had a great restaurant next door. There were fun things to do around the property.

Remote location, cannot walk to tourist spots

Everything here was convenient, from the shuttle to and from airport to on site rent a car. Which did come in handy as I did not come in with the thought of even renting a car. I learned that when I rented a taxi to go to the museum. By the time I paid for the taxi and a tip I could’ve just rented a car. I ended up renting a car for 24 hours and I did a trip down to the north pole and did some hiking around the area , if you want to explore the Fairbanks area on your own it’s not walkable from Pikes. I ended up staying in the Aurora side cabins. I had a wonderful trip thank you.

Great place to hang out in Fairbanks. Older place, but kept up very well! Really close to the airport makes it easy run folks to and from there.

Great place near the airport. Shuttle to/from airport and to/from train station. Room was clean and spacious, bed comfortable. Third floor rear rooms have small terrace and river view. Very quiet and I felt safe traveling alone. Shuttle drivers were excellent, efficient and informative. Breakfast was excellent. (Just expensive in July)

Great staff, great airport shuttle, great room, plenty to eat fort breakfast. What's not to like.

Our stay was truly wonderful! The staff was warm, friendly, and attentive, making us feel right at home from the moment we arrived. We absolutely loved how the hotel embraced Alaskan history throughout the decor, rooms, and overall atmosphere, with stories of legendary individuals who made history in Alaska on doorways of the rooms. It felt authentic and deeply meaningful, especially as Alaskans ourselves. The little touches made the experience even more special: the $1.50 ice cream bars in the evening were a delightful treat, and the bar and lounge area was incredibly inviting, with cozy seating, a welcoming fireplace, and a nice selection of games. It’s the perfect spot for a relaxing evening nightcap. We love that one of our favorite restaurants, Pike's Landing is right next door - great food and service! Our room even included a balcony, which we greatly appreciated, even if the -20°F temperatures kept us happily indoors! As locals visiting family in Fairbanks, we were so pleased that the hotel felt genuine and not overly tourist-oriented. It struck just the right balance. We’ll most certainly be returning on our next trip, thank you for a memorable stay!

Excellent location, restaurant was out of commission due to a fire, but did have a breakfast buffet, and limited menu from the kitchen in the hotel.

Bed was comfortable. Dining options available on site, although pretty pricey. $18 for a bowl of soup is pretty steeped. Lots of on site things to do.

We were disappointed with the shuttle service upon arrival from the railway depot to the hotel as we waited over an hour to be brought to the hotel. Drinks at the bar were uninspired. Breakfast was in a beautiful room, but food was likewise mediocre. Best feature of our stay was the Aurora theater where we saw an excellent video on the Northern Lights and were also able to shoot a game of pool. Also, our Fireside Cabin was pretty cool.
