Downtown Suites by Athens Tower earns praise for its ultra-central Monastiraki/Ermou location and modern, generally clean rooms, with many guests finding staff friendly and helpful, though recurring access quirks mean the experience isn’t entirely seamless.
Guests repeatedly note that check-in is self-service with reception and breakfast at the sister Athens Tower, and the elevator starts above street level, requiring stairs that can be difficult with heavy bags. Breakfast and the rooftop bar at Athens Tower receive praise, while Wi‑Fi quality is mixed and a few report insects. Expect a central, no-frills base with great walkability and vibrant surroundings that can be noisy at night.

Facilities
The elevator does not reach the ground floor, so guests must use stairs, which some find challenging with luggage. The rooftop bar/restaurant at the sister Athens Tower is a highlight; a few mention dim stairwells or the entry door left ajar.

Staff were very kind and helpful. Room was good. Problem was you had to carry your bags up two flights of stairs with no handrails to reach the elevator. Also had to drag bags two blocks to check in at the sister property. Too difficult for seniors. Great location. Food and markets nearby

Hotel was in a great location and gave access to a buffet breakfast at their sister location. Only complaint was the elevator did not allow access from the ground floor.

We stay in downtown suite the day before our cruise. The room is clean. The employees are very nice, courteous and friendly. Petros even walked us to our location which is around the corner from the main Hotel. He helped us and carry out luggage all the way to our room. Petros is amazing. We asked the front desk on recommendation where to eat locals and she recommended a really good places to eat. We also ate dinner at the rooftop above the main hotel. Amazing view of the Acropolis and surrounding area. Food is good, do make reservation if not good luck in trying to get seating. The downtown suite is closed to the flea market and all the shipping. I would definitely recommend to stay here and when we come back I would definitely stay here again.

The location was amazing if you’re only in Athens a short time. You can walk to all the shopping and dining, and walk to the Parthenon. The room was very nice- small but nice. Staff was very responsive and accommodating. We did have to carry our luggage up a lot of stairs which was not easy, but otherwise a positive experience.

Located in the middle of shopping area which was very good. Room was clean however do not stay there if you’re not willing to carry luggage 6 flights of stairs. Messaged the hotel but they replied saying they would send someone to fix it which they did not. There were also no lights on the stairway which is painted black so be careful. I used my flashlight on my phone to light the way.

This little self-service hotel is less than 10 mins walk from Syntagma bus station (Metro as well). It is middle of busy street but if you like action, this is the place. And everything was closed by. We walked everywhere you can imagine. It is safe (???) and many shops and restaurant nearby. Communication with hotel stuff is excellent! If you have any issues going up the stairs or you are an older personal, this may not be suitable for you. Elevator is available but you may go up on the stairs for about 20 and plus then elevator is there. We took a room with balcony, you must have that room. Room seems like has been update not long ago. Safety box available but it was bolted in...lol Your complimentary breakfast is available at the different location and less than a minute walk. I just love this place very much. I would like to return when I visit Athen again.

You need to take 2 lefts and a right out of Athens Tower Hotel which has the view of the Acropolis to get to Downtown Suites by Athens Tower after you check in to get your pin numbers for the door to the hotel and your room. For the free breakfast buffet which was very good but not available until 8am you have to walk back to Athens Tower. We found this a little inconvenient and time consuming over the week. We also were a little concerned as there was no reception desk in the Downtown Suites and the external door was always being left wide open. As the door is on an alleyway this also was concerning. Wifi is poor. The room is small and the bed and shower uncomfortable. That being said, it is well situated within 2 min walk to Monastraki Square and lots of restaurants and shops.

I stayed at Down Town Suites by Athens Tower Hotel and had a mixed experience. Location and Surroundings: The hotel's location at the end of Ermou Street is convenient, but the area is extremely loud and crowded. Noise disrupted my sleep for two nights due to homeless individuals outside, one of whom caused loud arguments and made me feel unsafe. Response to Noise Complaint: When I called to complain, the staff promptly intervened but the noise escalated the second night with shouting and banging, heightening safety concerns. Accessibility and Room Condition: The newly renovated hotel was nice, but the elevator not stopping on the ground floor was inconvenient. I woke up with mosquito bites despite repellent. Service and Security: The front desk was helpful, but the smart technology setup made me uncertain about emergency contacts. Check-in details were not sent in advance, and lack of visible security added to feeling unsafe. Tips for Future Guests: Hotel entrance is in an alleyway off Ermou Street, in the building with the Toi & Moi store. Overall Impression: While the renovated rooms and responsive staff were positives, noise, accessibility issues, and safety concerns impacted my stay. Improved security and communication would enhance guest experience.

Check in was difficult as we did not receive the code to get in on time. Bathroom fan was leaking right onto the toilet so could not use is without getting wet, this also made the floor slippery and dangerous. Many stairs to get your luggage up so would not be ideal for anyone older or with any disability. It was located in a very convenient area, handy to everything.

The good: service and the check-in people are amazing, location is right next to subway and Monastiraki square. Good space in room and convenience of electronic passcode made it so no need to remember where key is. The bad: I got around 10 bed bug bites after sleeping here. I still gave it 3 stars because none of the bites ended up being serious or scratchy so I was able to mostly ignore them. More bads: no shower door so water gets on floor easily, no reception for building so can feel scary entering at night since there are homeless people laying on the floor across entrance as you type in a passcode, and the rooms start on the 3rd floor in the building even though they start with the number 1 and the elevator starts on 2nd floor, so be prepared for a decent amount of stairs every time and some pain for heavier luggage.

Good shower, the bed was too hard for my taste, the room looks modern, but cold overall. I was in 203 and my room was very dark during the day, as I just had a view to the neighbourbuilding which was very close. It can also be very noisy there drom outside. You need to check-in in another Hotel around the corner, the staff there was very nice. Unfortunately some things that were not the best: light in bathroom, one lamp was not working, and even with, still not the best light in there. Not a lot of space next to the sink and no toiletpaperholder. Also I had nothing to hang at my door that said please don't disturb which was very annoying to got waken up daily by housekeeping. Also can get noisy in the Hotel as there are no carpets in the Hallway to the rooms, you hear everything from outside when people come and go, whst they talk, when they enter their codes to get in their room...

I didn't know this was a "self serve" hotel. They send you the main door code and your room code when you check in. Pros: room is clean, can't hear outside noise. Cons: No elevators from main floor to 1st floor, elevator starts from 2nd level so you have to carry heavy luggages thru stairs. No reception, so if you need anything you need to text them and even of you text them they either don't answer or don't get you what you need (example: hair dryer stopped working after 5 mins, i never got another one even when requested multiple times, asked for towels and they couldn't bring towels, one time they cleaned and forgot to put another toilet paper). Breakfast is from 7:30-10:30 but is in another building which is like 3-4 mins away around the corner. I thought I paid for room with balcony but i got no balcony and my view was a scary building on the side. Hotel is good for people who don't have many heavy luggages and you don't need anything from reception. Outside area is busy and there are many homeless but is convenient to get to all good spots and restaurants.

I enjoyed my stay. However, I did a lot of research on this place and nowhere did I see that it didn’t have a hotel reception. So the main hotel, which is Athens Tower is a few steps around the corner away from the downtown suites. If you need anything, need the receptionist, or even your free breakfast it’s all located at the Athens Tower hotel. The downtown suites is more like a condo with just the rooms. I didn’t have an issue with this, but if I had known prior to booking, I might not have booked this hotel because I was traveling by myself, and I really wanted to stay somewhere where there was a receptionist And lobby. But I have no complaints and I did enjoy my stay. The water pressure was great. The AC worked great. I love that they had codes for the main entrance and your own door so you don’t have to carry around a key. But the most incredible part of this day was how walkable it was to everything. The only time I caught a taxi was when I was picked up from the airport and being dropped off to the ferry. Besides that I walked everywhere for three days and it was absolutely amazing. Chris and Angelina were also phenomenal. They are gems to the business. My driver, Andres was also great. Punctual, kind, and helpful

Excellent location, a couple of minutes away from the Monastiraki metro station. Very tasteful room, spacious and cozy and everything looked quite new. Very comfortable mattress. The reception staff, Christos and Nikoletta, were very helpful with their suggestions for restaurants and bars in the area.

Location
Exceptionally central near Monastiraki/Ermou with easy access to metro, dining, shopping, and major sights. The lively setting can be noisy, and the alley entrance feels less comfortable to some.

Check in is online, location is right at the Monstariki Square where hop on and off bus stops and so is the train station. Lots of shopping and rooftop options with a view of the Acropolis. New amenities albeit the lift is functional from the 1st floor so if you’re bringing big luggage it’s a little struggle. Has aircon and rooms are serviced daily. It can get a little noisy at night.

Dining
Breakfast at the sister Athens Tower is frequently praised and the rooftop bar/restaurant offers great views. A few guests faced access or quality issues, and note that dining is offsite.

Very convenient location, right in the center of Athens. 2 min walk to the metro station (however not very convenient location if you really need to have a car). Excellent condition and value for money. Very friendly personnel. Good breakfast. It was the first time ever I have been called by a hotel before arrival to let me know that the room was available much earlier than the standard check-in time, just in case I was around! Highly recommended, looking forward to book again.

We didn't know there were stairs to get to our room nor did we know that our room was in another building. This created a problem for us as my husband is physically challenged with a cane. Breakfast buffet was not great - stale breads and pastries.

We enjoyed our stay overall and found the location to be one of the biggest advantages. It’s right in the heart of Athens, making it easy to walk to restaurants, shopping, and many of the major attractions. The room itself was clean, modern, and surprisingly spacious, which made for a comfortable stay. One thing to be aware of is that while there is an elevator, you’ll still need to carry your luggage up several flights of stairs before reaching it. The only confusing part of our experience was check-in. The office is at a different location from the actual room, so we had to haul our luggage back and forth, which wasn’t ideal after traveling. Also, because the property is so centrally located, it can be quite noisy on weekend nights. We stayed on a Friday, and the street noise continued until around 3:00 a.m., so light sleepers may want to bring earplugs. If you’re looking for a clean, spacious place in an excellent location and don’t mind a little noise for the convenience of being in the center of everything, this is a solid choice.
