First of all, we pulled into the drive way and there was a deer right next to the drive way. How exciting! Then the next morning there was a deer outside the bedroom window. I couldn't believe it! Secondly, the vrbo owner is the BEST! He truly cares about the amenities/accomodations of the house and wanted our stay to be as easy as possible. His guest book has everything in detail on where to eat and close by trails! This was the easiest vacation I have ever been on because everything i needed was in the house! Speaking of the house - where do I begin! FIRST CLASS - all around! Bedrooms - HUGE! Great closest space and orgainized shelving! The walk in shower - HUGE! I love to eat and prepare my own food - this kitchen had everything I needed! Even olive oil to cook with! If you like coffee - there was even a Keurig coffee maker with FREE coffee as well! I adored the screened in porch as we ate there for all of our meals and watched the baby deer one morning for breakfast! I would live in this house which is something I have never said in any of the vacation homes I have been in. Even a mudroom! Oh and lastly - the privacy. If you are looking for a private getaway this house, as it sits off the road and NO neighbors! PERFECT place to disconnect and get CLOSE to nature!

This house is very much more than advertised. Michael gave us a tour of the house which gave us a sense of what was available and where everything was located. The kitchen was well provided - not that we used it very much - we were out most of the days and got meal while we were running around. Everyone was impressed with the house and pleased that we Michael would share it with us. Thanks Michael.

Absolutely Perfect Stay!Our stay at this cabin could not have been more perfect. The location was stunning, peaceful, scenic, and close to everything we wanted to do. And a major bonus were the deer that visited the yard every day! The cabin itself was beautifully maintained and thoughtfully outfitted with absolutely everything you could possibly need. Every detail had been considered, from the fully equipped kitchen to the cozy touches that made it feel like home.Michael was an outstanding host. He met us personally at check-in, gave us a warm welcome, and took the time to walk us through the property and share great local recommendations for activities and restaurants. What a wonderful, beautiful place to spend time with family. Everything was laid out perfectly, and the attention to detail was meticulous. The owner was attentive to our needs, and gave us a tour of the house and history of the area before we settled in. The backyard swing allowed our older teen and young adult child to play. We were super close to White Oak Canyon Trail, and old rag as well as Graves Mountain Lodge, which we hit on the way out for a delicious breakfast. Beds were cozy, adult coloring books and games provided entertainment and kitchen was stocked for all our cooking needs. We will be back!

We spent a peaceful (if rainy!) week here to celebrate our wedding anniversary. This home is beautiful, bright, very clean and comfortable. This was by far the best appointed kitchen of any rental in which we have stayed (and we have used VRBO for many years on multiple continents). Highly recommend this home!

This home is immaculately clean, has many upgrades, is very comfortable and includes many amenities! Kitchen is fantastic! Host is friendly and has great attention to detail. Location was very convenient for excellent hiking, winery, tours, horseback riding, etc. this is a great stay!

It is difficult to completely convey how much we loved our stay. This is a secluded home at the end of a long driveway on a 30 acre lot - absolutely no street noise - in fact crazy quiet. The house was modern, relatively new construction and super clean. Hardwood and concrete floors are so much better than carpet. The kitchen had exceptionally modern appliances. The refrigerator was clean as a whistle. Plenty of pots, pans, silverware cutlery, you name it - we didn't need to bring anything. Plenty of paper towels, toilet paper, bath towels. The water was delicious. Hot water was plentiful. Bathrooms were amazingly clean. The property was extremely close to Old Rag (about 30 minutes) and the White Oak/Cedar run lower trailhead (15 minutes) - way better than the upper trailhead off SkylineDrive. Most other hikes off Skyline Drive are about an hour away along gorgeous winding rural roads with beautiful farms. I agree with the owners assessment that cell service is terrible but we did great with the satellite Wifi device - easy wifi calling, txt, emails, news etc. The backup generator actually worked during a very brief outage. We brought our own food so did not need a grocery although we passed several big stores (including an enormous Amish market) and gas stations along the way to Skyline Drive. I've never had a Vrbo host actually meet me in person upon arrival. This made us feel comfortable knowing she was within reach. Hands down the best Vrbo ever!

I have stayed in many VRBO rentals. All of them were good in some ways and not in others. This was the best in all categories. The property is perfect for those who want privacy. The furnishings are comfortable and plentiful. There are outlets in all the right places. The lighting was soft, inviting and customizable. For someone who cooks and never eats out, the kitchen was very well equipped and with quality pots/pans, silverware, sharp knives, etc. Michael was a super great host and very communicative.

This property is just what the doctor ordered! It had all of the important things covered, cleanliness, convenience, comfort, etc.. What sets this property apart from the others is the feeling of tranquility you get while staying there. The property is very private and the area around it provides excellent outdoor activities. Hiking trails abound nearby and are easy to get to. For a more challenging experience ask Michael about 4x4 trails in the area. Michael is a wealth of information about the area and is an excellent ambassador for it. I will definitely be staying here again!

the house is absolutely terrific. it is extremely well kept, fully stocked, well appointed and comfortable. the grounds are beautiful and there is a peacefulness to the whole place. there were several hikes close by so the location is great. would stay there again in a heartbeat.

We wanted to visit this area and we found this gem contemporary cabin to stay at while we hiked and enjoyed some of the best Virginia state has to offer. The accommodations were everything we wanted: clean, modern, spacious, easy, very well furnished and great attention to detail to make our stay comfortable, enjoyable, restful and easy. We stayed four nights over Memorial Day weekend. We usually get homesick for our own bed after two nights, but not this time. The bed was very comfortable. Everything was clean and the stay was refreshing and restful. We hiked and explored the Luray Caverns and local restaurants and vineyards and it was always a pleasure to return to the Hideaway at day’s end for a quiet night to rest. Our host Michael was so very accommodating and hospitable and made us all feel secure and informed for our stay exploring and enjoying the area. There was nothing we wanted for during the stay. We look forward to another stay at the Hideaway in Syria, VA for our next exploratory visit to the Shenandoah Park and adjacent areas. We highly recommend this place and Michael the host.

We stayed four nights over Memorial Day weekend. We usually get homesick for our own bed after two nights, but not this time. The bed was very comfortable. Everything was clean and the stay was refreshing and restful. We hiked and explored the Luray Caverns and local restaurants and vineyards and it was always a pleasure to return to the Hideaway at day’s end for a quiet night to rest. Our host Michael was so very accommodating and hospitable and made us all feel secure and informed for our stay exploring and enjoying the area. There was nothing we wanted for during the stay. We look forward to another stay at the Hideaway in Syria, VA for our next exploratory visit to the Shenandoah Park and adjacent areas. We highly recommend this place and Michael the host.

Very beautiful architected home with superb artwork, furnishing and views. The property is lovely and extremely private, and it's very close to some of the best hiking in Shenandoah National Park. Our host Michael was very complete in his communication, and everything went smoothly. We really enjoyed our stay and would love to return.

We spent a peaceful (if rainy!) week here to celebrate our wedding anniversary. This home is beautiful, bright, very clean and comfortable. This was by far the best appointed kitchen of any rental in which we have stayed (and we have used VRBO for many years on multiple continents). Highly recommend this home!

It is difficult to completely convey how much we loved our stay. This is a secluded home at the end of a long driveway on a 30 acre lot - absolutely no street noise - in fact crazy quiet. The house was modern, relatively new construction and super clean. Hardwood and concrete floors are so much better than carpet. The kitchen had exceptionally modern appliances. The refrigerator was clean as a whistle. Plenty of pots, pans, silverware cutlery, you name it - we didn't need to bring anything. Plenty of paper towels, toilet paper, bath towels. The water was delicious. Hot water was plentiful. Bathrooms were amazingly clean. The property was extremely close to Old Rag (about 30 minutes) and the White Oak/Cedar run lower trailhead (15 minutes) - way better than the upper trailhead off SkylineDrive. Most other hikes off Skyline Drive are about an hour away along gorgeous winding rural roads with beautiful farms. I agree with the owners assessment that cell service is terrible but we did great with the satellite Wifi device - easy wifi calling, txt, emails, news etc. The backup generator actually worked during a very brief outage. We brought our own food so did not need a grocery although we passed several big stores (including an enormous Amish market) and gas stations along the way to Skyline Drive. I've never had a Vrbo host actually meet me in person upon arrival. This made us feel comfortable knowing she was within reach. Hands down the best Vrbo ever!

What sets this property apart from the others is the feeling of tranquility you get while staying there. The property is very private and the area around it provides excellent outdoor activities. This house is very much more than advertised. Michael gave us a tour of the house which gave us a sense of what was available and where everything was located. The kitchen was well provided - not that we used it very much - we were out most of the days and got meal while we were running around. What a wonderful, beautiful place to spend time with family. Everything was laid out perfectly, and the attention to detail was meticulous. The owner was attentive to our needs, and gave us a tour of the house and history of the area before we settled in. The backyard swing allowed our older teen and young adult child to play. We were super close to White Oak Canyon Trail, and old rag as well as Graves Mountain Lodge, which we hit on the way out for a delicious breakfast. Beds were cozy, adult coloring books and games provided entertainment and kitchen was stocked for all our cooking needs. We will be back!

We just loved this beautiful home and the private setting. Most days we had deer and their fawns come eat from the apple tree while we enjoyed the screened porch. The home had every amenity we could hope for and it was beautifully decorated. The owners were wonderful and supportive even though our travel plans got rerouted several times due to airline mishaps. Supplies and a nice restaurant were 5 minutes away and more extensive choices were only 20 minutes away in Madison. But we especially enjoyed the easy access to Shenandoah National Park.

Fantastic location, fantastic house. Our second time staying here, but definitely not our last. Visited a couple of local breweries, went antique shopping, climbed Old Rag, enjoyed sitting on the deck and reading. Highly recommend!

The Contemporary Cabin was absolutely gorgeous! It is situated in the perfect quiet spot close to many hiking trails. It was well stocked with essentials and was a super comfortable stay. Would highly recommend and would love to visit again
