We stayed in late Oct 2024. Cabin is older, but very clean. Was a bit chilly in the main room in the evenings (temps in low to mid 40’s); the heaters seemed to have some trouble keeping up. There is a wood burning fireplace in the main room which would have helped, I’m sure, but we were just there in the evenings and didn’t go to the trouble to build a fire. There is an electric fireplace in the bedroom, so it stayed adequately warm at night. The views were beautiful of the sunrises on Lake Michigan. We were completely charmed by the peninsula, and it was easy as ne quick to get to everything there—both sides of the peninsula. The falll colors, although a little past peak, were still just beautiful in so many places. We loved that restaurants were not chain stuff and were locally owned. All in all we were very pleased with the cabin and the area. Just we’re a little cold on the coldest night we were there.

Our second stay at the cottage and we still love it! We stayed for 5 days during 90 plus temps, no air conditioning but was supplied with plenty of fans to keep the cottage comfortable. Also, lake breezes cooled the cottage down at night for a good night sleep. Every thing is as described, very quiet and relaxing!

easy check-in. We arrived 50 minutes early, telephoned the owners, and had access updated. Kitchen is rustic but workable. We brought meals we'd prepared at home and were able to heat them up, serve and enjoy, and clean up easily.

This is a truly rustic getaway with the highlight being the amazing view of the sunrise on Lake Michigan every morning. A nice, quiet location but a short drive to Cave Point Park for a great walk. The cabin is older but has a lot of charm and some nice updates. I felt it could use a few more lamps in the living room - overhead lighting is harsh and not conducive to an evening in front of the fire. It got chilly at night and we had trouble with the heating but the owners responded right away and had someone there to help us out very quickly. It was still chilly so a few extra blankets or throws would have been nice. We could have used a manual or instructions for the property -- didn't get one until the night before checking out. While I loved the amazing view in the backyard, I was surprised to find the back stoop in disrepair and the yard very uneven, full of rocks and roots so tread carefully - but it's worth it to get to the stairs that take you down to the rocky shore, a lovely spot to sit and enjoy a cup of coffee (the Door County blend they provided was delicious) while listening to the waves.

Our biggest complaint is the photos shown for this property, which are misleading at best, bordering on deceptive. The photos are obviously very old, as the yard looks nothing like the photos. It is completely overgrown with weeds, bushes and trees, to the point that you can’t even easily get in and out of your vehicle without getting slapped by branches and weeds. You also can’t use the yard for anything because it is so overgrown. The lake views shown in the photos don’t exist due to the overgrown yard, and although the photos make it look like you can go to the beach, you can’t, because the stairs don’t access the beach, they are boarded off at a landing. The bathroom also looks nothing like the photos, because the shower and toilet are completely brown from the iron in the water. You don’t even feel clean when you are done showering because there is no water softener and it smells. We understand that well water does that, but a softener would go a long way. ALSO, this place desperately needs some kind of air conditioning. It was so hot when we got there, and it was so humid outside that opening the windows made the floor so wet that you literally left footprints wherever you went. The front door needs a motion light so when you get back at dark, you can see the key pad. The key pad also doesn’t work on the first try, it took at least two tries every time, which was hard in the dark. The owners were very kind and readily available if needed, so no issues there.

We loved staying at this property. We had a cold and rainy weekend, but the house was so cozy and the wood burning fireplace was lovely. I was most impressed with the ease of checking in and out, there weren’t any demands for cleaning!

My husband and I loved this location — the location is beautiful and tucked away, but still not too far from good food, fun sightseeing, and any other necessities! The breeze off of the lake was perfect for keeping us cool all day and the fireplaces kept us perfectly warm in the evenings:) We had a blast!

It’s located right on the lake and there are stairs you can use to go right down on the shoreline. Sunrises are amazing from that vantage point! The cottage itself is what you would expect from an older structure: cracks and crannies everywhere that allow spiders and mice to come and visit. We found mouse droppings in drawers and spiders/spider webs everywhere. If you’re wanting a five star type location that is perfectly clean, this isn’t for you. It’s rustic and in need of some repairs/upkeep. That wouldn’t keep us away, but it might be a deal breaker for some. The kitchen is not well stocked with cooking supplies, so if you plan to bring food in to create your own meals, you might want to skip this location. The kitchen is very small as well. There were bugs hovering around the sink/garbage area when we arrived and they stayed the entire time. Heating is baseboard heaters and they don’t do the best warming the place up. There was one sheet and one thin blanket on the bed making it hard to sleep. We woke up shivering in the middle of the night and there aren’t any other blankets in the cottage to use. Bring your own if you want to be warm! Overall, we really did enjoy the cottage (the inconveniences I mention aren’t enough to keep us away, but it might be a deal breaker for others). If you want quiet and rustic, this is a great option!

Pictures of the shower online were not accurate. Shower had stains all over from the hard water.The water had a bad smell and taste. Place was barely insulated, very cold at night. Small electric heater didn’t heat well. Had to have a fire every night to stay warm. Leaves all over the yard and overgrown trees/landscape. However, location was a secure spot and lake view was beautiful.

Coupled with the lake breeze and sound of waves through the open windows, there isn’t a better way to enjoy Lake Michigan! The location felt private, as it was off the beaten path in the woods. There are neighbors on both sides, but the property still felt secluded. The beach access at the bottom of the stairs is just for you, not the neighbors! The cabin was very clean which is a must for us. The shower/toilet were spotless and the couch and bed were super comfortable. The hosts are great, and we didn’t have any issues! The only advice to future guests would be to bring some bottled waters if you’re not a fan of groundwater. The temperature was good throughout our stay. No AC as stated in the description, but with the wood structure and multiple windows and fans, it stayed perfectly comfortable. We might have to come back in the winter. I would imagine it would be extra cozy with the two fireplaces and the silence of the snow. In summary, we have nothing but good things to report! Book this place if you’re looking for friendly and reachable hosts, cozy cabin ambience, breathtaking views, and central location to the activities Door County offers.

The cabin was so clean, very cozy and absolutely gorgeous property! We enjoyed the peaceful waves and beautiful view of the stars and Northern Lights!

We could hear and see the waves, so peaceful! Quaint well kept cabin was just what we needed. Lots of book to read while the cool lake breezes kept the bugs away and the temperature comfortable. Secluded but close to everything.

My boyfriend and I booked this for his birthday weekend. It was so cozy and perfect for the first cool weekend of fall! Such a great, quiet location right on the water. The cabin was clean and comfortable and access to the water was amazing. The electric fireplace in the bedroom was very convenient and we took advantage of the real fireplace in the living room at night. Highly recommend this spot.

This location is wonderful. Its peaceful right by the water and a great location to get around door county. It has a nice older feel to the inside with that old time feeling. We would definitely stay again. Only complaint was that the cleaning wasnt great for the price you pay for it. We found already chewed gum next to the fireplace and very dusty and sandy under the night stand by bed. Otherwise this place was great.

This cabin was the perfect getaway. Beautiful view of Lake Michigan, went to sleep each night with waves crashing onshore —could’ve asked for more.

My husband and I enjoyed our stay in this cabin. The scenery was beautiful, when you woke up you got a wonderful view of the sunrise from the master bed. It was a little cold when we got there, but the heater worked well and it wasn’t cold anymore. If you are planing on using their wonderful fireplace, just plan on bringing your own wood and kindling, since it’s not provided by the owners. There isn’t a whole lot to do in Jacksonport, but it’s not a very long drive to anything. Overall, great location for a couples getaway :)

What an amazing cabin in an amazing location! The property was as described(lol maybe better) and fit our needs perfectly!! Close access to all Door County has to offer. The host was VERY responsive! The bed was amazingly comfortable, linens top quality, furniture nice….in a nutshell it wasn’t lacking a thing!! The best part was hearing the waves of Lake Michigan crash on the shore line and feeling the breeze. I would love to stay at this property again!!

My husband and I loved staying here! The rustic place was so nice to come to after our wedding to get away and relax. The view from the stairs leading down to the water is beautiful. There are plenty of windows to open the cabin up and let the sunshine and fresh air in. The fireplaces kept us warm and cozy at night. The architecture and features within the cabin are so unique and charming. The only thing I will say is the bed was a little tough to sleep on. Other than that, we had a wonderful stay and would recommend it to anyone coming to visit door county.

This is a nice property over all. Just rustic enough. The neighbors are quite close though, and the barking dogs do get bothersome. Aside from the water heater not working the morning of our final stay, and a rather snooty text message from the owners, everything worked as it should. There should definitely be a manual or labels on all the lights. I did not receive the digital manual till the last night of our stay when it was emailed with checkout instructions. The only thing that will prevent my girlfriend and I from returning was the mattress. A memory foam mattress combined with the cheapest hotel surplus poly-fill pillows resulted in stiff necks, very uncomfortable sleep, and a near impossible graceful dismount from the bed for my rather large self. A standard mattress would have been much nicer. The property is nice, but I will be doing much more research on the mattress accommodations in the future.

We appreciated being able to stay there for a week. We liked the location by the water and a little traveled, wooded road. Our main challenges was with the water. Numerous times we were without water and was hesitant to use the nice fireplace in bedroom out of concern for overloading the electrical system. DOCO vacations was responsive in arranging for breaker in electrical box to be replaced and for well pump to be replaced. Enjoyed time with Bob and Terry.

We made a fire inside as well as outside in the fire pit, and we spent lots time enjoying the day down on the rocks. The kitchen was quite small, but had most everything we needed.

The best part of this property is its location! It’s on a quiet road just outside of town, away from all the crowds. It’s located right on the lake and there are stairs you can use to go right down on the shoreline. Sunrises are amazing from that vantage point! The cottage itself is what you would expect from an older structure: cracks and crannies everywhere that allow spiders and mice to come and visit. We found mouse droppings in drawers and spiders/spider webs everywhere. If you’re wanting a five star type location that is perfectly clean, this isn’t for you. It’s rustic and in need of some repairs/upkeep. That wouldn’t keep us away, but it might be a deal breaker for some. The kitchen is not well stocked with cooking supplies, so if you plan to bring food in to create your own meals, you might want to skip this location. The kitchen is very small as well. There were bugs hovering around the sink/garbage area when we arrived and they stayed the entire time. Heating is baseboard heaters and they don’t do the best warming the place up. There was one sheet and one thin blanket on the bed making it hard to sleep. We woke up shivering in the middle of the night and there aren’t any other blankets in the cottage to use. Bring your own if you want to be warm! Overall, we really did enjoy the cottage (the inconveniences I mention aren’t enough to keep us away, but it might be a deal breaker for others). If you want quiet and rustic, this is a great option!

We enjoted our stay. We didnt spend a lot of time at the cottage but it was juat as described. Nice bed, bathroom and shower. Location was perfect, about 20 minutes from anywhere on the peninsula. We enjoyed the ferry to Washington Island for tourist stuff. We highly recommend Grizzly Tours scenic airplane ride. Dave is very proud oand knowledgeable about the peninsula and its history, bonus he lives in the Jacksonport area. Very much enjoyed the local Mikes Porter Pub just down the road.
