Stayed 2 nights

Our first impression of the Quaker Inn was to wonder how people get upstairs with a full size suitcase. We only had small suitcases because we were only staying 2 nights. The gentleman was kind in carrying it up . Along with that there was only a small conditioning unit in the bedroom. It did not cool down the very very small sitting room outside the bedroom nor the bathroom. There were 2 chairs in the sitting room but you couldn't put your suitcase on them to open in. You had to get on the floor to open them because there was no room in the bedroom. For paying 340.00 per night we were very disappointed. We were so uncomfortable that we left the following morning and forfeited the 340.00 for the second night. While the porch was pleasant looking, the chairs were rock hard with cheap cushions that were not comfortable. Will not return for sure.

Nice. The location, just a block or so from the beach and boardwalk, is excellent. The staff, especially Jerry, is great; in addition to providing free beach chairs, beach towels, beach umbrellas and boogie boards, coffee, tea and water in the lobby around the clock, Jerry lent us a bike pump and bike lock when we forgot ours. Bike rack in front. Easy access at all hours with code. The selection of restaurants, coffee shops, ice cream shops and bakeries on the same side street, is impressive. The hotel itself is older, has no elevator, and the stairs are narrow, but Jerry offered to carry our luggage up to our third-floor room; we didn't need the help but others might. No central air, but the window unit keeps it cool or even cold, and it was a hot and sunny on Labor Day weekend. The bed wasn't great, only a double was available (the room might fit a queen but it would be tight) and the mattress was less than ideal in terms of support but it wasn't too uncomfortable. Not great sound proofing. Two third-floor patios were nice for reading, as were the rocking chairs on the large, shaded front porch. Mini-fridge in the room. Common-area kitchen had china, glassware and flatware, which I love because I hate using plastic anymore than absolutely necessary. Bottled water and sodas in the lobby are cheap. We were able to park on the street right in front of the hotel for free; not guaranteed but there was a fair amount of free parking on one of the busiest weekends of the season.
