Would not call this a lodge. There was no “service” for the room. There is no “desk” for check in or out so don’t bother to try and check in early or anything like that. They send a code that will work after 3:00 on arrival and expires 11:00 on day of departure. No common area, complementary coffee, vending, ice machines or laundry area.

Property is away from downtown so you need a vehicle of some type. Beautiful view…nice room…contactless transaction, so that is a little off putting if you need to speak to someone. We had no issues, except for parking on a night when they had a wedding reception at the adjacent event center…was also a little loud that evening. All in all I would stay again and would recommend it !

Stayed two nights. Our room was on the second floor. No elevator so we had to carry our suitcases up a long flight of stairs. Grounds are primarily a giant gravel pit. Dirt roads in and out with large pot holes. Overall the room was “clean” if you ignore two things: 1. The shower curtain is stained and looks like it hasn’t been changed in a month. See attached picture. 2. Because of all the dirt outside, the floor inside is dirty. This place is perfect if: 1. You can carry your luggage up stairs 2. You don’t mind the parking lot dirt road and pot holes 3. You don’t mind not being able to adjust the thermostat. It’s locked out. 4. You don’t mind stained shower curtains. 5. You don’t mind not having a GFCI outlet next to the kitchen sink.

This property is very new. It seems that things are still being worked on and hopefully improved upon. Nothing major but the parking lot has high sides with drop offs and was confusing how to enter and exit the property.

Self check-in and an espresso stand on-site was really nice and convenient. Staff (including doggos) were friendly. The walls were quite thin and the doors kind of slam shut, but luckily everyone was quiet after about 9:30pm.

No lamps in hotel room - only overhead light For one of the two buildings, parking is limited to one side of the building. Gravel parking lot will damage roller wheels on suitcases. Lastly, the edge of the bed had not been properly cleaned. There was dust and debris under the edges of bed.

The rooms were very clean and modern, and very spacious as well! It was a convenient location, close to the port where our day cruises were leaving from and also the park entrance to Exit Glacier. Self check-in was smooth and clear instructions were provided. I would highly recommend staying in this wonderful place if you are planning a trip to Seward.

It was mostly clean but there was pee in the toilet when I checked in. Not the cleanest sheets and there was some hair left around. The bed was not supportive so the center sunk down pretty far. It was an ok place but nothing excellent. I did like the check in process though.

Very spacious and clean room, with easy self check-in. Plenty of parking and many things to do close by - exit glacier and downtown Seward were quick drives away. We enjoyed our stay thoroughly and would definitely stay again.

Of the three hotels we've stayed in within the Bear Creek neighborhood just north of Seward, this one was the best. The room was the largest and quietest. It included an electronic-heating faux fireplace; a kitchen table with seating; and a kitchenette with sink, plates, silverware and some pans, and a large refrigerator (but no stove). The beds had the best comforters of our travels. It is true that our room was hard to find in the complex (pale numbering not in the normal sequence; lack of clear signage), the complex's road are unfinished gravel; and the common-area amenities were basically in-process. Nonetheless, for us, it was hands-down the best place to stay in Seward, if you have a car.

Though we were super impressed by the modern outlook of the property, rooms felt super hot and stuffy since there were no A/C or air circulation especially during the hot summer day. Our reservation stated that check-in started at 3pm but when we arrived at 3pm we were told check-in wasn't until 4pm. Our room smelled like someone had recently cooked in it and there was leftover food from someone else in both the refrigerator and freezer. We didn't bother to contact the management about it because we'd already had a hassle contacting someone about our check-in and there is no one on site. The rest of the room looked clean. The room was an odd design with a large closet that could only be accessed when the bathroom door was closed. There was no handle on the inside of the bathroom door but the door could be slid by using the very tips of our fingers. There weren't nightstands by the bed and there was no way to turn off any light from the bed. The hotel wasn't bad and it's in a good location, but we wouldn't stay here again.

The property was clean, and the location was great. We enjoyed the view and sitting in the fresh air, chatting with friends. Our complaint is that there is no service. No one mans the desk, and the housekeepers who were on site did not speak English. I had requested several things for the room, and was told by housekeeping, "ok", but none of it was delivered. I also let them know the two chairs in the room were dangerously wobbly, but nothing was done about it. If you have no needs, the accommodation is fine, but it's not a hotel, it's a self-check lodge.

Im so happy to be able to share this experience. If you are going to Seward and want to stay at the best Alaska hotel this is IT. The room was great, (keep in mind if you get a second floor theres no elevator). In room nice bathroom (NOT at every hotel in Seward most are shared) Very clean, nice TV with wifi that was good. A kitchen with dishes if you want. The PEOPLE are so sweet and couldnt do enough for us. I forgot to give them my time of arrival so I had called when we got off the train and they still were able to send someone right away to get us. This is not walking distance from town but not far. It's far enough to make it feel remote and alaskan. The vibe of this place is top notch. They even have a bonfire pit that we did use! They are building a second building but that was NOT an issue and we were on that side. This place is out of sight now. I cant imagine when they get the other one done it's gonna be a destination for weddings etc! They have a nice little coffee hut in the morning, super cute. I looked around in town and was glad we chose to stay there! Some in our party are super well traveled over the world and felt this was one of the greatest hotels they have stayed in-just the entire vibe of the place! I read some other reviews, if you are looking for a 5 star cement palace, this may not be it for you. If you want a really nice, fresh, friendly place, alaska all the way! This IS your hotel, you wont be disappointed.

My husband and I stayed at Spruce Lodge in Seward on Monday, August 4th, and I wanted to share feedback on our experience. We arrived at 5:15 p.m., well after the 3:00 p.m. check-in time, but unfortunately our room had not yet been cleaned from the prior guests. While the front desk staff apologized and mentioned they were behind, no alternate room or accommodation was offered. This delay altered our plans for the evening, as we were unable to unload our stuff, change our clothes, and head out for the hike we had scheduled. When we returned at approximately 8:00 p.m. after going to dinner, the room was ready, and we appreciated that. However, we noticed several issues during our stay: • The property was hard to find and the signage was very small and hidden in trees. We had to drive past several times. • The thermostat was non-functional, and the room was quite warm, which lead to an uncomfortable night. • The Wi-Fi was extremely spotty, and for the most part, non-functional. • The pillows were unusually thick, which made sleeping difficult and caused neck discomfort and a headache the whole next day. I contacted the property about these issues and my messages were completely ignored. I would never stay here again, nor would I recommend to others a stay here.

However, we noticed several issues during our stay: • The property was hard to find and the signage was very small and hidden in trees. We had to drive past several times. • The thermostat was non-functional, and the room was quite warm, which lead to an uncomfortable night. • The Wi-Fi was extremely spotty, and for the most part, non-functional. • The pillows were unusually thick, which made sleeping difficult and caused neck discomfort and a headache the whole next day. I contacted the property about these issues and my messages were completely ignored. I would never stay here again, nor would I recommend to others a stay here.

Check-in was a joke. No text, no email, no access code. Called a posted number that went to a different number with a full mailbox. Later got a call from another number that gave us access. Patently ridiculous arrangement. Trailer park on one side of the property - construction on the other.

I liked staying at this property a lot! Only thing is- it's technically not in Seward. It's like a 7 minute drive downtown. It would have been nice to have shuttles that go back and forth (and if there were maybe I was just not aware of them). Other than that, clean facilities, comfortable bed, and nice selection of TV options with the SMART Tv.

This is really neat place in many ways. You check in and leave without really seeing anyone. The rooms are very nice, with a full kitchen. There is an RV park/storage area next door which detracts a bit. It’s located away from town so it’s very quiet.

The rooms were very clean and modern, and very spacious as well! It was a convenient location, close to the port where our day cruises were leaving from and also the park entrance to Exit Glacier. Self check-in was smooth and clear instructions were provided. I would highly recommend staying in this wonderful place if you are planning a trip to Seward.

Of the three hotels we've stayed in within the Bear Creek neighborhood just north of Seward, this one was the best. The room was the largest and quietest. It included an electronic-heating faux fireplace; a kitchen table with seating; and a kitchenette with sink, plates, silverware and some pans, and a large refrigerator (but no stove). The beds had the best comforters of our travels. It is true that our room was hard to find in the complex (pale numbering not in the normal sequence; lack of clear signage), the complex's road are unfinished gravel; and the common-area amenities were basically in-process. Nonetheless, for us, it was hands-down the best place to stay in Seward, if you have a car.

But they do have my room cleaned every day. There's a coffee shop on site for a simple breakfast - bagel and coffee, opens at 7 am. There's a restaurant cross the street, but it was not open during our stay. Dining options are limited in general for the Seward area, and they close before 9 pm, so plan accordingly.

Great location & Quiet! Unit is row house, our unit was the end, with valted ceilings & no one above us. Bright & very clean, with beautiful Mtn views. There is a Coffee Espresso hut on site. Property is on the road to the Exit glacier, & is directly across the road from The Salmon Bake restraunt. The restaurant was great, good portions, quick service, open late. Exit Glacier is very close within a couple of miles down the road. Would stay again.

The property has some buildings under construction. It wasn't noisy but there was some building materials on the ground. Not really an issue. The room was clean and neat. There is a coffee shop on property. We had breakfast and coffee there. It was very good. The staff was friendly. If you have transportation I would give it all fives. When booked it said they had a shuttle. They have had issues with the shuttle and now you either have to take a cab or make other arrangements with them. They do charge extra for transportation now. The website has been changed to reflect the change in shuttle, but when we booked it said they had a shuttle that took you most places. We were not made aware of the change until I called the week before to confirm reservations.

What a wonderful lodge with spacious and well-appointed rooms including a kitchen. The location was perfect between downtown and the national park. Room was brand new with modern finishes. On site coffee truck had great morning breakfast options. We loved our stay here!

Self check-in and an espresso stand on-site was really nice and convenient. Staff (including doggos) were friendly. The walls were quite thin and the doors kind of slam shut, but luckily everyone was quiet after about 9:30pm.

We entered our room with a code and had no contact with anyone. Our room was nice, clean and comfortable. A lot of construction going on and the parking area was very muddy. Coffee shop on site but never opened.

Great place to stay. The Forget Me Not Chalet was wonderful. It was the perfect room to help us feel a little secluded for our anniversary trip. Coffee shop was delicious, but it was closed on Sunday morning. Good to keep in mind. Distance from Seward port area was just a short 10ish minutes away. We didn’t use the stove but was very happy to know it was an option.

PROS: Close to Seward for restaurants, tours, and nightlife. Comfortable bed New CONS: The room was not clean. There was dirt on the floor when we arrived, but no broom to sweep it up. No mat was outside the door and so you continue to bring more dirt in! The housekeeping staff replace towels, but do no cleaning while you’re there. The staff were the least helpful or friendly I’ve ever experienced all over the world. They acted annoyed if you asked for help. The walls and floors were so thin that we could hear neighbor noises constantly. The rooms were okay because it’s new, but it’s going to go downhill quickly. I wouldn’t stay here again.
