What guests think
Moxy Phoenix Downtown offers a lively, social vibe with a friendly team and central walkability to arenas and restaurants, but rooms are compact with minimal storage and amenities, and street or AC noise can affect light sleepers.
Most guests find the property clean and the bar a highlight, often with a complimentary welcome drink and fun lobby games. Service is widely praised as helpful and accommodating, though some report pricey valet, occasional staffing limits, or awkward bar-based check-in. Expect a stylish, central stay ideal for events and nights out rather than a quiet, full-amenities hotel.

We stayed at the Moxy in downtown Phoenix for three days during the rodeo festival, and it honestly made the whole trip even better. The vibe of the hotel was fun and relaxed, and everyone we interacted with was genuinely friendly. Housekeeping was amazing and always on top of things. The bar was another highlight. Even when it got crowded, the staff still made us feel taken care of. It really felt like a hidden gem, and we were so glad we chose it for our stay. We would definitely come back. Five stars for sure.

Stayed here for a night. Came to Phoenix for Dbacks game. The hotel is very modern and hip. The atmosphere is very easy going. The room is really small but cute, homey, and clean. The size of the room was not discouraging. I read reviews on it prior and we knew it was small but decided to give it a try due to its proximity to the Chase Field Stadium. Given 2 chips at check-in for courtesy drinks. Valet parking was $45 a night. Definitely will book again.

Great stay in refurbished Luhrs Building from the 20s. Wonderful service and clean room. Two free drinks with stay. Limited food but very tasty with what they have. Highly recommend! Right in the heart of downtown so easy walk to any venue in the area.

They have a self serve fridge with beverages, including alcoholic beverages. On New Year’s Eve after I took drinks out of the self serve fridge, their general manager charged towards me from the side, startling me, and snatched the drinks out of my hand saying he cannot sell those to me. He didn’t ask if I was a guest, all he said was “I cannot sell those to you” and speed walks away. I was so confused that I just stood there for a second trying to process what had just happened. Who was this man? Why was he so aggressive towards me. I then walked back to my bf and told him what happened. I walked back to my room and crossed paths with the general manager as I walked towards the elevator. He ignored me by looking away. He didn’t try to explain why. Nothing. My boyfriend later spoke to the general manager to which the general manager said it was because it was after 2am. Which is fine. I understand that. But it was the way he approached. He simply snatched them from my hand. It was extremely uncomfortable and it made me feel unsafe, devalued, and as if I had done something so wrong. We were told the general manager would call me the next day to apologize. That never happened. I told the front desk manager the next morning and she said “oh, it was probably after 2am”. Again, that did not justify the way the general manager approached me or handled the situation.

Beautiful spot for a solo traveler. Location was spotless and very central to tons of restaurants, events and other adventures. Using Waymo was a breeze and made life/transport easy. Minutes from the airport, a quick drive from Scottsdale. This hotel would be an easy choice every time. Thank you Moxy PHX!

The floors in the hallway outside my room was dirty the entire 5 days I was at the hotel. I know this because the same pile of goldfish crumbs was there. My room for fairly clean except for the corners. That’s where you could find lots of hair and dust. The bed was uncomfortable. But honestly, the worse part was there was NO small fridge in the room. I guess I am so used to staying in hotels with small refrigerators, that I assumed it was the norm. Sadly, because of no refrigeration, I had to throw all my wonderfully yummy leftovers away.

Cool, funky hotel. Super nice staff. Street sounds were too noisy to sleep well. Sheets on bed were a bit too crisp, so they were noisy when we’d turn over/move in bed. But overall a good value for location- and fine for one night.

It's a trendy hotel, so I wasn't prepared for the bartender to also be the check-in host. I had to wait for him to finish some bartending duties. It's the smallest room I've been in for a long time. There's no closet, no iron, no place really to set your suitcase on. The queen bed took up its nook with 1' on either side. Staying on a Saturday night, I heard a lot of street noise down below me vs my prior night in the Residence Inn next door. (couldn't get Resi Inn that night). At check-out, I waited several minutes for the bartender to finish serving some people before I just left the room keys on the check-out laptop.

The hotel, staff, location were all perfect. However, we made arrangements the night before with the valet to bring our vehicle up since we were leaving for our flight at 3am. we tipped him and he said the vehicle would be on the street in front of the mariott. at 3a.m. When we went downstairs, the car was not there and the keys were not located for 10 minutes. they had a note on them that said EARLY DEPARTURE. luckily the desk clerk and the security guard worked together to take my husband into the garage and located the car with much difficulty. we did get to the airport on time, but it was very nerve racking. the night desk clerk said it was the 3rd time that week that it had happened. she also stated that the valet sat in the lobby until midnight when he left and was on his phone. This person does not need to be working there. The tip we gave him should go to the security guard who helped out.

I was in town for the WNBA all star weekend and after the game on Saturday night, I was unable to order food because they only had two staff on duty during a crowded weekend. I left and spent my money elsewhere to get a good meal. I know Marriott can afford to hire additional staff during a busy time.

My overnight stay went really well. The staff was very kind and accommodating. The only thing with the property is it’s right next to a run down area with lots of homeless people around. There’s not much of a security or police presence in the area to maybe to deal with it. The parking was expensive for staying at the hotel maybe find a way to add into the cost of the reservation to make it a little cheaper. Regardless i will return since the price is perfect for my short local business stays.

Staff were amazing, room was clean, but the street noise was SO LOUD. I'm not a good sleeper, so we booked this hotel because they advertise their rooms as having soundproofing and blackout fixtures in the windows. While it may be true that there's soundproofing between the rooms, there is no soundproofing with the street. The street car lines have stops right outside the hotel, and we were kept awake by the regular arrival and departure of the train every 20 minutes.

Great stay in refurbished Luhrs Building from the 20s. Wonderful service and clean room. Two free drinks with stay. Limited food but very tasty with what they have. Highly recommend! Right in the heart of downtown so easy walk to any venue in the area.

I was in town for the WNBA all star weekend and after the game on Saturday night, I was unable to order food because they only had two staff on duty during a crowded weekend. I left and spent my money elsewhere to get a good meal. I know Marriott can afford to hire additional staff during a busy time.
