Cabin with modern amenities. We enjoyed the hot tub on back deck and we used fire pit beside cabin at night. The grotto area was one of a kind and absolutely beautiful (but I would not recommend small children to this area).

Last minute trip with the kids for hiking! We enjoyed the convenience of a cabin offering a 1 night stay. The grotto was super cool and we grilled our burgers and hot dogs while relaxing after a hike. The loft was perfect for the kids to sleep and there were some games to keep them occupied after we came in for the night. Great cabin!!

We loved our stay at this property! The house was clean and had everything we needed for a great weekend. We hiked on the trails around the house and enjoyed sitting out at the grotto listening to the hikers and climbers below.

We absolutely loved every minute of our time at Hemlocks Over Muir! The cabin was spotless and smelled so nice upon check in and it had everything we needed for a wonderful getaway. We couldn't have asked for a better experience. Some helpful tips: 1. We were glad we brought beach towels for the hot tub - the towels there are fine but just smaller shower towels 2. The hiking around the cabin is seriously no joke! I would definitely say it is for the advanced hiker and I wouldn't suggest it to the elderly or those not in decent shape already. 3. There is a family that sells firewood very close to the cabin for $5 a bundle. At the T intersection coming from the cabin you take a right and it's about 1/2 mile down that road on the left. It is a cash honor system. 4. I would suggest bringing everything you need considering shopping is a pretty far drive. There is an IGA about 20 minutes where we were able to get groceries but it is limited if you are used to variety. 5. The Grotto is a beautiful addition to the property but there is only a small rope that separates the area to an extremely sheer cliff. I would suggest extreme caution with children/pets/alcohol. We found the cabin to be immaculate and definitely plan on returning again! My only very picky suggestion would to add a knife block. The only knives we found were a pairing knife and a small chef knife so if you like to cook I'd suggest bringing your own. Thanks for a wonderful trip!

Stayed 3 nights with our 10yo, she loved the loft area and we had fun checking out the grotto and toasting marshmallows in the fire pit. Cabin was very cozy and clean, close to all the great hikes. However, as a pediatrician I have to say I would have been scared to have young kids in the back area due to the steep dropoff. For older kids and adults this cabin was perfect!

My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The cabin was beautiful and was well stocked. It was secluded yet convenient to many activities. There was a great deal of information provided regarding various activities in the region which was much appreciated. The hot tub was great after a day of hiking. Sitting on the deck listening to the birds was relaxing. The grotto was great and it was interesting hearing rock climbers talking below us. We would definitely love to come back to the area and wouldn't hesitate to rent this cabin again.

This property was great, better than the description. Very secluded but close to everything as well. The place was very clean. My only suggestion is that the couch and chair in the living needs a good deep cleaning or to be replaced. The couch wasna little dirty under the cushions and just visibly worn/dirty though it did sit pretty comfortably. Would have liked to play Cornhole but we could only find the bags not the boards. There is plenty of board games and frisbee golf, 2 fire pits, picnic tables, a hot tub, a smoker grill (don't forget your charcoal), outside patio furniture on the property and a trail that leads right from the lot. We did not use this trail as we weren't sure of the length or it's difficulty. Great place to stay with plenty to do. We did not see the parking pass for the Muir center til the night before we checked out. That is a nice added bonus for guest.

We had a great 3 day stay at Hemlocks over Muir. Location was easy to access (gravel road, but no wild inclines), and quiet. We didn’t spend much time exploring outside the property since it was 90+ degrees, but the views even from the back porch and grotto area were serene. After some sweaty days of hiking in RRG, we especially appreciated the comfortable bed, extremely clean bathroom, and powerful minisplit AC! It was great having a washer and dryer so we arrived home with clean clothes. FYI for future guests: neighbors on the shared gravel road have small dogs that run out— drive slow! All around a great base for RRG adventures, as well as a lovely quiet getaway.

This property did not disappoint! We were walking around in awe of how clean and nice this property was. The grotto in the backyard was so cool and the view! It was also very close to everything we had planned for the weekend. Kitchen had everything we needed! When we go back with the kids we will definitely be staying here.

My husband and I truly enjoyed our anniversary getaway at Hemlocks over Muir. The cabin was exactly as advertised and one of the nicest cabins we've stayed in at the Gorge. Clean, modern, comfortable, and incredible access to hiking trails. We'll definitely be back!

This is the first time I can honestly say the pictures don’t do the property justice! The home was clean, adorably decorated inside and out, and had all of the amenities necessary. We were so pleased with everything—from the comfort of the bed to the shower head to the well-appointed kitchen. The deck, side yard, and Grotto are all fantastic places to spend time depending on what you are doing. We enjoyed the beautiful views, the cows on the ridge, and the many deer that visited, as well as the birds. The property was clean and well-stocked! We had a little trouble at the steepest part of the gravel driveway both entering and exiting (FWD crossover vehicle) even in the dry conditions, so heads up there. But once you’re there, you don’t really need to leave! Thanks for the perfect stay!

Overall this is an excellent cabin. Great location, very clean, comfortable beds, beautiful grounds. Management was easy to work with. Communication was great. The only thing we didn't like is the camera on front of the house. We felt that we didn't get the privacy that we were hoping for. It would have been nice to unwind completely, but the thought of someone watching every time we went in and out the front was a little unsettling....not that they 'are' watching, but the idea that someone 'could' be watching didn't escape us. I'd vote to remove the doorbell camera as the camera in the trees that monitors vehicles as you drive up should suffice for surveillance.

My wife and I were on a vacation/road trip and actually stopped here for three days for my cousin's wedding. Loved this house! Ideal for a couple! Not terribly big, but if it's just the two of you and even some kids, you're good to go! The pictures don't even do it justice, there's a great fire pit out back that overlooks a gorge. It's incredible! And right outside your front door you have hiking trails, so you don't even have to go anywhere! We had our dogs with us and it was so nice to have a place where they were welcomed and able to explore (but keep an eye on them!). Most importantly, the hosts are super responsive and available for anything. Always important for us. There's also so much to do in the area, but I would definitely recommend the Gorge Underground, it was an incredible experience! Just book in advance because the spots fill up quick! Like book now! Also, we did the skylift to Natural Bridge which was great! Highly recommend this property and area, you won't be disappointed!

We thoroughly enjoy our stay at Hemlocks Over Muir. Check-in was super easy and the views from the back are gorgeous! We could hear and see climbers sometimes that were climbing Muir Valley. We also highly recommend Red Point BBQ just down the street from here, the food was delicious.

I booked this as a little birthday celebration getaway with some friends and it was fantastic!! The house was exactly as described and I loved how secluded it was. It was very clean and the beds are sooooo comfy. We spent most of our time outdoors, on the back porch or down in the grotto with the beautiful view. Highly recommend if you’re looking for a place in Kentucky.

One afternoon, the transformer outside blew up and we were without pawer for a few hours until it was dark. We spent the entire time trying to contact the host and the management office to get this situation resolved. Thank goodness, once the electric department arrived, they fixed the problem in a few minutes. After they left the premises, the tv would not work, so we spent more time getting maintenance out there to fix that problem. We had plans to go out to eat, but of course, that did not happen. Unfortunately, I will avoid using VRBO in the future, because you do not get that personal communication and you are not able to get a lot of details until after you have booked. Basically, you have to settle with what you get, and there is always an average of extra $300 in fees!! Too much money!! I will also add that Heather (host) was very friendly via messages.

Stayed 3 nights with our 10yo, she loved the loft area and we had fun checking out the grotto and toasting marshmallows in the fire pit. Cabin was very cozy and clean, close to all the great hikes. However, as a pediatrician I have to say I would have been scared to have young kids in the back area due to the steep dropoff. For older kids and adults this cabin was perfect!

This is the first time I can honestly say the pictures don’t do the property justice! The home was clean, adorably decorated inside and out, and had all of the amenities necessary. We were so pleased with everything—from the comfort of the bed to the shower head to the well-appointed kitchen. The deck, side yard, and Grotto are all fantastic places to spend time depending on what you are doing. We enjoyed the beautiful views, the cows on the ridge, and the many deer that visited, as well as the birds. The property was clean and well-stocked! We had a little trouble at the steepest part of the gravel driveway both entering and exiting (FWD crossover vehicle) even in the dry conditions, so heads up there. But once you’re there, you don’t really need to leave! Thanks for the perfect stay!

We thoroughly enjoy our stay at Hemlocks Over Muir. Check-in was super easy and the views from the back are gorgeous! We could hear and see climbers sometimes that were climbing Muir Valley. We also highly recommend Red Point BBQ just down the street from here, the food was delicious.

First- the cabin itself is beautiful and the pictures do not do it justice. Secluded but easily accessible. Second- buy the trip insurance! The management company is not reachable. The only communication was via text. I attempted to contact the office number multiple times with a response via text or no response at all. We arrived to the cabin without water and I notified the office right away. Via text we were told they would look into the issue only to be left with no answers after the 6pm closing time for the office. I left multiple voicemails in addition to multiple texts trying to get an answer if our water would be working, only to leave the cabin less than 5 hours into our stay. I didn’t receive a response until after 9am the next day. If there’s an emergency, you will not get timely assistance/response. We completely understand things happen outside of anyone’s control, but proper customer service is vital. After much back and forth with the company (once again, via text because no one answers the phone) we were reimbursed half of the payment.

It exceeded our expectations so well that we will definitely be returning and using the same management company from here on! Everything about this property was exactly what we wanted. Private, clean and comfortable. The view of the bluff from the back deck was a bonus. Just a few minutes from everything we wanted to see. We will be back here! Had a minor issue with HVAC fan remote control, but management responded a couple of space heaters. Everything else was just perfect!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at RRG and at the Hemlocks property. We loved the grotto area and hearing the climbers under us. The house was clean with plenty of outside areas to spread out and the loft area was a great hangout for 3-16 year olds. The kitchen was well stocked with everything we needed to prepare meals at home. The best thing about this cabin was the property managers. There was a plumbing issue at the cabin that delayed our stay by 1 day but they were able to put us in another beautiful cabin for our first night that also accomodated our group. They communicated with us every step of the way and answered all our questions graciously and in a timely manner. This was a great first trip to RRG. We are already planning another trip and hope to stay at Hemlocks Over Muir again

Overall this is an excellent cabin. Great location, very clean, comfortable beds, beautiful grounds. Management was easy to work with. Communication was great. The only thing we didn't like is the camera on front of the house. We felt that we didn't get the privacy that we were hoping for. It would have been nice to unwind completely, but the thought of someone watching every time we went in and out the front was a little unsettling....not that they 'are' watching, but the idea that someone 'could' be watching didn't escape us. I'd vote to remove the doorbell camera as the camera in the trees that monitors vehicles as you drive up should suffice for surveillance.

We had a great 3 day stay at Hemlocks over Muir. Location was easy to access (gravel road, but no wild inclines), and quiet. We didn’t spend much time exploring outside the property since it was 90+ degrees, but the views even from the back porch and grotto area were serene. After some sweaty days of hiking in RRG, we especially appreciated the comfortable bed, extremely clean bathroom, and powerful minisplit AC! It was great having a washer and dryer so we arrived home with clean clothes. FYI for future guests: neighbors on the shared gravel road have small dogs that run out— drive slow! All around a great base for RRG adventures, as well as a lovely quiet getaway.

My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The cabin was beautiful and was well stocked. It was secluded yet convenient to many activities. There was a great deal of information provided regarding various activities in the region which was much appreciated. The hot tub was great after a day of hiking. Sitting on the deck listening to the birds was relaxing. The grotto was great and it was interesting hearing rock climbers talking below us. We would definitely love to come back to the area and wouldn't hesitate to rent this cabin again.

Last minute trip with the kids for hiking! We enjoyed the convenience of a cabin offering a 1 night stay. The grotto was super cool and we grilled our burgers and hot dogs while relaxing after a hike. The loft was perfect for the kids to sleep and there were some games to keep them occupied after we came in for the night. Great cabin!!

The loft was perfect for the kids to sleep and there were some games to keep them occupied after we came in for the night. Great cabin!!

My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The cabin was beautiful and was well stocked. It was secluded yet convenient to many activities. There was a great deal of information provided regarding various activities in the region which was much appreciated. The hot tub was great after a day of hiking. Sitting on the deck listening to the birds was relaxing. The grotto was great and it was interesting hearing rock climbers talking below us. We would definitely love to come back to the area and wouldn't hesitate to rent this cabin again.

This property was great, better than the description. Very secluded but close to everything as well. The place was very clean. My only suggestion is that the couch and chair in the living needs a good deep cleaning or to be replaced. The couch wasna little dirty under the cushions and just visibly worn/dirty though it did sit pretty comfortably. Would have liked to play Cornhole but we could only find the bags not the boards. There is plenty of board games and frisbee golf, 2 fire pits, picnic tables, a hot tub, a smoker grill (don't forget your charcoal), outside patio furniture on the property and a trail that leads right from the lot. We did not use this trail as we weren't sure of the length or it's difficulty. Great place to stay with plenty to do. We did not see the parking pass for the Muir center til the night before we checked out. That is a nice added bonus for guest.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at RRG and at the Hemlocks property. We loved the grotto area and hearing the climbers under us. The house was clean with plenty of outside areas to spread out and the loft area was a great hangout for 3-16 year olds. The kitchen was well stocked with everything we needed to prepare meals at home. The best thing about this cabin was the property managers. There was a plumbing issue at the cabin that delayed our stay by 1 day but they were able to put us in another beautiful cabin for our first night that also accomodated our group. They communicated with us every step of the way and answered all our questions graciously and in a timely manner. This was a great first trip to RRG. We are already planning another trip and hope to stay at Hemlocks Over Muir again

This is the first time I can honestly say the pictures don’t do the property justice! The home was clean, adorably decorated inside and out, and had all of the amenities necessary. We were so pleased with everything—from the comfort of the bed to the shower head to the well-appointed kitchen. The deck, side yard, and Grotto are all fantastic places to spend time depending on what you are doing. We enjoyed the beautiful views, the cows on the ridge, and the many deer that visited, as well as the birds. The property was clean and well-stocked! We had a little trouble at the steepest part of the gravel driveway both entering and exiting (FWD crossover vehicle) even in the dry conditions, so heads up there. But once you’re there, you don’t really need to leave! Thanks for the perfect stay!

Nice cabin! Comfortable furniture. Close to most area attractions. We enjoyed the yard and the hot tub. Wish it had a DVD player for the kids. The only complaint is the driveway was a bit sketchy. Our van bottomed out a lot. Definitely parts that can have more gravel placed. I wish we would have brought the truck instead. Overall, we enjoyed the stay very much. We will return :)

Another wonderful trip to Hemlocks Over Muir! The cabin and property were clean, well stocked, and exactly how we remembered it and reasons why we returned. We highly recommend Thatcher BBQ and RedPoint BBQ (get the smoked wings and thank me later)! Unfortunately the weather didn’t corporate and we had heavy rainfall our entire trip. Everything around Red River Gorge is geared to outdoor activities, so it made a long rainy trip tough to be cooped up indoors but this cabin has everything you need including lots of board games for those rainy days! We really enjoyed our time again and Patrick was again spot on with communication and response time! Just a few suggestions from returning guests:- The front right burner has stopped regulating heat and only heats on high.- I would suggest it is time to upgrade your cookware. The one larger skillet is uneven and it was difficult to cook with. One tiny one we didn’t try but would suggest a variety of sizes. This is a wonderful, peaceful place that we highly recommend and look forward to returning again!

Beautiful, secluded location near everything the Gorge and Natural Bridge has to offer. Cozy cabin with great views, great place to recharge. The trail into Muir Valley was a little overgrown, but it’s awesome having trails accessible directly from the cabin.

Wonderful stay at Hemlocks. Did some hiking at Muir Valley and Red River Gorge. House was perfect for our family of 5. Hot tub was nice relaxer at the end of the day.

I went completely out of my comfort zone and took a solo vacation with my dogs for the holiday. This cabin was absolutely perfect for a quiet, secluded, and relaxing getaway! I really enjoyed the beautiful backyard view and the hot tub. The dogs loved all of the space to run around in the front/side yard and explore the woods. I did keep them on leash at all times when down in the lower backyard area just to be safe because it is a bit scary for animals/young children if they get close to the edge but that’s an easy supervision fix. You are a 20-30 min drive to every big hiking area so it was a perfect drive each day to try out different trails. The cabin does have a slight pet odor to it, but it’s not bothersome if you are visiting with pets and the cabin was very clean overall. I hope to return again soon! Thank you for making it such a memorable Christmas trip!
