The cottage was very comfortable. There was the friendliest cat in the world that visited us daily. Luckily, our dog is a cat lover as the cat had absolutely no fear of dogs. The bed was comfortable. The purpose of our trip was to visit our daughter and son-in-law that live in Orange. In the past we stayed with them but I recently had knee surgery and I could not manage the steps at their apartment. Both of them stopped by the day after our arrival on their way home from work to see where we were staying. They stayed for not more than 45 min and left for home. We joined them for dinner in town and when I returned home I checked my email. Apparently the neighbor had reported to the host that they saw cars at the cottage. I explained that my daughter and her husband stopped by to see where we were staying and were not staying over. My daughter thought the cottage was cute. After that we felt a little uncomfortable about being under surveillance by the neighbor. Even though the host said it was ok for them to "stop by" , we felt uncomfortable and just spent time with them at their home. There was a small issue with ants even though we had everything sealed up. Also we had a little issue with where we needed to park but we worked that out. Overall we enjoyed our visit and the farm is really pretty.

I took a few days to Orange to check out the local rodeo, breweries, and wineries. I stayed in this nice little cottage on a beautiful farm overlooking the Shenandoah off in the distance. It was a comfortable stay and had everything I needed. Though there were other folks staying on the property, they were far enough away to feel like you had the place all to yourself. The property is conveniently located near several attractions including wineries, breweries, horseback riding, and James Madison’s Montpelier. If you’re looking for a rustic but cozy couple’s getaway on a good budget, this is the place.
