A lovely boutique hotel with delightful staff and lush greenery surrounding a pool that is built for short laps and cooling off. The rooms are spacious, some with their own plunge pools and comfy couches on which to lounge. The in-house massage therapists are an extra bonus. The hotel is conveniently located in a quieter part of Merida but close enough to the center of town, a 20-minute walk away. The Marcado Santiago is but 5 minutes away on foot and offers authentic local fare along with a living gallery of community activities such as dance and celebrations. About an hour's drive from the beaches of the Gulf, and nearby cenotes. A perfect hideaway from winter's wrath. Breakfast is good too.

The place was fully rustic. The A/C was not able to cool the living room part of the room. The bedroom, however, did manage to get cool. The floors were not as clean as they could have been- I found this out after walking on them with only my socks. It was difficult reaching our room as we had to traverse railroad ties that were half buried into the ground. The foilage leading to our room was overgrown. There was no telephone in room- glad there wasn’t an emergency.

Hotel interesante en el Barrio de Santiago. No esta tan cerca del Centro Historico, caminando son 15 a 20 min. No lo recomiendo para personas de 3a. Edad o con niños, los pasillos para llegar a los cuartos y albercas no tienen piso, sino troncos de madera desiguales y grava, lo que hace imposible llevar maletas, silla de ruedas, carriola y es facil caerse.

We had a fantastic room with a private little yard and pool that we loved - the breakfast was great and the staff was so nice . We also got massages which were perfect . The hotel pool and grounds were also really nice !

He estado en este hotel por varias ocasiones, es nuestro punto de partida para conocer Yucatán. No tiene estacionamiento pero la calle ha resultado muy segura. Cerca del Centro si te gusta caminar y de varios lugares de interés como la Plaza Santa Lucía. A unos pasos de la parada del VayVen (transporte publico). Estaba en remodelación lo cual fue un inconveniente para el restaurante ya que solo tenía servicio por la mañana. El plus es que ahora hay un servicio de Spa fabuloso. Si fue un poco difícil para mi madre, persona de la tercera edad el acceso al cuarto, pero nada que no pudiéramos resolver, y el encargado del hotel nos prestó una silla de ruedas. El lugar en sí es encantador pero lo mejor es la atención de su personal ¡de lo mejor en mis experiencias de viajera!

Friendly and helpful staff. Very safe and mellow vibe in the middle of the Santiago neighborhood, which feels like a middle class area. Spacious room and great bed. Nicely maintained grounds and pool. It’s about 1 mile from the heart of the historical district, or roughly a 15 minute walk.

This hotel is beautiful! It’s wonderfully maintained and really easy to find parking, also rather quiet compared to the city center. I will say, this is not their fault but they might want to consider redoing the doors or adding bug nets- I found a huge cockroach in my room one night and saw another going under the door to another room. It’s kinda unavoidable in the tropical climate but it would be helpful if the doors didn’t have huge gaps! In any case, it was a beautiful space and I would stay here again!

El hotel es bonito aunque lejos del centro.Tiene todo lo necesario para una excelente estancia se encuentra un poco descuidado. El desayuno tiene costo extra pero está rico y completo, acorde a los precios. Soliciten a diario la limpieza ya que encontramos un alacrán y una cucaracha, aspecto que definitivamente arruina el alojamiento.

I am requesting a refund. Last night I tried to contact you, but nobody followed up on my complaint. Around 10:30 p.m., I saw one large dead cockroach and another one alive in my room, which I had to kill. When I reported this to the receptionist, he told me I could use a spray — which is a completely inappropriate response. I explained that I have asthma, and he replied that I should have told them earlier. I said that I should not have to notify the hotel in advance in order to avoid being exposed to pesticides. I was moved to another room, but I still could not sleep well. There was no blanket, I was unsure if there were more cockroaches, and there was no fridge in the room. Overall, I am very upset with Expedia for this experience and the lack of proper support.

This is a very good hotel. The building is lovely as well as the pool. Rooms are very spacious and comfortable and the air conditioning works properly, which is a must in Merida. The one thing we were not too keen on was the fact that the hotel is about 20 minutes walk from the centre which made it difficult sometimes. The surrounding streets are very quiet and somewhat dark so that’s something to consider when you are waking back to the hotel at night.

We arrived about an hour and a half early, and although our room was ready, we were asked to pay €15 to access it. That didn’t feel like service, especially since the room was already available. After that, communication remained minimal and not particularly friendly. The room itself was fine. However, it was somewhat noisy on the road-facing side, and the air conditioning was not turned on upon arrival, so the room was still warm. Overall, it was okay — but nothing more than that.

This is a great hotel in a very good location. The rooms are large and very quiet. There is a beautiful pool. The included breakfast was very good. WiFi is a little inconsistent as was the hot water for the shower but overall we had a great stay and I would definitely stay again.

The hotel is in Barrio de Santiago, a quiet, gentrifying area just west of the Centro. I liked the staff very much - they were super helpful and super nice and patient with my rusty Spanish. The plunge pool was very welcoming and clean, great to cool off after a hot day walking around. Walking to the room was quite tricky. Not great for unsteady walkers. The coffee at breakfast was limited to 1 cup and really, it was awful. There was a coffee maker in the room which was also limited to 1 cup each, but we didn't use it. The hot water in the shower lasted 5 minutes or so, but a tepid shower was OK given the heat. There was nowhere to hang a wet bathing suit to dry (if anything ever really dries in Mérida.) A clothesline in the shower would've been perfect. The room had a bedroom and an anteroom with a couch but it felt cave-like in that it was very dark, even with the lights on. Not enough hangers. Generally, the room was just OK though the bed was very comfortable. The location is good. The nearby Parque de Santiago has a mercado with some "taquerias" and "loncherias". Plus music and dancing on Tuesday evenings. There are cafes nearby the hotel with very good coffee. A 20-minute walk to the central plaza and to Paseo Montejo. 30 minutes to the central mercado. All-in-all, it was a pleasant stay but I will not use the hotel again. I'd prefer something lighter and brighter.

Great and spacious room, comfy bed, nice shower. Easily accessible from Centro either by car or by foot. There’s construction happening around the hotel, so a bit noisy in the morning but the room darkening curtains help. The main pool seems nice and clean (didn’t use it) and the small pool in the back garden of room #4 was lovely. Would’ve been nice to have a small fridge in the room to keep drinks cold, or complimentary ice bucket/ice. Air conditioning worked great though! Overall a solid place that offers a lot of value for the cost.

There’s construction happening around the hotel, so a bit noisy in the morning but the room darkening curtains help. The main pool seems nice and clean (didn’t use it) and the small pool in the back garden of room #4 was lovely. Would’ve been nice to have a small fridge in the room to keep drinks cold, or complimentary ice bucket/ice. Air conditioning worked great though! Overall a solid place that offers a lot of value for the cost.

El hotel me pareció cómodo pero el personal del hotel, específicamente las recepcionistas fueron poco profesionales, sin manejo de servicio al cliente (contrario al masajista y a la persona que atendía el restaurante) ya que nos acusaron de haber orinado una almohada sin haberlo verificado antes (evidentemente no fue cierto), nos quisieron cobrar alcohol que no consumimos y primero nos dijeron que si podría haber late check out, planeamos nuestro día conforme a eso y luego nos dijeron que no. Our stay at Hotel Unknown was average, but the arrival left a poor first impression. The check-in process was difficult and far from welcoming. We arrived about an hour and a half early, and although our room was ready, we were asked to pay €15 to access it. That didn’t feel like service, especially since the room was already available. After that, communication remained minimal and not particularly friendly. The room itself was fine. However, it was somewhat noisy on the road-facing side, and the air conditioning was not turned on upon arrival, so the room was still warm. Overall, it was okay — but nothing more than that.

The property is perfect for a relaxing and fun visit to Merida. The hotel pool and private plunge pools are a real plus in the hot weather. The rooms are well appointed, the air conditioning works great, and the beds are super comfortable. The greenery and plants make the outdoor space feel like a tropical paradise. Above all, the staff are exceptional. The front desk staff are very knowledgeable about Merida and take care of every detail with great professionalism. The operations team is on top of every detail. The cleaning staff and wait staff are super helpful, willing to go over and beyond to make sure guests have what they need. I highly recommend the spa, too! Hotel Unknown is like my home away from home and the only place I stay when visiting Merida. I can’t wait to go back.

I am requesting a refund. Last night I tried to contact you, but nobody followed up on my complaint. Around 10:30 p.m., I saw one large dead cockroach and another one alive in my room, which I had to kill. When I reported this to the receptionist, he told me I could use a spray — which is a completely inappropriate response. I explained that I have asthma, and he replied that I should have told them earlier. I said that I should not have to notify the hotel in advance in order to avoid being exposed to pesticides. I was moved to another room, but I still could not sleep well. There was no blanket, I was unsure if there were more cockroaches, and there was no fridge in the room. Overall, I am very upset with Expedia for this experience and the lack of proper support.

This is a very good hotel. The building is lovely as well as the pool. Rooms are very spacious and comfortable and the air conditioning works properly, which is a must in Merida. The one thing we were not too keen on was the fact that the hotel is about 20 minutes walk from the centre which made it difficult sometimes. The surrounding streets are very quiet and somewhat dark so that’s something to consider when you are waking back to the hotel at night.

Hotel is located in a quiet neighborhood. Need DiDi/Uber to go places. It is a different kind of hotel, coming from western country. Only give you limited things for breakfast. Pool is ok, but you have to claim it. If some family is using it, you cannot use it, there is no place to just hang out. Rooms are unique, with sitting area. Because of the greenery at the hotel, lots of mosquitoes, I got bit many times. It was decent hotel, but, I will not be staying there next time.

This is a great hotel in a very good location. The rooms are large and very quiet. There is a beautiful pool. The included breakfast was very good. WiFi is a little inconsistent as was the hot water for the shower but overall we had a great stay and I would definitely stay again.

The hotel is in Barrio de Santiago, a quiet, gentrifying area just west of the Centro. I liked the staff very much - they were super helpful and super nice and patient with my rusty Spanish. The plunge pool was very welcoming and clean, great to cool off after a hot day walking around. Walking to the room was quite tricky. Not great for unsteady walkers. The coffee at breakfast was limited to 1 cup and really, it was awful. There was a coffee maker in the room which was also limited to 1 cup each, but we didn't use it. The hot water in the shower lasted 5 minutes or so, but a tepid shower was OK given the heat. There was nowhere to hang a wet bathing suit to dry (if anything ever really dries in Mérida.) A clothesline in the shower would've been perfect. The room had a bedroom and an anteroom with a couch but it felt cave-like in that it was very dark, even with the lights on. Not enough hangers. Generally, the room was just OK though the bed was very comfortable. The location is good. The nearby Parque de Santiago has a mercado with some "taquerias" and "loncherias". Plus music and dancing on Tuesday evenings. There are cafes nearby the hotel with very good coffee. A 20-minute walk to the central plaza and to Paseo Montejo. 30 minutes to the central mercado. All-in-all, it was a pleasant stay but I will not use the hotel again. I'd prefer something lighter and brighter.

Habitaciones amplias y de buen diseño, con lo necesario. Sugiero que no dejen la manguera de riego en el pasillo hacia las habitaciones. Desayuno muy sencillo. El café sabía a quemado. Nos tocó trabajadores y el ruido lo hacían desde las 8 am además de que gritaban y cantaban, y nosotros queríamos descansar más tiempo.

Cest un joli hôtel, les chambres sont grandes et le petit jardin avec le bassin bien agréable. Le service est tres bien. Le petit dejeuner meriterait un peu plus de diversité (oeuf et fruits) avec un café. Pas de souci pour se garer. Lacces au centre ville est facile, nous faisions la moitie avec la voiture et le reste a pied. Manque d'insonorisation avec la chambre voisine.

He estado en este hotel por varias ocasiones, es nuestro punto de partida para conocer Yucatán. No tiene estacionamiento pero la calle ha resultado muy segura. Cerca del Centro si te gusta caminar y de varios lugares de interés como la Plaza Santa Lucía. A unos pasos de la parada del VayVen (transporte publico). Estaba en remodelación lo cual fue un inconveniente para el restaurante ya que solo tenía servicio por la mañana. El plus es que ahora hay un servicio de Spa fabuloso. Si fue un poco difícil para mi madre, persona de la tercera edad el acceso al cuarto, pero nada que no pudiéramos resolver, y el encargado del hotel nos prestó una silla de ruedas. El lugar en sí es encantador pero lo mejor es la atención de su personal ¡de lo mejor en mis experiencias de viajera!

Beautiful hotel, staff was very friendly and the pool in the room was the highlight of our trip. The hotel is a bit far from Plaza Central (about 20 min walk), just to keep in mind. Rooms are spacious and bed was comfortable. Breakfast were basic and small portion but Plaza de Santiago is just 2 blocks from the hotel with the best tacos/tortas of cochinita and lechón great for breakfast. It's a must!
