What guests think

At Tru by Hilton Charleston Airport, many guests highlight clean, simple rooms, a convenient location near the airport and coliseum, and generally friendly staff, while others note inconsistent housekeeping, maintenance issues, and basic room design with limited storage.

Facilities like the gym and indoor pool are appreciated, but elevator problems and occasional pool closures come up. Breakfast is commonly praised, including gluten free options, though coffee or pancake machines and items sometimes run out. Noise from thin walls, hard beds or pillows, and low shower pressure are recurring complaints. Expect a modern, value-focused stay with tradeoffs.

My kids love the indoor poor. It’s clean and quiet and our choice when our boy has MUSC appointments in North Charleston.

Great stay. Room was large enoigh for 3 people and 2 large suitcases. Shower was great. I love the eco friendly shampoo, conditioner and body wash bottles. They also have squeeze bottles of hand soap and body lotion. Breakfast items are served on paper goods, so there's a lot going to the dump to that end. Breakfast was great on both days. They change up the style of eggs so it doesnt get boring. Pool table in the lobby was a big hit. My son and husband spent a lot of time playing. The board games have not been taken care of from past guests, so that was a bummer. The pool looked refreshing, but we didnt use it. Lobby had a lot of seating options and very many outlets for phones and devices. The furniture has definitely been loved as there were a lot of stains. Not sure how people spill things and dont clean up after themselves... We received a text message from Nick asking how our stay was going. On that tjread you can continue to communicate any needs you may have. All in all, this was a great 2-nightstay. If ever in the are we will stay here again.

Room was clean! However, the beds are uncomfortable. They give you a thin blanket that basically won’t cover two adults. 3 pillows instead of 4 and are thin. One elevator was out of order and the elevator that was working made really bad sounds and jerked. The free breakfast can’t complain because it was free, but the Tru in Wyoming I think the last time we stayed in one was way better.

Hotel is esthetically pleasing, check in process was good. Roaches were in the bathroom we had to change rooms the second room had a horrible urine smell the 3rd room was fine. Breakfast didnt have many options and didn’t taste good at all. Getting towels was a hassle as if they don’t have many in the hotel, staff who brought the towels to our room was rude about not handing over the clean towels until having the used towels handed to him first. The pool was nice, and the other staff members were friendly.

Saw insects a couple different times during our stay, but it is summer in the south. Some mold buildup on bathroom ceiling. Elevators were struggling and sounded rough. Bed linens were weird - they used a dust ruffle as a top sheet. No washcloths or tissues in the room which was also odd. Staff members were all very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was decent. Coffee was good. Guest pantry well stocked with convenience items. I didn't check out the pool but I'm usually not into indoor pools. Pool table was a nice touch. Overall I'd stay here again for shows at the Coliseum, but the property needs some attention to stay competitive, there's a lot of hotels in the area and it wasn't the cheapest.

Overall good experience - however the room smelled musty (we think from the shower drain), the shower had several hairs in it when we arrived and a mystery wet spot on the bench - breakfast was pretty good and the staff were very friendly and professional. I would stay here again just would like to see the cleaning stepped up a little

I've already complained to the GM twice since my stay, and I haven't received any reply. Absurd. This hotel is awful. The rooms do not feature closets or bureaus for clothes. The AC unit NEVER SHUTS OFF, and there is no way for guests to do so. The pillows and beds are uncomfortable. My room had bedbugs, so I left with bites all over my legs. Finally, I stayed for five nights, and my room was only cleaned and made up ONCE, even after repeated requests to the front desk. That is unacceptable. The breakfast spread and gym are solid, but those are the only positives I can offer about this property. Regardless, I don't recommend staying here.

We love Tru hotels! It’s our first pick always. This time is the only time they didn’t have coffee… they said the machine was broken… shouldn’t they have a back up machine?! Just a thought. Also, if they would put small coffee makers in the room that would help. We are coffee drinkers and had to go drive to get coffee each morning. The hotel was excellent though! We will stay there again!
