(Many steps to the riverfront, but they even have a couple of chairs in the river to watch all the people tubing the river.) Our room was spacious and we had a patio overlooking the hot tub. Easy walk to shopping. Breakfast was delicious, the evening wine and beer was enjoyable and overall it was a most wonderful place to stay. Would definitely stay here again if in Gruene.

Happened upon the Gruene River Hotel & Retreat on Hotels.com. What a find! Can’t say enough about the staff, accommodations, location, the list goes on and on. Newly renovated back porch is incredible. View off the back of the building is incredible. Wildlife roaming around the property is amazing. Homemade free breakfast was terrific. Each room has a unique layout and motif. The personal attention is the best I’ve ever seen and I’ve stayed at hotels extensively in my life. There aren’t enough stars to give this place what it deserves! We will absolutely be back, likely with family and friends in tow!

I never sleep, ever, but had no issues getting a good nights rest with their cozy beds and pillows. The views were stunning, fireplace in the room was amazing. Breakfast in the mornings was delicious! Loved being able to walk everywhere in Gruene. There is free Pacman! We loved getting to know the kind staff members. Everything was just perfect and we cant wait to return!
