Reviews of Hy-Lo Hotel, an Ascend Collection Hotel, note very large rooms and convenient access to Choctaw Casino, but also ongoing renovations, elevator outages, and cleanliness and maintenance that range from spotless stays to musty odors, mold, and broken fixtures.
Service is frequently praised as friendly and helpful, though several guests reported rude or unresponsive front-desk experiences and deposit or billing frustrations. Breakfast feedback is mixed, from hot and tasty to limited, poorly replenished, or watery items, and it sometimes starts late. Noise varies by room: some found it quiet, while others cited thin walls, barking dogs, and loud or malfunctioning HVAC. Expect spacious rooms near the casino, but uneven upkeep during renovations.

This property was obviously being given a facelift. Half of the carpet in the lobby has been torn up. There was no hairdryer or telephone in the room. There were inadequate coffee supplies in the room. We had to ask the cleaning staff for more cups creamer and sugar. The air conditioner was dripping water onto the floor in the room. The nighttime attendant was not dressed appropriately in my opinion to greet the guests and was also caring a baby in her arms. Little while later, I had to go down and get the key to the room working again and she was sprawled on the couch watching TV with no shoes on.

The elevator was broken and there was zero consideration for us having to haul luggage up 3 flights of stairs. Room is spacious and modern.

Convenient location. Clean. Lobby carpet needs repair, doesn't make a positive impression.

Elevator didn't work part of the time. Was told "well that happens". My husband is 80 years old and had to climb up to 3rd floor.... Went to get breakfast coffee and machine wasn't working. Finally got it fixed but the coffee was awful. We were looking for mints on the pillow, just a way to get to our room and morning coffee. Won't be going back

I have such mixed feelings about this hotel. First, the staff was super nice, the location is great for casino or Durant visit (but nothing else is around there), the beds and pillows were comfy, air conditioner was cold and the rooms were huge. Really big. It is pet friendly. A ton of channels on the tv. It was the cheapest price in the area. BUT, the place is run-down and needs a good scrubbing. It looks like it is not being taken care of. It's fancy enough to have a tv in the bathroom but the shower needs to be remodeled. So strange to me. To be honest, I don't think they have enough staff to run the hotel AND keep it clean. If you have someone above you will hear every footstep and every noise outside your door (and it is hard to sleep through.) The parking lot is tiny but there is a fire pit and BBQ area. No pool. It certainly served its purpose, and I would return if the price is cheap but knowing it is a hotel in need of a serious facelift.

Hotel is nice. Under renovations. Our bathroom had something all over the shower and walls. And we had a dirty towel on our bed when we checked in. It wasn’t terrible, but wasn’t necessarily clean. Breakfast was great the first night, but the second night it was like a third of the food was left, and everything was empty. No one was at the desk when we went to ask questions. I did use the gym and it was very very nice!

The place seemed to be under construction. Damaged walls and missing base boards throughout. Breakfast bar was very empty. No one was in there so it's not like people are everything. Flipped on the tidy up sign in the morning and when I returned in the evening they came and picked up my dirty towels but did nothing else. Didn't empty any trash cans, didn't replace my towels, didn't make the bed. None of their remotes worked for the tvs. Phone inside the room didn't work either so I had to go down to the front desk anytime I needed something.

This is the second time in 2 weeks that we have stayed here rooms are clean and remodeled but the elevator is still not working. The lobby still needs flooring. They offered to put us in the first floor because of the elevators not working but it was a downgrade on the room so we decided to just walk up the stairs 3 flights. If the elevators were working this review would have gotten top all fives...

Bathroom was dirty. Someone came in our room while we were gone( we gad the peace and quiet button on) changed the thermostat, turned off the lights and we could smell cleaner, however nothing was cleaned. Counter and bathroom door had what appeared to be boogers on it. Sheets had stain and towels were sub-par

Floor was dirty: Visible trash and dirt around the bed. Shower floor had hair on it. Used Keurig cup was left on the desk. Bathroom sink was clogged and drained slowly (hair visible in drain). Shelf in shower was broken/cracked. Provided breakfast was subpar with watery gravy. Staff was quick to respond to requests and that was appreciated.

The staff was very friendly. Breakfast was ok. There was not many options. My room floor was dirty, towels dirty (stained), bean bag that smelled terrible, and the bed was very uncomfortable. Something that I did appreciate, there was a locked door to enter at night. Low risk of someone coming in that airplane be.

The bedspread had red stuff on it that looked like bleed. I had to contact the staff to come change it out. The breakfast was a very poor selection. The building I thought was new but then inside you can see where there was painted poorly and a poorly remodeled building/room. I will not stay again.

Good property for a one night stay if all you really need is a bed and few embellishments. Staff was like the property, nothing above and beyond. Room doors slam loudly, the walls are somewhat thin, no carpet anywhere so the sound is not deadened.

We arrived and our room was 80 degrees inside. We changed clothes and left after lowering the temperature to 70. When we returned later that night the room temperature was 76. The towels were yellowing and old. We turned on the T.V. and thier was no cable, antenna or hdmi connected so it was useless. The room was a handicap room (not mentioned at booking) and was priced higher because it had a mini fridge and microwave. The showering chair grossed me out. The price was expensive at a discount. The location was highly rated which is what I look for. Once there I feel they didn't meet any of the online ratings.

The rooms are large, clean, and modern. There is a mini fridge and microwave in room as well as a Keurig. My complaint is breakfast. We were told breakfast was until 9AM and we got there at 8:30. There was nothing left except eggs and cereal. No more biscuits, sausage, yogurt, muffins, cream cheese for bagels, jelly for toast, or waffle mix. I asked the front desk girl who was sitting in the lobby playing on her phone if they would be able to put more breakfast out and she said no. They only put it out once and once it’s gone it gone. So, if you don’t care about breakfast or want to get up at 6AM to make sure you get some, then it’s a nice hotel.

Very large, comfortable room. Close to where we needed to be. Much larger room than I expected. I think my only complaint is that there wasn't enough lighting in the room. A light by the door, two small bedside lights and then a table lamp. There needed to be additional lighting in the area close to the couch/hide-a-bed.

Was a fun quirky place when it first opened a few years ago, but it's definitely seen some wear and tear. Furniture was worn and dirty, sheets and towels, while clean, still had lingering stains that should necessitate removal and replacement. Walls and floors haven't seen a good deep cleaning in a while. TV remotes worked only sporadically and TV muted for no reason after about 15 minutes more than once. It's not a terrible place by any means, and probably better than other local hotels with low budgets, but when you're used to Choctaw and can't get a room because they're booked, the step down can be a shock to the system.

The hotel stay was OK when we arrive. We were asked to put a deposit like every other hotel you required to put a deposit either debit card or cash. I decided to use a debit card. It was a $50 deposit. My day was on 12 October. I called numerous times that I did not receive my deposit. They constantly claim that they already refund the deposit went to my bank. The bank told me they took the money out since 15 October and there was no refund issue called them again asked for the receipt of the refund. They say they will email it to me. I didn’t receive any email about any receipt of a refund. Be careful staying here if you’re gonna put a deposit make sure it’s cash and make sure to get back to you when you leave because they will take your money and not give it back and constantly lie about it.

Staff was very rude when we checking in. We were not greeted or acknowledged, until we pretty much went up to the desk. She looked upset that she had to get off her phone to take care of us, then we were half explained about the deposit when doing payments through a third party company. I checked out on the 15th of May and did not receive the money until the 31st. The first floor is under renovation and smelled of wet floor because there looked to be a leak and there were towels on the floor. They didnt even have ice, the fire alarm went off both mornings at the same time, so that was a rude wake up call. The breakfast was good, but i did have to take pictures of the room because of the stains on the walls and I did want to make sure I wasnt charged for something that was there before me.
It seems like this hotel operates as a one-person show. I noticed only one staff member managing the front desk while also greeting customers and serving breakfast. Additionally, there were no paper towels in the public restroom, the coffee machine wasn’t working properly, and the floor was only partially covered.

This property appears to be under renovation. That’s not an issue but the rude front desk staff who don’t follow through with their commitments and eventually block your phone number when you try to work things out, says more than any review can. Stay somewhere else.

We were not able to check in. The payment service never fully accepted my credit card even though charges were hitting my card. So she wouldnt check us in. Terrible service.

The motel was modern and very clean however the upkeep lacks a lot to be desired. The lady at the front desk, Brandi, leaves a lot to be desired too. She was extremely rude, I gave her the benefit of a doubt that she'd had a bad day...nope, just as rude the next day as well.

Terrible customer service. Booked a king room they gave me a double queen. When I went back to the front desk she said "I can't change it it's the same price as a king". I told her, but I reserved a king room. She shrugged and said I can't do anything about it. I went to iron my shirt for a concert that evening and grabbed the iron, but saw no ironing board. So again to the front desk thinking it would need to be requested. No, she said they don't have them to "use the floor or put a towel on the bed". First 10 minutes at the property after dealing with all the horrible construction, long wait to check in and on my wedding anniversary. Terrible experience for the over $400 I spent never again.

It was a very solid stay! Nice comfortable room with slight up date upgrades! It was a clean property and front desk was extremely polite and courteous! Only downside of the stay was the parking! Needs more front side parking!

First time staying at Hy Lo. Great experience - fast and flawless check in, excellent customer service, spacious room with modern design, comfortable bed, parking in then front or in the back of hotel. I was worried about noise, because the hotel is located near a hwy, but it was quiet and peaceful with easy access to Durant and Denison for dining options. Good selection at breakfast even at almost 9am. Extra bonus was a jet tub in the room on top of the large shower in the bathroom. Will be back !

We came to town for a concert at the Choctaw resort. It is just across the interstate from the hotel. Convenient location. The hotel was a little overpriced, but I think all hotels are now. Basic but clean. We had no complaints whatsoever. Everything worked as it should. There was a Keurig in the room Beds were comfy and towels were soft.

Smell of marijuana in the hallways. Flooring in common areas looks to be being replaced, but apparently not anytime soon. AC wasn’t on in our room when we got there, but cooled off quickly. Still ok, and very close to the casino.

When you say breakfast starts 10/13 at 7 a.m. it should start at 7 a.m. and not 7:30ish. And I go to the front desk and have to call for assistance....REALLY? Not a good experience and will try the best western across the street next.

There was a used towel stuffed at the top of the shower. The free breakfast was undercooked. Not sure what came out of the coffee machine but it was questionable. The hotel was clean. Staff was very nice. They definitely have the best intentions for their customers but the delivery was a bit off.

Once the renovation is completed it will be more aesthetically pleasing. Great rate, appeared clean and the staff was friendly. Complimentary breakfast was better than most; it wasn't just bagels, toast, etc. It is one of the few offered I consider a real breakfast. We did not utilize any of the amenities but it appeared they had many.
