Across recent reviews, Holiday Inn Express Cloverdale - Greencastle by IHG earns frequent praise for friendly, accommodating staff and a generally well-liked hot breakfast, while feedback on the building's condition and room upkeep is mixed, with noticeable wear reported.

Many guests find rooms clean and comfortable with good beds, but others cite dated decor, musty odors, dampness, mold or damaged fixtures, weak shower pressure, and occasional TV or door issues. The pool and hot tub receive positive comments when open, but closures without notice are mentioned, and parking can be tight. The hotel was very run down. The wallpaper in the bathroom was torn and ripped all over. There was a huge whole in the bathroom door- looked like someone punched it. The pool was questionable and the spa was non functioning. The breakfast was disgusting. The only thing good to say was the beds were decent. We try to stay at Holiday Inns everywhere we travel and this was definitely the worst one we’ve ever stayed at.

Room 214 had a hole in the shower floor the size of my foot. They had decided to take what looks like a glue and clear packing tape to fix it. Very very limited and tight parking, weeds in all of the landscaping beds, trim around windows rotting, paint falling off the building and the second floor hallway smells like old water and pee. Save yourself the troubles and go across the street to super 8. It’s $50-$90 cheaper and in my opinion a nicer place.

Hotel was fine, especially for a single night. However, the room just felt old and dingy and I guess I expected more from a Holiday Inn Express. Almost felt like it used to be an old crappy hotel that was re-branded to a HIE. Popcorn ceilings, chipping paint, stains on the bathroom floor, etc. Overall the place just needs an update. Fine value for the money though.

I like the convenience from expressway. Staff member at from didn't smile, felt like we were bothering her. Drawers in room wouldnt shut and I had to request they be taped shut, tv didn't work at all. Might have been the storm, but was told unless we were reward members they wouldn't credit us anything. Beds were comfortable, good shower pressure amd quiet.

The staff were great.... and very helpful. Breakfast was excellent on each of our 3 mornings. That being said, this is a "tired" property.... The room was poorly laid out. The desk was poorly lit, in fact, the nearest light was 6 feet away, over the TV. Also, the coffee maker was on the desk, with no light so that we could read the instructions. The desk should be changed out with the TV chest of drawers. The drawers on both the desk and TV chest of drawers would not stay closed. Lost count of the number of times we bumped into them....! The drain in the bathroom was EXTREMELY slow, took forever for water to empty.... same for the toilet... The caulking around the window was horribly done. All in all.... this is a tired property.... Thankfully, all the staff were great and helpful....

We chose this motel because we wanted something a little nicer that we considered quiet and safe and as we were bringing home an expensive vehicle and didn't want to worry about it. We had a long day and got in around 8:00 pm. Had dinner at the Mexican restaurant and returned to our room. Water was hot, but pressure in the shower was very weak- you need to fix this. We went to bed around 10:00pm. So far, so good. We were awakened about an hour later by what sounded like the "neighbors" having a party next door. It lasted for about 2 hours. As older people, we were not able to get good rest after that. Guests need to be reminded that not everyone goes to bed at midnight and many have had long days. Anything after 9:00 should be "quiet time". If they want to talk loudly and party, the need to go to a common area, not someone's room. After being awakened from a sound sleep, we heard every noise all night long. Overall the motel was clean and felt safe, but the noise was definitely an issue and ruined the entire experience. When you pay $200 a night, you have every right to expect a good night's rest.

This hotel looked like they put on a coat of paint and slapped a Holiday Inn sign on it. Door did not want to close tight which made us feel unsafe. Outside doors were not working properly. The mattress was very uncomfortable and worn out. Not up to Holiday Inn standards, as we have experienced in the past.

All staff were phenominal! Over the top friendly and helpful. Breakfast was the best we have ever had. We stayed for 2 nights and requested extra pillows. Got them the next morning along with all fresh linens. The only feedback would be breakfast maintenance. 1st morning. SHE WAS ON IT!! Never ran out of coffee or food. The 2nd morning was as if no one was working. No plates, forks, coffee, pancakes, or orange juice. It was a fantastic stay tho overall. My husband is disabled and I neglected to put it on our reservation. They accomodated us immediately without question.
