La Quinta by Wyndham San Luis Obispo

The ladies at breakfast and the afternoon grunt offices were very friendly. Sadly we were disappointed about how cold the swimming pool was. We loved the heated pool so much two years ago that we decided to come back. Many others guests refrained from swimming because it was too cold.

Everything was broken. The pool and spa were empty and closed. The main elevator didn’t work and the front doors were broken and permanently wide open. The advertised restaurant and bar are actually next door and not operated by the hotel and closed at 9 PM. The staff offered to reduce my bill for the inaccurate property description but then didn’t actually do it until I asked, a second time.

The property had some construction going on and their main elevator was out of service. Pool was also not available. None of this was mentioned on their website or Expedia.

Modern/Clean architecture. Nice mix of glass and wood. Room was comfortable and clean. 2 elevators were out of service when we arrived. They moved us to a lower floor and carried our suitcases up. I drive an EV and was glad to be able to charge overnight.

Very nice and convenient so close to the college.

The "pool" is a tiny 2'8" deep wading pool. Staff were all great. Heard people walking above us and dog barking n ext door.

Front desk staff at check in performed the minimum and weren’t especially friendly. Room was spotless and comfortable except for the loud a/c. We had to shut it off to sleep. The pool and outdoor fireplace was fun but the pool and spa really need cleaning/ resurfacing. The pool is a wading pool less than 4 feet deep.

Parking is an issue. Construction / renovations going on

The hotel was under construction, and the rooftop pool— a major reason for choosing this hotel— was closed with no notice or provision/compensation. The front of the hotel under construction was just aesthetic, but the closed pool was definitely dissatisfactory.

Gym facilities were very good for a property of this size.

Every thing is good except the room is not cleaned well.

Great location! But the rest was so-so. No cold water in the bathroom sink. The coffee machine (Kerurig) was broken. The duvet cover was ripped on the underside. The windows were quite dirty. And the hot tub/spa wasn’t working and is filthy. Love the rooftop deck though!

The hotel is under construction. And we had a dirty toilet. I’ve attempted to hear from the management but they have to reply.

The properties in a good location but it's run down and they're doing remodeling of their facade. The staff were okay and even the rooms were okay, but the bed or pillows in our room were infested with fleas- bites all over my legs.

Comfortable beds. Soft cotton linen. Quiet setting. Lots of mold in the tub/shower stall.

My recent stay at this hotel was thoroughly disappointing especially considering the premium rates charged during the holiday weekend. When we arrived the front desk was unattended with staff to assist check in forcing us to wait nearly an hour before we eventually gave up and went to dinner. When we finally managed to check in that evening the staff was unwelcoming and unhelpful. They provided no information about parking, elevators, or basic hotel amenities. The room itself was substandard at best. It felt cramped with a persistent musty odor, and the bathroom door wouldn’t even close. The towels were visibly dirty with brown stains and felt damp. I even noticed the previous guest’s trash was still sitting in the nightstand. The overall cleanliness was well below any acceptable standard. Beyond the room issues the hotel had several facility problems that should have been disclosed upfront. Parking was extremely limited in the evenings so if you leave after dark expect to park in the adjacent restaurant’s lot. Speaking of the restaurant there’s no onsite dining despite what may be implied. The restaurant is actually next door. Most frustrating was that the hotel was under active construction during my entire stay with the front entrance blocked creating an unwelcoming first impression that set the tone for the whole experience. There are significantly nicer hotels in the area for comparable or even lower prices and I would strongly recommend looking elsewhere.

The hotel is great. The rooms were updated but the grout in the showers weren't being cleaned and have mold/scum on them. The air conditioner was loud.

Rooms were clean, and quiet. Lobby and hallways were not quite as clean as they could have been.

Very noisy rooms around us well after 1:00am, plus heavy street noise in early morning. Mold in shower. Very annoying automatic bathroom light that wakes everyone in the room up if one person gets up to use bathroom.

Early check in, friendly staff, modern room, everything works, quiet, no odd smell, great water pressure, comfy bed, safe easy parking, great breakfast selection with a pancake machine. Just a great place! The only thing: the balcony door won’t lock, so we just blocked it with a chair. Still, it’s a 5 star. I recommend this hotel.

Over charged price. Not worth the money. The room is small.

My room #227 was shockingly loud. All night long sounds from HVAC or something was running. I sounded like being in an airplane.

Overall the experience was great! Check-in person, cleaning crew, and lady at the breakfast were all very polite and helpful. The place looks clean, recently remodeled, but there are some signs of wear already. We stayed in a Deluxe King room with a Sofa and Balcony — the mattress looked and felt old (both side sink in while the middle is a bit more firm), there were no ceilings lights but 5 lamps in the room and a couple of the lamps we’re already wobbly. The overall look of the room was cute, neat and tidy but on a closer look those flaws were easy to spot. The room was pretty dim as a result. We couldn’t even read. Our experience is relatively good cuz the price of the room this size and complimentary hot breakfast came out to be $157+ $15parking, better value than another hotel we stayed at the night before in Santa Barbara.

The room was clean, very well set up for travel. Room was spacious. Plenty of storage, small refrigerator, microwave. Very nice seating area. What was great about the bathroom was that the toilet was separate from the sink and shower. Also, the shower was a very nice size and well done. Bed was very comfortable and the room was very quiet.

Bathroom door didn't lock or deck door

Would have given it 5 stars except that the bathroom was ridiculously small with no place to hang wet towels and wash clothes.

Very comfortable clean room in a nice building for an excellent price. The rooftop hot tub was great. The location to downtown is walkable or a very short drive. We had a room with a balcony and a nice view. The only negatives were the bathroom door needed maintenance as it wouldn’t lock and the room needed more lighting, even with all the lamps it was still a bit dark.

The property was under construction which is the only reason I didn’t rate it an excellent. I was pleasantly surprised by the room and the staff was beyond helpful.

It was great in every way and the front desk (Anura) was very welcoming and informative.

Room and staff were fantastic

Everything went really good, our stay was very comfortable and quiet at night. Staff was very friendly. The only thing I was say had a little bad side was parking. At night we were able to find the LAST parking spot available but noticed other guests still arriving and not being able to find parking anymore, so maybe more available parking would be nice.

Staff is wonderful

Room was great. Location was great. The guy checking me in was a total tool. I booked on expedia and for some reason there was a delay in the reservation "dowloading" to their system. I waited in their lobby for 45 minutes waiting for the reservation to post. Finally i approached this tool, and said 'let's come up with a solution". I asked him if he could give me the keys and just call me down when the reservation posted. Nope I asked him if he could contact experida. nope He said "you can call expedia". The problem is that there is no phone number, so I had to use a "virtual assistant. Totally useless.. So I went back up to this tool, and told him there is no phone number. He had no ideas to solve the problem. I said "Thanks for nothing". I then told him that I'll just make a separate reservation so at least I could get into a room. He started to make the reservation, when the gal next to him said "look the expedia" hit. The tool said "Okay I'll cancel this new one". Bingo! I said so there was a solution. Create a new reservation, then give me the keys, then cancel the new one when expedia hit. He got so mad, he started yelling at me. I said "dont' raise your voice at me". Anyway long story short, I got a partial refund from expedia so the saga continues. What a tool.

Receptionist was very rude, triple charged for the cost of hotel and they”didn’t know what happened.” Waited until the next day when condescending supervisor provided a patronizing non-explanation. There was a partial wrapper on the floor in our bedroom and a very long black hair in the shower. The bed was uncomfortable and overall it is NOT a place I would stay again.

Front desk staff were quite rude after we voiced concerns over the dogs barking in the room next to use and the broken door lock on the patio door.

When we arrived we were greeted with a note on the reception desk that said "be back soon". We waited 25 mins for a member of staff to show their face and they didn't even apologize for the wait. I did try to phone the hotel as I was standing in reception but I could actually hear the phone ring out. Where were all the staff ??? Absolutely unacceptable.

I stayed here for a wedding and it was the perfect location. About 15-20 minute walk to downtown SLO and/or a few minute Uber ride. I love the complimentary breakfast, I feel like a lot of hotels don't offer this anymore. The rooms are clean and staff always friendly. It is the most luxe hotel in SLO, no, but for the price and location you cant beat it!

Nice brand new hotel, clean room, clean towels, nice beds, good location.

Such a nice, clean, and conveniently located place. Literally down the street from Cal Poly. We will definitely be back!

Great location and clean!

It's a pretty new facility and we were very happy with our room, the staff and the hotel in general. The breakfast was a bonus and had a good selection of food. I gave it 4 rather than 5 stars because I thought it might be walkable to downtown and I suppose it is but maybe a 20-30 min walk.

We enjoyed the balcony; the room was a good size, the breakfast was well-stocked and clean, and the front desk was helpful. The hotel was conveniently located near downtown, restaurants, and the Cal Poly campus. We enjoyed our stay.

This location was close and convenient to the 101 and all the shops. It's a modern bldg and the check in was easy.

Clean, comfy, and friendly staff. We usually stay at the La Quinta because it is pet friendly, and we just love the consistency, the kindness of the staff and the affordability.

We expected the food to be better at Breakfast. The oatmeal was like warm.

We loved that it was dog friendly! Also appreciated the roof top pool and spa. Breakfast was good and well staffed. Our entire experience was top notch and while it was not walkable to downtown it was just a short drive to get there. Will definitely stay there again!

Buffet was much better than expected. Room was ok, not luxurious but met my needs.

Great hotel. Clean room. Staff was nice. Gave a 10%% off coupon to restaurant next door. Breakfast was very good. They had everything we wanted to eat for breakfast.

This was a beautiul property. Great location. Modern. enjoyed the small roof top pool and free breakfast. Only thing that could have been improved was a mini fridge in the room. We travel often with a child with allergies so we but food at a grocery store and had never had a hotel room with no mini fridge?

Really pleasant pit stop at La Quinta en route to San Francisco. Welcome was friendly and the free breakfast was substantial (pancakes, waffles, cereals, pastries and eggs). I didn’t care that they served it in disposable plates (but it would be good if they could find a more sustainable/recyclable option). Room was large, clean and beds comfortable.

The breakfast options included pancakes, waffle, fruit, eggs, sausage, potatoes, bacon, oatmeal, and bake goods. There’s were at least 2 staff members in the breakfast area on the days I was there to make sure the area was clean and organized. The hotel is animals friendly as I saw about 4 leashed dogs there. The room was clean and my only wish was there was a vent fan for me to use in the shower and bathroom area. The restaurant and bar area is eligible for 10% off if you’re a guest of hotel.

Great team at this hotel. Everything was clean and tidy. The breakfast hosts were fabulous keeping everything fresh, clean and delicious! Great property.
