This is a walk up (3 or 4 flights I cannot remember). We arrived 2 hours after check in and entered a room that hadn’t been cleaned. They put new sheets on and sprayed air freshener while we waited. That was it for the cleaning. The lamps on the wall did not work, the shared bath shower had mold on the ceiling and the location didn’t seem walkable. There is a lot next to the Inn - if that is full, there is an overflow lot a block away. They did waive a pet fee for the inconvenience. There is a breakfast included and they allow dogs. Try to request a lower floor if possible.

Breakfast was very good. Free parking. But no elevator -- and steep stairs.

It was okay. Not very clean, hair on toilet and sink, old used toiletries left behind, missing robe.

The Inn at St John is lovely on the outside but unfortunately not well-maintained and overpriced. I paid nearly $250 for a room where the telephone didn’t work, the “brick” in the bathroom was literally white styrofoam stick-and-peel faux brick that was peeling off the wall, and a teeny tiny shower that at 5-5” I had to bend down to fully fit under. I’m used to small European hotels so I don’t mind (and in fact quite like) the small rooms and small bathrooms; I find them quaint and went out of my way to choose this hotel over other similarly priced hotels, but it is simply not well-maintained enough to justify the price. I do not recommend it unless you are able to find a very good deal.

The staff were very kind and helpful. No complaints there. The Inn itself is old and creepy. Inpractical (steep stairs, bowed floors). Sinks with chipped porcelain. Very noisy location across from the hospital, so sirens blaring all night long. Windows did not lock. Flimsy security lock on the room door. The breakfast area is narrow and crowded. Pleasant music played in the lobby. Creepy parking lots and limited parking.
