Sara Placid Inn & Suites

What guests think

At Sara Placid Inn & Suites, travelers highlight the lakeside location near downtown, generally clean, comfortable rooms and suites with kitchenettes, easy self check-in, and simple outdoor perks like a gazebo, fire pit, and kayaks.

Repeated drawbacks include dated, motel-style buildings, occasional uncomfortable beds or flat pillows, and intermittent issues with hot water, TV or AC controls. Some guests note road noise or bright exterior lights and miss having an on-site attendant, though messaging support is typically quick. Booked the Sara Placid Inn & Suites because not as touristy or high brow as Lake Placid. Delighted to discover kayak, paddle, life vest & Propane BBQ are complimentary! Walking/biking trail runs behind the property, adjacent to a lily filled pond and across the street from Lake Flower. The BEST Suite is #18 (steps up to 2nd floor) with a forest view outside the living room picture window. Hardwood floors, Two Queen bedrooms, one with skylight and desk, a kitchen flowing into living and sit-down dining room (granite countertop with seats separate kitchen area), full size refrigerator and stove, well arranged shower-bathtub, all very clean with the fluffiest towels. More like a mini-vacation flat than a motel room. Check-in & out via phone text, So Easy. Hosts respond quickly. Very friendly. Walk into town can include Mountain Mist Ice Cream stop (famous) and Fusion Market beverage stop. Took a side path through Pine Ridge Cemetery, crossing river bridges to the far side of town and Bitters and Bones for a terraced lunch. Sourdough bakery across the street. Stopped by Nori’s Cafe and Organic Food Coop on the trip back. So many music venues in town. The BEST STAY in the area for value, luxury of kitchen & kayak and beauty!

Pros: clean, quiet, convenient location, large room, and the jacuzzi tub worked fantastic. Cons: shower drain plugged badly which resulted in several inches of standing water while showering, the room smelled like bleach, and the mattress was the worst I have ever slept on (mattress springs are noisy and sag). Fix the shower and buy new beds for these rooms and they'd be great. Until then I won't return.

It was very disappointing. The condition of the property in two works is run down. Unpainted steps as you enter. Partially painted buildings. Very dated from the 60’s. Must smell mixed with cigarette smoke. Very old carpet. I guess I can say they tried but failed. Rusty baseboard heating. An air conditioner that buzzed every few seconds. Would not recommend or will I go back . The 144$ a night was way to much for this room. Very sad

Economy single was a very basic room in need of renovation. Our room was 40 feet from a busy state highway... Lots of noise. Air conditioner did not cool the room even though it was set on 62. It was a warm stuffy night. On one hand this isn't the Hilton at Hilton prices... But even at the economy price, we've had better on our trip.

It was a great stay. There was a noise issue when a bus full of girl athletes arrived after 10 PM. But this got much quieter by 11. Using the Roku tv was a bit of a challenge as there are many channels not available, and the access code for adding your own streaming apps would have been a plus. Between the outside lights and the Christmas lights, it was extremely bright in the room. Overall a good stay.

The room was unusual but exactly what we needed for one couple and a cousin: two queen size beds and a third queen size bed separated by a partial wall. Also a decently-sized fridge and a microwave. Check-in and -out is electronic.

There was only one outlet in my room, and it was a power strip that powered the microwave and refrigerator. None on either side of either bed. The AC unit did not respond to the remote, and playing with the touch screen failed to do anything, so the temperature and air could not be altered. All 3 kayaks were noticeably dirty, so I have to clean them off once I launched the one I used. Multiple spiders in each, including a few once I began paddling. Everything else was okay, I loved my bed and the chairs behind the building on the pond, but I am not sure that I would come back.
