Across recent reviews, Hampton Inn Big Rapids is praised for clean, comfortable rooms and notably friendly staff, with a convenient location near shops and restaurants, while some guests report inconsistent breakfast quality and occasional housekeeping or maintenance lapses.

Rooms are generally spacious with some remodeled features, though a few guests noted dated decor, thin walls, HVAC or thermostat issues, sporadic odors, and worn mattresses. Facilities feedback highlights a small indoor pool that can be cold or temporarily closed and the absence of a hot tub; lobby coffee is handy but creamer choices may be limited. We really enjoyed our stay at Hampton in Big Rapids. Very nice and clean, breakfast was great! I appreciated that breakfast ran later than other hotels I had stayed at and that we had time before checkout to use the pool. The kids loved it! Would definitely stay again.

Booked this hotel specifically for the pool (i have kids) there was a tiny pool and no hot tub. The next morning the pool was closed. The front desk staff was amazing and we were able to go to their sister hotel and swim, where they had a bigger pool and hot tub. Good ending to our stay.

Waited 15 minutes for somebody to check me in upon arrival. There was a sign that said stepped away from the desk for a little bit. Once there was about 5 other guests waiting, somebody popped out of the little office, which by the way, the door was open so Im sure he heard the students from a visiting hockey team. The room smelled of weed. The parking lot was full of snow & ice and not salted

Everything was wonderful except the pool was freezing. Our granddaughter was so excited to swim and she couldn’t because it was too cold. It would be nice to have assorted teas and liquid creamer in the room

I was in meetings all day and checked in at about 10PM. The room was clean but very warm, 75 to 80 degrees. I turned on the air conditioner to lower the temp to 70, and about 5 minutes in, the AC started to make a horrible noise that lasted for about 5 minutes. I waited a bit and this process continued about every 20 minutes, 15 minute of quiet and then 5 minutes of horrible rattling, I called the desk and was told they were sorry but the maintenance staff had gone home and that they were full. I had to sleep in a room that was about 80 degrees all night long, and all the hotel staff had to say was "We are sorry you didn't enjoy your stay."

Stayed for one night. Staff was polite. Beware, Pool is only 4ft deep, which I dont think that's listed anywhere on the site. Buffet breakfast was basically over when we came down at 9am, though it says 6-10am. The room was fine but could have been cleaned more thoroughly. Location was convenient with Culver's & Ruby Tuesday nearby if you want a couple of quick eats with Meijer just a few steps away.

The room was comfortable and the bed and linens too. Nicely updated. Breakfast area didnt have enough seating so we had to eat in our room one morning. Otherwise the hotel is nice and would book a room there again.

Positive: The beds were comfortable and the location was convenient. Unfortunately, it ends there. It’s in dire need of a remodel as the toilet could only be flushed by pulling the chain inside the tank and the bathroom door knob was falling off. The staff couldn’t keep up with food prep, so my husband got a tablespoon of each hot food. Needed more staff to help.

The hotel is in great shape. The bedroom was great and the beds/pillows were super comfortable. The only drawback is the bathroom faucet is miserably designed and flows down very low into the center of the sink (terrible design for anyone wanting to brush their teeth while staying. Lol). Breakfast was good, tons of options and was available to 10am, which is nice compared to some other hotels. Checkout also was at noon, rather than 11 which I also appreciated.
