We use this as a halfway stop between Maine and Florida twice a year. They are pet friendly and it’s just a mile off route 81 with good gas prices near the highway. The rooms are large with old wood floors, high ceilings and beautiful grounds around the hotel (which, I believe, used to be a sanitarium for people convalescing from tuberculosis). The beds and pillows are comfortable. They recently added a breakfast area though we haven’t tried it yet. The in room coffee only supplied a packet of powdered creamer and various sugar and sugar substitutes so we opted to get coffee locally instead.

The place overall was fine. However, we were awoken early one morning with people right outside our door working out in the hall. They only had one person working in the little breakfast/restaurant area so you had to wait every morning to even get a cup of coffee and there wasn’t any place to sit down if you did want to order breakfast. We ended up walking out one morning after ordering a cup of coffee. We were the only ones in line and had ordered and then people started coming up to refill their coffee and he proceeded to fill theirs before he filled our order. He then looked at us and said “oh I’m sorry I’ve gotta make another pot now!” There wasn’t any soap in the shower dispenser from the day we first got there. We told the front desk about it and they never came to refill It. We asked them to clean our room because we were there for five days and they never showed up. Finally, on the last night we were there, we complained again and they brought us a couple towels and refilled our soap for us. The lounge/bar was not open the whole five days that we were there. When we went to check out our final morning, the employee was asleep on the couch across the room. We ended up just dropping our key card off on their computer and left. The place itself was very quaint. I just wish the staff had been a little more helpful
